The irreverent, controversial head coach of the Atlanta Falcons takes on players of the National Football League, unleashes his wit on the media, and explains his devotion to black clothes and Elvis Presley
Jerry Glanville was an NFL head football coach for many years. He coached for teams like the Houston Oilers and Atlanta Falcons are his most known coaching jobs. He had to struggle in his early life to get a job, and later he became one of the best coaches ever. Many coaches didn't like the way he coached because he wanted his team to be physical. He had to struggle with what jobs to take because he would get so many offers he didn't know what to do.
Was teaching his team to be pysacll was a good way to win games or should he have been more relaxed and let them play the way they wanted to?
No one person can make a team great, but yet he made every team he coached great. I think that his coaching styles helped. He made the team respect and fear him and I think that's the difference between coaching. Jerry was a great guy and that's why he was able to get so many jobs and keep jobs.
I am old enough to remember when Jerry Glandville was a fixture in Atlanta. As coach for the Falcons he was a colorful character in the field filled with many. In this book, Elvis Don’t like Football, Glandville takes you on his insight to the world as he sees it. The book title comes from the 2 tickets he left in will call for each game for the king of rock and roll, he heard of many sightings but no appearance. This leads to the conclusion that the King does not like football. A fun book, full of anecdotal tales but one who can share them best.
