«لا يا حضرة … إحنا ناس عُقَلا محترمين … حضرته يبقى البك الكبير مدير بوسطة الناحية … وحضرتي صاحب صالونات حلاقة الناحية.»
في هذا العمل الدرامي، يأخذنا «توفيق الحكيم» إلى قريةٍ نائيةٍ قُربَ محطة سكة حديد؛ حيث تسير الأمور بمنطقٍ يغيب عنه العقل والنظام. تبدأ الأحداث في دُكان «حلَّاق» غريب الأطوار، يتبنَّى فلسفةً مثيرةً للقلق في التعامل مع زبائنه، وبالقُرب منه يدير «مُوزِّع» البريد «بوسطة» القرية بأسلوب عبثي؛ إذ يترك الرسائل للمارَّة ليختاروا منها ما يشاءون، بعيدًا عن الأسماء والعناوين. وسط هذه الفوضى، تتدخَّل الصدفة لتقود شابًّا غريبًا إلى لقاءٍ غير مُتوقَّع عند المحطة، في حين يراقب المشهد من بعيد «أفندي» غامض، يُثير الريبة بوجوده … فإلى أين ستقود هذه العشوائيةُ أبطالَ الحكاية؟

Tawfiq al-Hakim or Tawfik el-Hakim (Arabic: توفيق الحكيم Tawfīq al-Ḥakīm) was a prominent Egyptian writer. He is one of the pioneers of the Arabic novel and drama. He was the son of an Egyptian wealthy judge and a Turkish mother. The triumphs and failures that are represented by the reception of his enormous output of plays are emblematic of the issues that have confronted the Egyptian drama genre as it has endeavored to adapt its complex modes of communication to Egyptian society.
