I don’t know how to rate books from this author

The story grabs you and keeps you in a chokehold. I read this one in a day and that’s with me constantly putting it down.

The author is a genius when it comes to tension, suspense, longing, anticipation, and gut punching moments. You never know where she is going. Nothing about her stories are obvious. By the end, you will be shocked and guess what will happen next and will be decidedly wrong. I love all of that. Annnnnd ADG writes a really good spice scene.

The negatives: first is the repetition. I felt like the MCs had the same conversation a million times throughout the story. If Gabby was going to move on from the cheating then lawdy stop bringing it up. Sarah kept bringing up Links failed marriage. And Link kept bringing up how much he loved gabby and how bad he messed up. That was annoying.

I’ve read three of her four series (including this one) and the three main characters are pretty similar if not the same ppl in different circumstances. The MMCs are all the same and how they treat the white FMC vs the blk FMCs is similar. The white MMC publicly chose the white FMC while lightweight terrorizing the blk FMC and making sure she stays single. The white FMCs are quasi-villains and semi crazy/delusional. They are jealous of the blk FMC even tho they get the somewhat better version, public love and affection of the MMC. And the blk FMCs are doormats with slight back bones that are ruled by hormones. They will fuss and argue, but will fall back into being the MMCs doormat. They put up with a level of disrespect that is disappointing as a blk female reader. I just want the blk FMCs to not tolerate the bs from the MMC and be more demanding of appreciation or no contact. They I would love if when they find a person outside of the MMC, they actually like them and give the situation a chance.

Link is unlikeable and the fact that Gabby allows him in her presence or keeps finding her way into his is pathetic. I don’t know how to process the DV aspect. It makes me not like the MCs even more. But even with that said, I’m still interested and anticipating what will happen next. I just hope this is the series when the blk fmcs puts herself first, the white FMC gets her just due, and the MMC either does a sufficient amount of groveling or realizes that he passed over a great thing.

If nothing else, I hope this story turns for the better and there is some character growth for all the MMCs. But I also hope that the blk FMC gets a clue and stop allowing ppl to mistreat her especially the white FMC.

In my angry feelings

I didn't think this story could get me any more annoyed than book 1 but honestly....
Sarah and Lincoln are absolutely trifling. Sarah for more obvious reasons with her twisted evil self. Lincoln is on a whole different level. He complained about Gabby trying to find happiness with next man when they're not even married nor together anymore. He is always trying to control and gaslight her and seems to see women he is attracted to only as sex objects. I can't see any way he will improve as a person as the story continues to progress. He needs to undergo a complete 180 in character, and become humble and selfless to redeem himself.
He lacks the self awareness to realise that the reason why Gabby doesn't feel that she can get back with him is because she doesn't trust him since he cheated on her and broke her heart, plus when she had suspicions about him and Sarah and confronted him, he gaslit her. He has not shown once that he can be trusted and he truly has not taken accountability for what he has done. He and Gabby have only had arguments about his infidelity but they have not sat down and had a serious and grown up conversation about what happened. Lincoln needs to open his ears and actively listen without getting defensive.
Failing that I hope Gabby finally finds happiness, preferably without him, because she deserves it. At the moment any relationship she has with Lincoln is toxic and at the end of this book I can't see that changing.
This story is very testing on your morals. It's a fantastic read, you really get to see the main characters up close and personal, flaws, warts and all. Alexandria da Great is one of the best romance authors of today. Her stories are so shocking, addictive and thought provoking, that even days after finishing you are still thinking about it and turning the events over in your head. That to me makes a story grade A+. Unfortunately it is also annoying when there is a cliffhanger involved. Anyway I cannot wait for book 3!!

I was really hoping to see a change in Gabby and Lincoln but unfortunately this didn’t happen in book 2. Don’t get me wrong, I like them but they both need some serious therapy!
Link is too weak for my liking. He just can’t be trusted, ex: the girl in the park had him thinking about dating her and more even though he just met here! And his attraction to Sarah is his weakness especially as long as they work together.
He says Gabby is the only woman he lives but his weakness to pretty women doesn’t make him a reliable partner.
No need to mention Sarah because at least we know who Sarah is but the repetitive dialogue between Link and Gabby is tiring and become filler after a while.
AdaG is an awesome writer who knows how to tell a story full of emotions that you can’t get enough of but I need the next book to resolve their issues either together or apart m!

Oh Great Heavens

Wow, just wow. After reading this series so far I absolutely hate the names Sarah and Lincoln and I hate the term Work Wife. Just grinds my gears. Any who I absolutely love this book, I'm proud of Gabby for standing her ground and I admire the growth we see from Lincoln, cause he can say sorry all he wants but actions are louder than words. F-bomb Sarah, everytime I see her POV I break out in an anger sweat. Alexandria is definitely great cause she elicits so many feels from me and keeps me hanging onto her EVERY word. She also introduced us to my new favorite character, I hope to see more of them but if not I understand. Overall I 110% recommend this book and author as a whole!

I am so caught up in the toxic drama of it all!!! Ends on a huge cliffy!!! Like HUGE! AHHH!! When is the next book, I neeeeeed it!!

The h and H are both so awful to each other, h understandably, H is still a toxic narcissist.

Cheating = H wants h back, but apparently, OW has a magic vag and a vacuum mouth as he just keeps falling into her.

h sees H with OW = h goes to work at same place as H and OW, fun times seeing the OW trying to claim H constantly

OW drama = EVIL E-V-I-L OW does some awful things: SA/R of h when she is too intoxicated to consent, undermining the h at the job, and the awful thing that happens with the cliffy!!!!

These books are like crack!!! I can't stop and when I get to the end I feel such a letdown and need my next hit.

I NEED BOOK 3!!!!

I knew I should have waited to read this book! But who am I kidding. It’s Alexandria da Great, if you’ve read her books you already know when she drops a book there’s no resisting, especially when it’s a series!
