I grew up hearing about the Dionne quintuplets. Mom was about five years old when they were born, and she followed their story with interest. When I was studying genetics, I picked up a genetics text from c1940* at a library sale. It had several chapters detailing the similarities and differences among the girls. They had the misfortune of arriving when the raising of children was prescribed by science. Poor kids. They did, however, survive.

This book is fun in the historical context. It's a mish-mash of fact and fiction, with its share of heroics. The factual section at the end of the book shows the day-to-day life of these celebrated girls.

*It also had a couple of chapters about the Jukes and Kallikaks, and the heredity of feeble-mindedness. One of these days I should locate that book and see if it's on Goodreads.
