So this was really cute since this showcases all of the Avengers and the villains that the Avengers have gone up against. You get to see lots of information provided about Tony Stark, Ant-Man, Wasp, Thor, Vision, Hulk, and others such as Maria Hill (I love her) and actually makes the character of Sharon Carter seem way more bad-ass than her movie counter-part.

I actually liked this primer for what it was. A nice way to introduce the characters to kids. You also get to see things such as Iron Man's different armor and what it's for. I did laugh a bit though since Thor's backstory in the comics doesn't match up with this movie backstory. He didn't really roam for years on Earth until he got his hammer back.

We also get a very detailed backstory into Ultron which was great. I am not the biggest Avengers person ever (Batman girl here) so it was nice to see everything showing the many battles against Ultron the Avengers have done and how Vision came to be due to Ultron.

I also liked you got an explanation into all of the villains and heck I even get who Thanos is now and what his deal is, the movies haven't done a great job of that until Guardians of the Galaxy.

The end of this has a list of trivia questions you can flip back through to find the answers to, such as who came up with the name of the Avengers.

Great piece of work by (my friend) Matt Forbeck, who has managed to take 40+ years of highly tangled comics continuity with Ultron and the Avengers and make it both accessible and a fun read.

My highest praise goes to Matt's decision to excise and ignore the most inane and insipidly pandering version of Ultron ever created--the Frank Cho "nekkid babe Ultron" that offended me with a single cover image enough that I've avoided what I'm sure was a less-than-inspiring story.

Book Review by: Sharon Powers.

This little book is only 128 pages long, but boy does it pack a lot of information into those pages. The target audience is the group of children who range in age from 8-12 years old (3-7 the grade); a big caveat, here, I am an adult and I very much enjoyed this book, so don't let the target audience deter you.

Moreover, this title, technically, isn't the AGE OF ULTRON, but the Avengers Battle Against Ultron. Material in the book covers the Age of Ultron, but other periods regarding Ultron, his pitched battle against his biggest enemy, The Avengers.
[7]
I picked this book up because as I perused its pages, I noted many things about the Avengers, Ultron, Vision, and other superheroes and villains, that I had not known before. For example, I learned that the super heroine, Wasp, came up with the name for the group of heroes known as The Avengers. So many snippets of information exist that I can't share them all with you, today. But one last thing relating directly to the Age of Ultron, is to show you just how many "ages" of Ultron there have been. (See the graphic here in this paragraph.)
[7]
Another thing you will want to know is that really this little book isn't a story, as such, with a beginning, middle and end. The book doesn't even have chapters, just chun- ks of interesting information about The Avengers, Ul- tron, and other heroes and villains related to the Ultron stories. Nonetheless, I found this book very entertaining as well as informative. And, as you can see from the photo in this paragraph the amount of detail and information included is very compacted on just two pages (about the helicarrier). In the photo in the previous paragraph, the use of color is wonderful and the organization of information is well done and easy to understand.

MY RECOMMENDATIONS AND RATING:
[8]
For the Age of Ultron Prelude, I think that you may have guessed that I am not happy at all about the lack of any meaningful storyline or new material. I am also unhappy that for $13.59 I should have gotten, not only more pages, but a lesser price. Honestly, I think the value of the book should be $2.99--no more. It isn't enough to have a glitzy cover and glossy pages and vibrant art. I recommend you skip this book, it isn't worth your time or money. For all the above reasons, I rate this book 2 stars out of 5.
[9]
For the book Marvel Avengers Battle Against Ultron, I recommend you buy it if you have any real interest in Ultron or the Avengers. It is very informative and well organized. Moreover, if you know a young person in the target group, it would make a wonderful gift to encourage reading. I loved this little book and for all the above reasons, I give this book 4.5 stars out of 5.

Thank you for joining us this week as we got to see the other two books of most interest following the Age of Ultron movie. Please join me next time as I will give you a book radically different from superheroes, comics and spandex. Thank you, again, my friends. I really do look forward to being back with you next time with another new book.

Until next time...

This flower is a white and red Rose of Sharon. [10]

...many happy pages of reading!

Be good to each other.

Sincerely,

Sharon.

History of the Avengers and their villains - super super useful in connecting a lot of disparate comics history into one narrative. It mostly focuses on the MCU Avengers, but also goes into detail on The Wasp, Hank Pym, Sharon Carter, Maria Hill and Nick Fury 1.0 and 2.0. Bonus points for never describing any of the women as beautiful/etc, but focusing on their skills and leadership.

It's not a bad overview of the Ultron story line, in so far as kids books go. There are some nuances and adult themes that it leaves off, but that't to be expected. I'd certainly recommend this book for anyone with a little Marvel fan in their life, or someone who wants a character overview before they dive into the more in-depth story lines.

Asher (10yo) read.

Asher really enjoyed this book and brought it along in the car for all our errands. He liked to quiz me and his father about the Marvel universe. His father got noticeably upset when the "facts" Asher read aloud didn't match what he knew from his comic book days. :)
