A Grumpy/Sunshine Age Gap MM Romance

Why start something when there’s an expiration date looming over our heads?

I knew from the start that our paths in life were just meant to be a brief connection with a set ending. Atlas was heartbroken by his bastard of an ex, and I was there to comfort him in his time of need.

He might think he’s in love now, but he’ll wake up one day and realize he’s too good for someone like me.

An ex-con.

Town outcast.

The person nobody really kept.

My ex-wife left, and it’s only a matter of time before he does too.

But Atlas is persistent. He asks for a chance. A chance to show me he’s serious about me and the life we could create together.

Even if it means I’m the one who ends up with a broken heart, I agree. I’m hopeless against him.

Being with him makes me feel alive, and for the first time in a really long time, I can say that I’m happy. The feeling is foreign to me, that it makes me even more scared of losing it.

Then Atlas tells me he has a stalker. Someone who’s been following him around for months, and now I’m terrified of losing him in more ways than one.

Promised Chance is book 4 of the Promises, Promises series set in a small town with meddling neighbors and a tight-knit community of friends and family. It can be read standalone, but is better read in a series. This book features age gap, grumpy/sunshine, hurt/comfort, and a skittish black cat.

I really loved this read... two men, so opposite but with such a beautiful friendship and so much want on each side! The age gap with the younger man, Atlas, taking the risks and being persistent, Hector just doing what Atlas asked was so sweet and lovely. The tension was mostly outside the relationship and watching Hector come into his own and start to heal was very sweet!

This has been a delightful series with memorable characters in a quaint small town. It is finally Hector’s turn for his story to be told and for him to find the love of his life. Hector is a Kither Springs native from a broken home, falsely accused of a crime when he was only trying to help someone. He served a year and prison, and after that, the rumors and innuendos never stopped. Even though he ran the only sit-down diner in town, he always felt like an outcast, until Atlas stumbled into his life.

Atlas is a ray of sunshine in Hector’s lonely life, he accepts him for who he is, compliments him in a life that has had few of those, flirts and makes him feel interesting and desirable, and makes the thought of being with a man for the first time something he yearns to try. But Hector is older than Atlas, he is basically an outcast in his village, and he knows Atlas can do better. Atlas, however, disagrees. He has his sights set on this sweet, caring, huggable teddy bear, and is willing to wait as long as it takes to convince Hector that Atlas wants him and no one else. Atlas is a bright, positive influence on Hector and the town’s perception of him, and with Atlas by his side, the Diner is doing very well and it has become the center of a community gathering place. The two are together and life seems very good.

But all is not sunshine and roses, Atlas has had a stalker for months but has not told Hector, fearing he would be a burden. When Hector finds out, his protective, caring side comes out and he will do anything to protest Atlas, the young center of his world and love of his life. Many of the characters of previous books are good friends of Atlas and Hector, and they all work together to locate and apprehend the stalker, removing the last threat to their relationship, as they move forward as a committed couple and valued residents of the town.

All of the main characters in these books are portrayed realistically and are easy to like, people you would like as friends yourself. The world-building for the town creates a community that cares for each other, has gossips that keep close eyes on residents and can help with acceptance of others that might not be looked at as favorable, they have fund raisers and celebrations to bring the townspeople together for the good of their community, and they are willing to change opinions if proved wrong. It is the kind of small town that I think was the norm a couple of decades ago, before the pace of life and the internet changed things, one I would be pleased to call home. If you like that kind of place, then I think you would enjoy any of the books set in Kither Springs (same author) or it’s neighboring town of Christmas Falls (author collaboration). All of them are entertaining and engaging reads, a satisfying way to spend a quiet afternoon or evening.

I received an ARC from the author and this is my voluntary review.

“I wasn’t aware then that maybe, just maybe, the reason the universe led me to Kither Springs was to meet this person.”

Promised Chance by Rye Cox is the fourth and last book in the Promises, Promises series. It’s Hector and Atlas’s story. I’ve been waiting for their story since the very first book Promised Vow, and specially, after Atlas’s conversation about Hector with Sam. It’s been worth the wait. This’s been a heartwarming, hurt-comfort reading that is the perfect ending to the series.

“You showed me what it’s like to live in the light. You’re like a sunbeam. When the light hits through the window in perfect warmth, the entire world turns magical for a moment. You yearn for it but are afraid of getting too close and the magic ending, so you bask in its beauty until it’s gone, and long for it when it is. That’s what you are to me.”

The grumpy/sunshine dynamic here is top-tier. Hector is this big, “scary” diner owner with a scarred past and a conviction that he’s unworthy of love. Watching Atlas crash into his life and stubbornly refuse to let Hector wallow in self-doubt was everything. Atlas might be younger, but he really knows what he wants and he gives his everything when it comes to defending Hector against the small-town gossip.

“What I loved the most, though, was seeing him let his walls down and share his insecurities with me.”

The stalker subplot added just the right amount of tension. While Atlas was a bit naïve at times regarding his safety, it allowed Hector to really lean into a protective “alpha” role that goes so well in their relationship.

The cameos from previous couples was the cherry on top, and Becca and Shadow were two amazing side characters.

I haven’t had the chance to pick up The Firedancer yet, but it’s now at the top of my TBR list. I’d like to read about Hector and Rhett, and also how Rhett met Coal.

Thank you, Rye Cox for this free eARC. This is my honest review and recommendation.

What a way to finish this series!

I’ve enjoyed every book and I’m sad that it’s over. All these characters have been so special to read and see them find their own HEA.

Hector and Atlas were such a joy to read. Since they appeared on the previous book, I’ve been looking forward to reading their story and it didn’t disappoint.

Hector was exactly the teddy bear I suspected him to be. It was obvious from the moment he met Atlas that he was a caretaker. He was the type of person would go above and beyond to help others without a second thought.

Atlas left his hometown to follow the man he thought loved him and wanted to spend the rest of his life with him. Instead, Atlas discovers that he’s been lied to and finds himself alone in a new place. Not wanting to go back home with his tail between his legs, Atlas wonders into Hector’s diner.

When Atlas enters his diner, Hector’s first thought was to feed him and give him a place to stay. He didn’t even think about the possibility that Atlas could be a bad person. He just saw someone in need, and offered them his help.

Despite what the whole town thought about Hector, Atlas only saw a beautiful, kind man who cared too much about other’s safety and wellbeing. Hector was used to being treated like a criminal simply because of his record, but that didn’t stop Atlas from being attracted to him.

Atlas only saw a lonely man who needed to be cherished and appreciated. Hector was the kind of man Atlas wanted to be with. He didn’t care about the age gap or the fact that everyone warned him to steer away from Hector.

It took a lot of convincing from Atlas for Hector to finally accept that they could be something more than friends. Hector’s reasons not to give Atlas a chance were only based on his lack of self-esteem. He didn’t think he deserved someone like Atlas.

But when Atlas’s life is in danger, Hector knows that he would do anything to keep him safe. Atlas meant everything to him and he wouldn’t let anyone hurt him.

Atlas just brought out the best in Hector. He constantly showed him how much he was loved and how amazing he was. It took a while for him to believe it, but Atlas was more than willing to remind him every day.

I loved them. I loved that the whole town finally saw how big Hector’s heart was and that their opinions about him were misconstrued. He deserved to be happy and Atlas did that for him.

Atlas thought this move to Kither Springs was going to be great. Until he arrived and found out his boyfriend was a cheater and a liar. Fleeing the scene, he ends up at The Diner where he meets the keeps to himself owner, Hector. Hector lends a listening ear and even a place to stay. Now months later, Atlas is way happier and that has a lot to do with Hector. His crush has evolved into so much more and no matter how bold he is, Hector won’t make a move. But Atlas is patient and sees how Hector looks at him. He knows this man is meant for him and if given a chance he can show them just how good for one another they could be. But there is one problem, Atlas has a stalker. Hector finds himself as a bit of an outcast in his own home. Though it comes down to no one bothering to get any truths from him. So he does his best to keep to himself. Which becomes impossible with the ray of sunshine that is Hector coming into his life. He never imagined someone like Atlas caring for him. And his feelings only grow stronger. There are a lot of reasons why they shouldn’t be together, but Atlas has a way of making Hector forget and more importantly remind him that those aren’t real reasons. And just when he gives them a chance, Hector learns that someone is stalking Atlas. Hector will do whatever he can to make Atlas feel safe. Loved these two! They were utterly adorable together. Atlas truly is a ray of sunshine and Hector is just this big teddy bear. They complimented one another so well. I loved how Atlas never let anyone talk bad about Hector and was quick to set them straight. Even when Hector was hard on himself. And I loved that Hector was such a safe space for Atlas and had such a huge heart. These two were just so sweet! If this was the end of this series, it was a perfect way to go!

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Promised Chance is a lovely conclusion to the Promises, Promises series and a satisfying story for readers who enjoy a good grumpy/sunshine dynamic. Set in a small town full of familiar faces and meddling neighbours, it brings together two characters who both carry their own scars but find something unexpectedly hopeful in each other.

Hector has spent years being judged for his past. As an ex-con and something of a town outcast, he’s used to keeping people at a distance and assuming relationships won’t last. Atlas, on the other hand, arrives in town after following the wrong man and finding himself completely alone. Their first meeting at Hector’s diner says a lot about who Hector truly is – despite his reputation, his instinct is simply to help someone who needs it.

The heart of the story is watching Atlas slowly break down Hector’s walls. Atlas sees the kindness and care beneath Hector’s gruff exterior, while Hector struggles to believe he deserves someone as open and hopeful as Atlas. The age gap and Hector’s insecurities add emotional weight to their relationship, making their journey towards trust and happiness feel earned.

There’s also a thread of tension with Atlas dealing with a stalker, which adds a protective, hurt/comfort element to the story. More than anything, though, this book focuses on healing and finding a place where you truly belong.

Overall, this was a warm and emotional read with a strong sense of community and a romance that feels both tender and uplifting. A fitting end to the series and a lovely HEA for two characters who really deserved it.

I received a free copy. This review is submitted voluntarily.

Atlas moves to Kither Springs to join his boyfriend, only to catch him mid-orgy. Because he hasn’t eaten in a while, he eds up at the Diner owned by Hector. Being a truly generous soul, Hector invites Atlas to stay at his place above the Diner. Hector is a large guy who had a lot of negative gossip about him because of his parents’ drug use, his size and the scar on his face. On the other had, Atlas is a happy individual who makes friends easily ad he eds up working at the Diner. But he has a stalker that he initially kept secret from Hector. So, the story has a few tropes including age difference, grumpy/sunshine, stalker, etc.

Despite the various tropes, the plot develops in a fairly linear fashion with few detours. The two MCs were very sympathetic, and I found myself cheering for them. Hector has some problems believing that Atlas would be interested in him for any length of time. For his part, Atlas expends a lot of effort trying to get Hector to believe that he has no intention of leaving him. As well, Atlas is trying to deal with the stalker on his own, hoping to avoid being a burden on anyone. Thus, there is a degree of angst in the story, but not a huge amount. They are helped by their friends from previous books and a few new ones. And as is normal in these books, the small town is a hotbed of gossip, much of it inaccurate, though it comes I handy when they are trying to track down the stalker.

The book was a good read and I recommend it.

~* ARC Review*~

--Age Gap-- Boss x Employee-- new to town-- Grumpy x Sunshine-- Town pariah meets his sunshine chance-- Slow burn flirting-- stalker problem-- Found family--

The Grumpy Hector meets his match in a younger sunshiney young man who blew into town under bad circumstances. This whole book brings a lot of characters from the series back PLUS Atlas, our sunshine sweetie is from Christmas Falls ( check out the christmas series seriously). I love having books intertwined together personally, so this was great.

We get a sneak peak of everyone's lives as Atlas invades Hectors life and The Diner as well.
We finally get see Hector's backstory piece by piece and Atlas has a way of making Hector let down his guard.

They are a very very sweet couple, although it takes them a while to get together. It's obvious they both have a huge crush on one another, but Atlas knows he's young and Hector thinks he is ugly, mean and old and isn't a good match for him. Which, as we all know is legit perfect for Atlas.

Except a wrench has been thrown into their fairy tale story but a stalker. Atlas hides this from Hector for a while and it takes a long time for us (the reader) to figure out who the actual stalker is. A brief encounter fuels an obsession that keeps our men and their friends on their toes.

This is a story of second chances in love, life and their future. It's full of patience, sweetness, opposites in personality and lots of diner food. Also, including some sweet and spicy scenes through their budding relationship.

"Promised Chance" is the last book in the Promises, Promises series. Finally, we get Atlas and Hector's story. Atlas had moved to Kither Springs to live with his boyfriend. Arriving a day early, he finds his boyfriend about to join an orgy. Hector runs The Diner. A big man with a scarred face, he is nothing but gentle with a distraught Atlas. He feeds him, listens to his story and decides that Atlas will stay with him the night. Atlas never leaves, taking a waiter job at The Diner.
There's attraction, with Hector unable to see him as just a roommate . There's an 18 year age gap, which isn't a problem for Atlas, who decides to pursue the big man. Atlas is a ray of sunshine in an otherwise gray world, which makes it hard to resist. Chase-run, chase-run, chase-catch. They've barely had a chance to explore their relationship, when Atlas attracts a stalker.
It was a pleasure to visit Kither Springs once again. "Chance" also provides a bridge with Christmas Falls. And like that series, Rye Cox has the MCs and characters from the other books appear in "Chance". Because, honestly, it wouldn't be a Kither Springs story without grandpa and Junior (and a back killing couch). Russell sr and jr help set the timeline. The worldbuild is comfortable, The Diner a consistent landmark.
A lovely, quick read. I'm sorry to see the Promises, Promises series end. But there's always time for a reread. And I'm really looking forward to whatever our author has coming next.

PROMISED CHANCE is the forth book in the Promises, Promises series. It can be read as a standalone but does read better if you read in the order the author intended.

Atlas moves to a Kither Springs for a man he's in a relationship with and when he surprises him early, he's the one surprised when he learns his boyfriend is cheating and lying. He finds himself without anywhere to go but determined to prove he can make it on his own. He goes to The Diner and finds himself lost and feeling stupid but the quiet man who owns The Diner offers him kindness and a room in the apartment upstairs.

Hector has spent his life being an outcast. He runs The Diner and mostly keeps to himself and with Atlas in his life he's seeing things a little different. Atlas pushes himself into a job at The Diner to help Hector in any way he can. The more time they spend together Atlas knows Hector is the man for him. And Hector will do anything to protect Atlas and make him feel safe when he finds out there is someone stalking him.

I love these two so much. They were the perfect opposites attract pair. Hector was the perfect grumpy teddy bear that was the safe place for Atlas. While Atlas was just bundle of sunshine in every way.

Atlas & Hector

"People who live in the light rarely pay attention to what happens in the shadows."

"Atlas had once told me I'd built a community here at The Diner. I believed I'd created a place where people could congregate and do their own thing. I didn't think I was part of it."

The added thrill of the this story came from the unnamed villain in Atlas' stalker. The unveiling of who he was even without his name wasn't surprising after the clues given. But I loved the way each of the tense scenes played out because it really showed Atlas who he had on his side and who he could trust to help him. Hector was an amazing partner for Atlas and they worked together so well as a sweet couple and good friends. The evolution of their great friendship that led to their emotional connection and love was so beautiful. Hector was constantly on edge thinking that being with Atlas would make him more of an outside that he already thought he was. But he could not have been more wrong and I loved getting to see him recognize and rejoice in that fact.

Kither Springs brings together such wonderful people in a beautiful small town setting that it will be difficult to pull myself away from the series in town for a while (I will reread, of course), but I'm sure that as Rye has said, we'll visit there again.

I loved the sweet love from Promised Chance

**Absolutely love the fact that we get a chance to catch back up with Rhett and Coal from Black cat circus.
***After reading this story, at least 3 of the following books I read had "Promises, promises." as a quote in it. Hilarious coincidences.

MY OPINION: This is the last book in this sweet small town series. I’ve enjoyed each one. All of them are low-angst, low-drama feel-good books.

This one brings us the story of Atlas and Hector. We’ve seen Hector in the previous book briefly. The grumpy older—forties guy who runs the diner. There are rumors, but generally, he has kept to himself in the other stories.

This time we see his softer side. Even though he is a little grumpy, Atlas, who is much younger and full of sunshine, invades his space and changes life for the diner owner. This is mostly a slice-of-life book, with a little bit of a situation involved.

Atlas is there, and Hector can’t help but fall for him. Its sweet. Hector worries that someone as sweet and wonderful as Atlas would never want someone that was like him. Atlas makes sure to soothe those worries. There is some spice but its moderate, with some explicit detail but no reason to clutch your pearls. We do see a little bit from the other couples in the series. Everyone seems to be doing well which is nice.

Overall its a good series that makes you feel good. A nice group of books that you can read and feel content.

This is such a sweet romance, with a slight edge and a perfect way to finish off the series. Those who have read the other books will be well aware of Atlas's crush on Hector and it's so good to read their HEA.
My heart hurt for Hector and what he's been through, mostly from preconceived notions of what the townsfolk thought they knew about him as an ex-con, and then what they thought when his ex-wife left in the middle of the night. Atlas has no problem seeing past all of that immediately. Hector kindly offers him a place to stay when Atlas arrives a day early in town to move in with his boyfriend, and is met with a very unwelcome surprise.
The two men click so well together, regardless of their age difference, or grumpy/sunshine personalities. They balance each other out and it makes for great reading as Atlas brings Hector out from his kitchen at The Diner. It's also great to have all of the previous MC's in the book, and some of the other locals coming out to frequent The Diner and bring life back to it.
There is a slight darker side in this book that the others as Atlas has been getting notes left for him, which was seen in the previous book, but things pick up here and there is a slight edginess as things become more tense and close to home.
Overall another wonderful read from Rye and I highly recommend the whole series.
I received an ARC and am happily giving a review.

The end! This is the end of the Promises Promises series and it ended on such a great note. This is the book I’ve been waiting for so long now.

We first learned about Atlas in a Christmas Falls book, Under the Mistle-Foe. We learned about Hector in Rhett and Coal’s book, The Firedancer, and learned that he was basically Rhett’s adopted dad. We knew who they were, but we didn’t know what their story was gonna be. I kept waiting and every time we saw glimpses of Hector and Atlas in the other books of the series, I said to myself wait their story is coming.

We had somebody stalking Atlas. Then we watched a community grow around Hector. We had perceptions of Hector changing as Atlas drew him out of the kitchen and into the diner, and then we saw all of the people of Kither Springs rally around them both. I just can’t describe how great this book was, seeing these characters finally get their story. They’re such great people and you’re rooting for them to win and when they do, it is the best feeling. Rye Cox ended the Promises Promises series on such a high note. I think it will go down as one of my favorite series.

Atlas & Hector

I must say that I’ve been waiting for this story since book 1 of the series. We’ve been teased with the idea of Atlas and Hector got so long and thankfully, this did NOT disappoint!

Both characters are completely adorable. Atlas is walking sunshine, you can feel his brightness emanating from the page. Hector is gruff, silent, misunderstood ex-con with a golden heart. They both see in each other what they can’t see in themselves.

Along with the relationship development, I truly enjoyed the development of the town’s relationship with Hector. He’d been misunderstood for so long, which continued for long into the book. It was great to see the unexpected support he’d had for some time, without him even knowing.

The underlying plot behind the story in this one was interesting with Atlas‘s stalker. It definitely helped develop the relationship between Hector and Atlas, and brought in the characters from earlier in the series which we love to see. The ending to that drama was very satisfying.

A lovely story to end the series (for now, apparently)

Atlas and Hector have already appeared in the series but we don't know much about Hector at all. Finding out his history, I hurt for him and the way the town treated him was horrid. He deserved someone to see how wonderful he was and it took an outsider to realise his worth.
I loved Hector, shy and insecure, completely loveable if only someone would give him a chance. Honestly, Kither Springs didn't know what a gem they had in Hector and I wanted to go round the whole town and personally give each person a slap around the head.
Atlas was a sweetheart too, and the perfect man for Hector. Outgoing, sunny, kind and perceptive, he saw in Hector what everyone else ignored. They were total opposites but totally right for each other.
The other couples from the earlier books were out in force here, supporting Atlas as they battle to discover who his stalker is. I liked Becca very much, and also Rhett and Coal, who have their own book, The Firedancer, which I need to read now.

Atlas traveled to Kither Springs looking forward to a new beginning that turned into a big disappointment, of the cheating kind. Hector has always lived in the small town that has never been very kind to him. He keeps to himself and runs the only diner in town. When Atlas comes in to the diner after his confrontation with his newly ex boyfriend Hector sits with him, and then offers a place to stay. Slowly, but surely the sunshiny Atlas wears down his shy, older roommate Hector. Once Hector, who has only ever been with his ex-wife, realizes he has feelings for Atlas it opens a whole new world of possibility for both men. However, Atlas has an uphill battle proving that not only is he in Kither Springs to stay, but Hector has a whole group of friends and a town that stands behind him. But, Atlas has an unknown stalker that needs to be taken out first before they can truly have their HEA. This is the last book in the series, but the author delivers a very satisfying HEA for the MC’s.

I've been waiting for Hector and Atlas to finally get it together since we first met them in book one, and I was not disappointed. Their story absolutely lived up to the anticipation. This is grumpy/sunshine done perfectly, and it was satisfying to watch Atlas chip away at Hector's walls.

Hector has some valid fears and insecurities, but Atlas is so determined to show Hector that he's worth the love Atlas is trying to give him. There's tenderness, hurt/comfort, and a stalker, all leading to the kind of emotional denoumeent that can only come after a long build-up across the entire series.

Their story was worth the wait, and it was the perfect ending to a fantastic series that I've loved from the beginning. I'm genuinely sad to see this series end.

This was a sweet mm romance with an interesting sub-plot. Atlas and Hector were really well matched; they had good chemistry and you could feel the love between them. It's part of a series with lots of familiar faces mentioned but it works ok as a standalone story. I enjoyed the links between this series and some of Rye Cox's other books too (like the mention of Christmas Falls). It was well-written, had good pace and kept me interested throughout. Atlas was a tad naïve about his stalker in parts and then very cautious in others but the HEA was good and I enjoyed seeing glimpses of them years in the future during the epilogue. Overall, a good mm romance.

Cute, sweet romance between the older, grumpy restaurant owner (Hector) and the younger, new-to-town server, Atlas.

Atlas comes to town to move in with his boyfriend. He's a day early, and when he knocks on the door he finds his boyfriend is throwing the kind of party he's not interested in. Determined not to run back home, he goes to the local diner for dinner. Hector feeds him, and then gives him a place to stay. They are immediately attracted to each other despite the age gap. The romance itself is low-drama with lots of spice. The plot revolves around Atlas' stalker, hunting him down and catching him.

This works fine as a stand alone, although most of the side characters have probably shown up in the other books.

Promised Chance is the 4th book in the Promises, Promises series. This book can be read as a standalone but why not enjoy the whole series. This is the story of Atlas and Hector. I loved these two because they each have what the other needs. The chemistry between Atlas and Hector is clearly visible. You can also feel the love they have for each other. I enjoyed watching these two move from friendship to romantic partners. The plot was interesting and kept me wanting more. I hope we get more stories in this series. I would definitely recommend this book and series.

Great ending to the series.
Atlas follows his boyfriend to Kither Springs.
He arrives a day early and finds him in a compromising situation.
He has nowhere to go so he ends up at the diner and meets the stoic, grumpy owner, Hector.
He ends up telling him about his situation and ends up with not only a job as a server but also a place to stay due to Hector's generosity.
They begin a wonderful friendship that becomes so much more.
Hector has a bad reputation only because of his criminal parents, not his own doing.
Atlas soon finds himself the target of a stalker and soon Hector and the other found family rally round to help them.

Thank You, Rye, for my copy of Promised Chance, the 4th & final book in the Promises, Promises series. Promised Chance can be read as a standalone. Readers have been teased with Atlas & Hector and I desperately wanted their story. This desperation was heightened when we discovered in, Promised Secret, that Atlas had an unknown stalker. I adored getting to know Atlas & Hector and I was definitely rooting for their HEA. I especially was rooting for Hector to feel worthy of love & community.

Hector and Atlas are positively adorable together. Their relationship is sweet, with opposites attract and age gap tropes. Hector resists it at first because he thinks he is not worthy of someone like Atlas. I admire Atlas's tenacity and patience. With the stalker part of the story we get some suspense and drama mixed in with the romance and spice. As always, I enjoyed the side characters who dwell in Kither Springs, with the opportunity to revisit some of the previous characters in the series. The story is easy to read and engaging.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Rye Cox builds a world and it just keeps getting better. I love the cameos from the other series. It just makes it that more interesting and keeps you coming back not only to Kither Springs, Christmas Fall, but also the amazing Black Cat Circus. I remember Hector from Rhett and Coal’s story and I am so glad he got his happy ending. Atlas is just want Hector needs to feel that he is worthy of the attention that he gets an he learns that Atlas does love him despite everything he thinks is wrong with him. Atlas gets the love and stability that he’s been looking for. I will always come back to the folks of Kither Springs.

I don't know about you, but I have been dying to hear more about Hector since meeting him in THE FIREDANCER, someone with that big of a heart deserved to find a partner who cherished him. When I found Rye was doing a Kilter Springs series, the anticipation built once more, and we now get his story! Atlas moves to Kilter Springs to be with his boyfriend, who turns out not to be who he thought, so ends up in Hectors where he tells his woes and starts a beautiful friendship with Hector. When someone is after Atlas, all the men we have grown to love come to help stop his stalker and give these two their well-deserved HEA. The dynamics of these men was so heated you couldn't wait until they took their shot. So happy to see that this story turned out as beautiful as I had always hoped for Hector.

Possible Trigger warnings stalker and trauma related to that but story is fairly low Angst with a HEA

I loved Atlas and Hector and was glad we finally got Hectors story. I also loved seeing some of the other guys as well.
Things I would've liked a bit different...
Seeing the actual notes. It was late in story before we saw any of them.
Also would've actually like a scene with Hector telling Atlas why people disliked him and how he got his scar instead of Atlas saying He told him. And what he told him.
I did like the suspense and romance

Sadly, this is the final book in this series, and I will miss Kither Springs. Atlas makes the move to Kither Springs due to an online boyfriend, but what he finds on arrival sends him running to escape. The diner is where he ends up and Hector, the owner takes pity on him and offers him place to stay until he decides what to do next. That room becomes a job at the diner and slowly they both fall in love and grow as people. The stalker issue was well written and kept the story exciting and wanting to know the outcome.

Atlas moved to Kither Springs for an old boyfriend and found out he cheated on him. Upset and hungry he goes to the local diner where the kind owner Hector invites him to stay. Hector looks mean and scary but is really a teddy bear. Soon, he and sunshiny Atlas are in love but Hector thinks he's too old for him and worse, Atlas has someone watching him. A mystery is throughout this sweet book as the two lovebirds look for their happiness and old friends are back. I received a copy of this and this is my voluntary opinion.

Thank you for the book; here is my honest opinions:
Loved it, maybe my favorite of the series. Atlas is a delight, a truly endearing character. Hector is not quite a grump, to me, he’s more just beat down by life, disappointment, and loneliness. Underneath that, he a pretty wonderful and caring person. They are easy to root for and I loved how they compliment each other. Great side characters as well, maybe a few too many nosy neighbors. The stalker plot is pretty overused, I think, but I liked this take on it and that it enhanced the relationship, not detract from it. Lovely!
