This is not a great book if you're serious about cartooning. But his lightness on the subject is of value. The book is a fun read. I recommend it.

As a amateur wood carver of Santas and other characters, I think this book is great resource for understanding the dimensions of the face, how it changes to communicate various emotions and how it can be exaggerated. Dick Gautier's use of illustrations make this book easy to understand and a possible resource for older children. However this is not a book for serious artists.
