A Fantastic Place to Start
Richard Giedroyc’s The Everything Coin Collecting Book is a great book for a beginning coin collector. Published in 2007, the book is a little out of date in some areas. However, most of the information presented is timeless. I found the chapters on coin history and how coins are made to be particularly educational. If you are new to numismatics, this book is a fantastic place to start.
