Superbly researched, this was clearly a massive undertaking. Bothma makes you feel the day to day struggles of both sides in this conflicting without choosing a side and making only rarely a conclusion of his own. Nor does he shy away from the great and less great things from all those involved. Men that have begun to trancent into Afrikaner folklore are shown to be very human here. A must read for anyone interested in South Africa history.
