Skylar Levine is supposed to be happy.
She’s weeks away from marrying a man everyone adores—steady, kind, predictable. But the closer she gets to “forever,” the more she can’t shake the feeling that this isn’t the life she’s dreamed of. And when Nathan Lowe, her first love and her best friend’s brother, returns to town in hopes of finding some inspiration for his music score, delicate façade she’s built starts to crack.
Nathan has spent years chasing perfection at a piano bench and coming up short.
Every time he faces his unfinished piece, it leads him back to one his music hasn’t had its heart since Skylar walked away. Now that he’s back in town to try finding that spark that he lost, the notes come easier, but the risk of getting there becomes greater.
Because this time, one wrong move could break both of them for good.
As old sparks ignite and buried emotions resurface, Skylar must decide whether to keep playing it safe or finally listen to the part of her that’s still his. But trusting Nathan again means confronting the fear that’s haunted her for years—the fear that love, no matter how true it may be, might hurt more the second time around.
Especially when he was the one who broke it first.

His Perfect Melody by Aria Harding is a beautifully emotional second chance romance that really pulls at the heart.

From the very beginning, I was drawn into Skylar and Nathan’s story and the complicated history between them. There is something so relatable about Skylar standing on the edge of a life that looks perfect on paper while quietly questioning if it is truly the life she wants. That inner conflict felt very real and made it easy to connect with her.

Nathan’s character added such a tender layer to the story. His struggle with his music and the way everything always seemed to lead back to Skylar made their connection feel deep and genuine. The author did a lovely job showing how some loves never fully fade, even after years apart. Their chemistry was emotional and nostalgic, and every interaction between them carried the weight of their shared past.

The story moves at a gentle pace that really allows the feelings and memories between them to unfold naturally. I especially loved how music was woven throughout the story as a reflection of Nathan’s emotions and the bond he shares with Skylar.

While there were moments where I wished for a little more tension or deeper exploration of certain conflicts, the emotional core of the story still shines through. It is a heartfelt reminder that sometimes the love you once had never truly leaves, it simply waits for the right moment to be heard again.

Overall, His Perfect Melody is a touching and romantic read about first loves, second chances, and finding the courage to follow your heart even when it is scary. If you enjoy emotional romance with a musical backdrop and characters who share a long history, this is definitely one to add to your TBR.

His Perfect Melody is a graceful second chance romance between
Skylar & Nathan years later after they parted ways. Skylar is now engaged, in a loveless relationship, and Nathan decides it's time to move back. They decide to 'resume' their friendship and of course, this stirs up all kinds of emotions. Skylar wants to look perfect externally but constantly struggles with inner conflict. Nathan has his own battles with his music but is always so genuine when it comes to Skylar. Their interactions scream nostalgia and unresolved pain.

This story truly shows that sometimes you must take a leap of faith for what you want, and that some things never truly fade away, even with time. It's a cute romance story with woven-in melodies. Thank you Happily Booked PR and Aria Harding for ARC opportunity.

Skylar and Nathan's story was an emotional rollercoaster. They grew up together and both secretly wanted the other. On her prom night, they spend it together and tell each other everything only for Nathan to break her heart and tell her he's leaving to study abroad. It's been six years and Skylar is now engaged, unhappily though. Nathan moves back and they pick up their friendship and Skylar has all sorts of mixed emotions. She's always been the strong one and won't disappoint her family by breaking up her engagement even though her fiance and her hardly talk or see each other. Until she can't take it anymore. Nathan is there supporting her no matter what. She has a lot of feelings and their past to work through. Nathan shows her how much she means to him.

This is the first book I have read by Aria Harding. I started it not realizing it was the third book in a series. Thankfully I didn’t feel like you need to read the others first in order to read this one, it just would have provided the story of the other couples.
The relationship between Skylar and Nathan was so sweet. It’s something that most people wish for. They are perfect for each other and Nathan is so amazingly patient with Sky. He knows what/who he wants and will do anything to make sure she is his at the end of the day

This was well written and interesting but it was definitely my least favorite in the series so far. Thank you so much to happily booked and Aria Harding for the opportunity to read an arc copy. I love second chance romance and I enjoyed Nathan but I had a hard time relating to Skylar at all and I think that threw me off. I couldn’t understand why in the world she felt the need to keep the relationship secret from her very best friend. I did love the way everything came together in the end.

Part 3 to the series. I love how her books intertwine but give no indication of the one before or after. This is a sister best friend best, best brother situation and it was so gentle and sweet. Skylar had a lot of unresolved trauma and I think it’s what made this story line so strong. Easy to love all the characters and the whole series!

I truly love Aria and her stories. Her FMC and MMC are very well written along with the secondary characters.
It's also nice to see returning characters back like old friends.
Always a privilege to ARC read for her.
