While I was reading this, I thought that this book should actually be titled:
100 Crafts under $10: Semi-Homemade Crafting
I checked to see if Sandra Lee (of Food Network's Semi-Homemade Cooking) was a a contributor on this book. She wasn't. However, just like the food and tablescapes on her show, many of the projects in here give that same feeling of not being quite authentic. One could even go as far as to say that some of them border on the chintzy. I was disappointed to see that a lot of the projects involve very little craftiness (i.e. buying a tree shaped cooling rack and tying some cookie cutters on it with ribbon). I was hoping this book might inspire some ideas, but mostly it just made me want to stop reading it.
The book did have a few good points:
-Excellent color photographs so it's clear what the final products should look like. -Helpful diagrams for stitches and patterns. -Some of these projects would be cute gifts from children and could easily be adapted to be used with this age group.
I liked this book because it has many different types of crafts. It was well laid out and had complete lists for supplies. I recently became interested in poured resin types of crafts, I saw some videos, but was still unsure. To get set up is probably not gonna be less than $10, though. Still, this was interesting and informative, also included painting on glass tips- the holidays will soon be here!
great color pictures. Some of the crafts were really simple. An example is painting pumpkins gold to place in a basket, or painting small flowers on a pair of gloves. It is worth a look inside, to see what ideas it sparks.
