Joint Review for the entire Violet Trilogy

I highly doubt I’d ever be able to express the sheer barrage of emotions I felt while I read this book. Violet Rai has been the most mysterious in the trio of friends. And I also just knew from the start that she’d be my favourite character.

And. She. Is.

With everything that’s revealed in the Lily and Dahlia trilogies about Violet, a few things were made pretty clear: She was secretive on purpose. She was a commitment-phobe. And probably the most important of all: She’d been burnt badly before.

Wild Violet (Book One) basically tracks how Violet was in college. She was a Math major and that shows just how smart she was, if not determined. And as the name suggests, she was fucking wild. The book begins in an excellent place, with Vi in a dance class, and being wooed by a certain Andrés Costas. Now here’s the thing about Andrés. HE SUCKED. And that’s saying something because the chemistry he had with Violet was enough to burn a house down. (Mine, specifically). But gah. I never liked him, somehow. He had this condescending edge to him that I hated, honestly, and I couldn’t look beyond that, so maybe that corrupted my judgement. Nonetheless, Violet got into some serious stuff because of Andrés’ influence and again, I kind of sort of blamed him for it. Unfair, I know, but that was the way I was thinking.

Hidden Violet (Book Two) featured a lot more about Vi and her sketchy past, and was probably my favourite of the lot. Here, Violet turns to Thomas Squires for help and HOLY SHIT THOMAS SQUIRES. He’s always been my favourite man from all the men we’ve seen in the entire series, and with good reason. He’s smart and witty (as a detective I suppose he has to be) but he’s also kind and compassionate. And I think we got to see a lot more of this pair in Hidden Violet but yet, to me it wasn’t enough. I wanted more and more and more of Thomas and Violet because GODDAMN THEY WERE PERFECT TOGETHER.

And the final book of the trilogy was True Violet (Book Three) which true to its name, shows us the true side of Violet Rai. She was independent and strong and fantastic. She partially took over her tyrrant father’s business and she did it quite well, might I add. But she also was brave enough to accept her mistakes and face the consequences of the choices she had made in her life. And I loved that. I loved that she didn’t shy away from anything she did and actually helped Lily and Dahlia as she had all along. The book had so many twists and turns and unexpected everything! And also, we met Samir whom I loved. NOT MORE THAN THOMAS but I by the end of the book, I really, really loved Samir. He was pragmatic and hot and the sexiest CFO I've had the pleasure of reading.

Towards whom Violet’s heart guided her is for you readers to find out but if I may say so, I was really, truly happy for her and as a reader, I was content with her choice. It was meant to be. By the end of the book, I had melted into a pile of mush onto my bedspread :) All in all, I’m sorry to see the story of these three best friends end (I really, really loved them all, GODDAMIT) BUT Vivian Winslow is just truly remarkable in her ability to write and I’m eager to read all her headstrong women and swoon, panty-melting men :)

Do you blush easily but love a good erotic tale? Get ready to blame those rosy cheeks and beads of sweat on a fever, or sunburn, because, face it, you’ll be the only one to know it was Vivian Winslow’s Hidden Violet that did it! Violet’s past is coming back to haunt her, and the time for unveiling her secrets is coming. Who can she turn to for support and help? Why not her best friend, Thomas Squires? A past lover is threatening all she holds dear, but is he any more dangerous than the secrets she has kept? Will finally sharing them put her friends in danger?

Thomas has always been strong and reliable, but is there more to his relationship with Violet than either one will admit?
Hot scenes, twisted turmoil and raw dialogue, all signature Vivian Winslow. Ms. Winslow slowly unwinds her tale until it becomes a powerhouse of tension, heat and emotion. A vapors-worthy short read, Ahh, the magic of teasing words by a colorful author.

Well, writing my thoughts for this review is going to be hard. I've just finished reading Hidden Violet and my feelings are all over the place about it. While I did enjoy the story, I didn't love it.

If you've been following the Gilded Flower series of novellas, all the things that us readers expect from Vivian Winslow are there - the drama, the scorching hot sex scenes, and the characters that we have grown to love throughout the series. But this installment just didn't grab be. I was intrigued, and it held my attention, but I felt like there was something missing. I wanted something more.

I think it's because during Lily and Dahlia's stories Violet was always such a mystery. We got little bits of her and saw that she was such a good friend to the twins, but you just knew that there was so much more to the girl that was so secretive and kept disappearing on her friends. There had to be a reason that Violet closed herself off to the opposite sex and preferred one night stands to letting anybody in to her world.

During this novella one of Violet's biggest secrets is revealed to her friends, but for me, it seemed to lack the 'WOW' factor that I was expecting. I didn't relate to Lily's reaction when she was told and I thought that she should have expected something like that to come from Violet. While I understood her anger at being lied to, I thought she really over reacted in regards to the situation.

Hidden Violet certainly picks up near the end though! For the last 20% I was totally riveted! The drama. The men. What I expected for Violet from the beginning of the novella finally made an appearance at the level that I expected! And the epilogue? OMG! Vivian Winslow has done it again with her cliffhangers that leave you CRAVING for more! Once again, I cannot wait to find out what happens next!

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Another amazing read from Vivian!  4.5 Stars!

This book picks up where the first one left off. Violet meets Andrés again after five years...insert swoon. He is still married but about to be divorced. Old feelings come to surface but Vi is still scorned about him leaving her and he is upset that she is still in the business. After awkward moment with current wife. He finally gives her some much needed information and she heads back to New York to take care of some unfinished business.

And that's where Thomas comes in play hot man number two. The attraction between the two is almost palatable. Vi resists her urges in fear of losing their friendship. But he doesn't make it easy on her.

And you know there's not to be any Vivian's books without some Gustavo drama in it. (Love him!)

Throughout the book you were torn on who you think would be best suitable for Vi. Especially since mystery guy number three just comes into play in the end...hmmmm.

Oh my gosh, I'm not sure if it's even possible, for a story to keep getting better and more addictive with each installment, but The Gilded Flowers series has it nailed.
Hidden Violet, Book 2 in the Vi trilogy. Book 8 in the Gilded Flowers series.

Violet is the secretive, exotic dark beauty, with more balls than most men, incredibly intelligent and business minded. She certainly knows how to work a situation to her advantage, and come out on top.
In part one of Vi's story, we got the full background on Vi and how she ended up with quite so many secrets, and found herself in quite the predicament.

This second part comes back to present time, and now we know all of Vi's background, we find out what has happened to her recently, why she is in some trouble, and how Thomas is able to be there for her.
Thomas, a friend that Violet grew up with in England. Gorgeous, and a little troubled, Thomas has loved Violet for more years than he can count. We found this out in Dahlia's story, but now we see first hand that his feelings for Vi, are mutual. Although Vi won't let Thomas break through the walls, she has put up around herself.

I absolutely loved the sexual and emotional tension, between Thomas and Vi. It was smouldering, and the fact that they didn't give in to the obvious desire straight away, just made it even better and far hotter.
We still get to see lots of Lily and Dahlia in this story, and see how all of their lives, seem to always end up entwined in some way. I love all the twists and turns, it makes for a very tense read.

Gustavo is still driving me mad, he is becoming a male equivalent of Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction, over Lily. And now has managed to mess around with so many lives. But I'm hoping he will get his comeuppance at some point, and soon.

Now, things take a drastic turn towards the end, and I was gritting my teeth at Vi, but I'm hoping that distance and absence will make the heart grow fonder, and all that. Vi needs to realise, the absolutely gorgeous, brooding Thomas needs to be snagged and kept!!
I literally can not wait for the third book!!

5 huge stars!!!

Vivian has done it again !! Her scale needs more than 5 stars !! Even though I still blush when she uses a few of her naughty words I am so in love with her writing and her characters. These women may have some craziness in their blood but they are all strong , independent and FABULOUS !! Lily won me over , Dahlia totally changed my view on her wow she did a total turn around and of course now Vi is just blowing them both out of the water !!

Worlds are colliding in this part of Vi's series. Her past , present and future are causing some major chaos for everyone !! Now that we know what Vi had spent her years doing we need to find out why she is trying to dig herself out of trouble and who exactly is the cause of it. Those things may get answered but we are now also faced with Thomas and Andres. It has been 5 years and Vi is needing Andres help. He is wanting more but she is trying to protect her heart. He really did hurt her when he left. Thomas is back and he is again trying to do everything in his power to help Vi. In the midst of this their feelings may be made known. Can their friendship survive the outcome of their honesty ?? Thomas heats it up and HOT HOLY WOW I don't know where Vivian finds these men but bring them to me !!!!!!!

On the verge of Lily and Alejandro's wedding some not so nice secrets come out which force Vi and Dahlia to come clean and Lily is not a happy camper hearing all the things Vi has been hiding from her. Now that all secrets are out can these girls have some happiness with their men ?? Vi makes a decision that may just land her in the path of someone that was definitely fun to be around in the past !! You need to read to find out who I mean !! I am so excited to see how he comes into play , and if he gets to play !!

Yay! It's the next chapter in Violet's life, and it's nothing short of the sexy and mysterious bits that we love so much from this series!
Vi has grown into a successful and well-rounded woman who handles her own business. Seems as though she's come to terms and coped after being so badly scorned by Andres five years ago. She grew to accept the distance between them, but now, with criminal trouble brewing within the business, she’s forced to face the beautiful, Brazilian music to get answers.
I was so proud of her for not buckling under his molten gaze and passionate gestures—she kept her head high and got what she needed and left back home from NY to go on with the next step.
She suspects an elite political official is behind the chaos and death behind one of her men and she is determined to solve the case and show them for who they really are.
I loved seeing some of my other favorite characters from previous installments in this series; there were some laughs and Vivian’s specialty of swoon-worthy men (Alejandrooooo!) and scorching passion!
The book ends with a cliffhanger that will leave you with excitement and curiosity, I cannot wait to see what happens next!!

I've been a fan of this group of friends since the beginning (Vi, Lily, and Dahlia). They each have their own quirks which gives them their special flare. I've enjoyed the secrecy that is Vi's life because I love that mysterious vibe. But with this installment, I don't feel that anymore answers were given, instead more knots were formed. Somehow I feel we're not getting all that Vi is, like she's holding something back. I know she has a plan and I just want to be in the know, so maybe there lies my frustration which will make for a good wait until the next installment releases. There's several sub-characters in which their side stories have left loose-ends, so I'm hopeful everything gets squared away in upcoming installments. Vivian's got something cooking and I'm anxious to see if it'll simmer or boil over. Someone's going to get burned because Vi's a hard person not to love...but who will it be? Give this a try and find your next book crush!

There is not one book from Vivian I have not liked! And another great book for the Vi Series. I can't believe the is true, however this book had the best cliffhanger of all her books from the Gilded Flower Series.
There is so much that happens, I can not give enough details. I do have to say.. I love Violet. Not just because she is awesome, but because she is calm and calculated. Her relationships have all collided into one book. First Andre, then Thomas, somewhere Gustavo gets in the mix, to lastly leave me with Samir. Which his story is left for the final book of the Vi Series.
All and all, I am looking forward(to say the least) to read the next book. The Vi Series will consume your mind and I have moments during the day I think of what is to be next. Plus seeing the hot guys on Vivian's FB page makes my day!
Vivian Winslow tops herself each time and has never let me down. Kudos my friend. No pressure on my expectations for your next book!

Violet, Oh sweet angel of mine..
She has developed so much in the past five years. I loved who she has become, and was relieved when she didn’t get into “much” trouble, much is used loosely here just because of some of the trouble she did get into.
Will she ever pick between the two, will her father give her what she needs, instead of what he think he wants? Oh the questions that come after reading this story. Come on Vivian, I need more!
I was sucked into this story, just as I was sucked into the last. I am rooting in all directions with this book, and I do not know if I can make it with such a cliffhanger.
Have you ever got to the end of a book, and you pushing your finger, hoping to flip another page, or words would magically appear?? That is what I was doing with this one, ha!
Love. Love. Love.

Five years later and Vi still has feeling for Andres. Why? He chose money over her. She should be done with him. She is killing me with her closed off ways. The one she should chose to be with, she just refuses to go there. Poor Thomas.

The one good thing that came from her being exposed is, she FINALLY comes clean to Lily and Dahlia about what's been happening with her career choice. Vi seems to always have something up her sleeve and maybe we will get to find out just what she has planned in Dubai.....dun dun dun. 3 1/2 stars

Violet you are such a bad girl !

So Violet has a few skeletons in her closet and they're knocking on the door to be let out!
Naturally she turns to the one person she shares a bond and history with. ..Thomas ♥ we met him in Wild Violet.
Seems Gustavo still has a bee in his bonnet or is it a nob in his rods (LOL)?!
Vi has to come clean about her doinga and Lily all but has a shit fit!
Lily's biggest hurdle now is how to start afresh. ...
Now just as I as I think I've got it all sorted. ...BAM ! Vivian Winslow strikes again and pulls the carpet from underneath me....leaves me hanging...again....throw me a lifeline girl !

Vivian Winslow's "Hidden Violet" is the second story in the Violet Trilogy and the eighth tale in the Gilded Flower universe. We get to know some of the men in Violet's life. Again, there are a whole cast of characters and you never know who she'll end up with eventually. I know who I'm rooting for. This one had a little more back story and a little less nookie than the other ones, but the nookie that was there was hawt, as always. The end will make you wish the next story was already available - I know I do! Hurry up and end my torture, Ms. Winslow!

This series just keeps getting better and better. I found more than one twist I was not expecting in this installment. I love how Winslow writes this series. There is no retelling of any part of the story from another point of view. So I am never bored and it's always fresh and new. I'm so excited to find out where Winslow takes me next! One thing I'm sure of the men are going to be hot and the steamy scenes will make my e-reader smoke!

Another chapter in Violet's life and I was not disappointed. Well written with intriguing characters, the author takes you on an interesting journey. Violet thought walking away would help her move on but instead she found confusion, mystery and secrets unraveling. I am enjoying Violets search for answers and look forward to much more to come.

If you haven’t read at the very least Wild Violet, you’ll want to at least have that as a foundation. I’d recommend starting at the beginning of the Gilded Flower series to get a more complete understanding.

When Wild Violet came out, I was so torn because I wanted a shot with Vi and Thomas but it quickly became impossible to ignore the chemistry she had with Andres. The two definitely had panty melting magnetism. Now after five years, she has shown up at his gallery. He is still in his arranged marriage but it’s about to end. Vi is opened to the possibility of “what could have been” again but the damage he caused her emotionally seems to keep the door shut. When Vi gets want she needs, she heads home to New York.

At last, it’s time for her and Thomas to figure out what they are. This is as good as you’d expect it to be especially since Thomas has made his allegiance to Vi clear from the time when he was helping Dahlia. They are scorching between the sheets. It’s everything I hoped for…until it’s not.

After a series of events, Vi discloses her previous business dealings with Lily and Dahlia. I think she only divulged the information because it begins to affect their lives without their knowledge. With her past catching up to her, Violet leaves behind everything for a fresh start as she re-groups.

Oh so much scandal for such a short read! I was on the edge of my seat from the first chapter. Vi can get herself into some real tight spots. We are left in another tight spot of our own at this end of this number. Yes another cliff hanger. But I have come to accept this with these short reads because you don’t have to wait long for the next book long.

Vi’s little predicament comes to the surface full force in this book. She must sort through her past and try to navigate through to her future. Oh Thomas how I adore you. I really hope that Vivian does not throw me a curveball with him. I really want Vi and Thomas to work through their differences and be a couple. They seem to understand one another and their needs.

Vi is still on a discovery mode with scandal and love life in tow. We are drug up and down in this book and given a lot of information. (feelings) Which I loved.

This book is not as sex driven as some of the other books but when we get the sex it is so hot your fingers will burn when you touch the kindle its so hot.

We again get to see Lily and Dahlia and their drama. I am always a fan when previous book characters pay a visit. This is a quick steamy and suspenseful read. I could not put it down and would highly recommend it. This is not a stand-alone.

I have read all of the books in each of the series and loved all of them. Vivian is one of my favorite authors. I am looking forward to the next and final installment.

This book brings us back to present day, where the previous book tells us Vi’s past, this book tells us the present in the Gilded Flower universe. In this installment we see how Vi attempts to live her life in truth in order to help her best friend. We see if she can reconcile her past with her present and still have a future.
I found this book very enveloping. I just had to see how it was all going to work out and how Vi navigates the present now that she’s been forced out in the open. She was so used to living her life the way she’d been living it…I don’t want to sound dumb, but this book really highlights Vi blooming into the woman that she should have felt free to be all along. I think so far this is my favorite book in the entire series.
Vi and Thomas are what drove this entire story for me. Their chemistry is so well written that it just sucked me in. This is exactly the kind of H/h chemistry I look for in a romance novel and I was so happy to have it delivered. It was tangible…loved it!
If the previous book was all about giving us Vi’s background and answering questions then this installment was all about creating more questions and mystery that I hope will be solved in the last book. Again, I’m slightly annoyed that this is a serial set of novellas instead of a full book, but that only bothers me because it’s good and I’m greedy to know what happens next. 4 stars.

Violets past comes back to threaten her and her friends. She turns to her long-time friend Thomas who, I must say sounded rather Yummy and I was rooting for them to get together.
To sort matters out Violet has to find Andres who introduced her to the profession that threatens to slap her full in the face now. There were some ahhh moments when you see how much he really cares for her but she is not the same person at all, as well as the fact that she realises that she has feelings for another – waiting patiently for her. Finally Violet and Thomas get together and it’s great for that moment – but a moment in time is all it will be. In fact Violet does not indulge in frequent sex at all in this book so when it does happen you do wish it all works out for her.
It was good to see her friends Lily and Dahlia feature in this and we get to catch up with what is happening to them too. The three girl’s lives are all entwined and to sort out one problem means figuring out what went on with the others. Violet is the one who must not only seek safety but answers too.

An enjoyable read.

Thomas oh Thomas. You get to know Thomas during Dahlia's trilogy. Though he is a tough one at first to fall in love with you soon do. Of course after he acts like an ass. Thomas truly loves Vi. He's loved her for a long time but never made a move. We get a bit more into their relationship with Hidden Violet. We also get some more of Andres too. I'm a little lost on who I want Vi to end up with. I love them both and can't pick between them. The private moment between Vi and Thomas not only for real but during her imagination ... WOW! That was hot and it was about time. We also get more of Lily and Dahlia. There of course is some drama which I wont go into details but it was crazy. By the end of Hidden Violet I didn't know what to think and had no freaking clue where Vivian Winslow was going with this story. Have to head to the next one so I can find out. Eeek!!!

She has developed so much in the past five years. I loved who she has become, and was relieved when she didn’t get into “much” trouble, much is used loosely here just because of some of the trouble she did get into.
Will she ever pick between the two, will her father give her what she needs, instead of what he think he wants?

We learn a lot about Vi in this book. If you thought Wild Violet was chalk full of information about Violet's past, this one is full of all the problems and craziness of the present.

And we finally, FINALLY, get to read about the man I've been waiting for AGES to read about! And he and Vi... *sigh* Why this girl is fighting her feelings so hard, the world may never know. (Although, I hope we'll know by the end of the next book!) I'd go into the details, but you should definitely read it for yourself.

I CANNOT believe Vi decided to do what she did at the end of this book!!! I NEED the next one to see if this is actually a good choice for her or not.

Now that we know all about Vi's past, how can she rectify the problems that seem to arise?
Vi has to travel to Spain and meet up with Andres and get to the bottom of her woes.
Just when you're wondering what's gonna happen, Thomas makes his appearance..wow, I was an Andres fan for sure, but the tension and rocketing sexual frustration going on between Thomas and Vi is divine!
Sure to keep you on edge.
I like how Dahlia and Lily still make appearances and you can tell that they can make it through just about anything, love that awesome friendship that weathers all the secrets and disillusionment.
Can't wait for book 3.
