Falling for a rock star was easy. Surviving it was something else.
Philadelphia, 1972. When nineteen-year-old Taylor Jackson meets Matt West—the magnetic guitarist of rising rock band Altered Speed—she’s pulled into a world of reckless love, loud music, and late-night gigs.
But fame has a darker side—and so does Matt.
As the band takes off, Taylor finds herself chasing a man who’s always slipping away—lost in drugs, touring, and the relentless pull of the spotlight. The more she tries to save him, the more she risks losing herself.
Because love doesn’t always fix what’s already broken.
Years later, Taylor must confront the past—and the man—that nearly destroyed her.
Shannon Hall lives in Colorado Springs with her husband, three dogs, and two cats. Her inspiration for Addicted stems from her lifelong love of classic rock and the chaotic beauty of the '70s. As a teenager, she often daydreamed of touring with Aerosmith, imagined life on the road with a band, and spent summers by the pool reading rock memoirs from Led Zeppelin, Keith Richards, and Aerosmith--especially stories told from the point of view of the bands' wives and girlfriends, which fascinated her deeply.
In her free time, she enjoys distance running, working out at Burn Bootcamp, hiking with her dogs, reading, going to concerts with her husband, and traveling.

I loved this novel! I'm usually a reader of different genres but I found myself eating this up. Start to finish was four days, which is a good sign for me.
Music, especially writing about music, is hard to do but Shannon tackled it so well I started falling in love with classic rock all over again (I was a Supernatural girlie lol). I liked how she portrayed how great drugs can be (at first) because a lot of people shy away from that and to show addiction well you need honesty.
Taylor is a classic caged woman, starved of love and safety and desperate to feel alive. And Matt is just a messy person. I liked how Taylor's story developed, without Matt being portrayed as a total POS. While still acknowledging that the patriarchal systems in place make Talyor responsible for holding the band together and Matt. I liked seeing her evolution. Overall, 10/10 novel!
Loved following Taylor and Matt as they navigated love in the fast lane of late night rock concerts, friendship ups and downs and addiction. The musician quotes at the start of each chapter were perfectly chosen and added just the right touch to set the mood for what was coming up in the story. The entire album of song lyrics provided a realistic element that made me feel like I was on tour with the band! This new author is definitely one we should keep an eye on! Can’t wait for her next novel!
