Romanian writer and editor of dark speculative fiction. Editor-in-chief of Tenebrous Press and writer of WHISPERWOOD, THE NIGHT SHIP, and TATRATEA, as well as short stories and articles.
Fans of Premee Mohamed's Butcher of the Forest will be right at home in this psychedelic post-apocalyptic fantasy. Rarely has an author played with the unreliable narrator mechanism as effectively as Woodroe does here. The periphery of this Wonderland world is always a little blurry, but that keeps the reader's tunnel vision focused squarely on the madness they're witnessing. If the Haunting of Hill House took place in Area X of the Southern Reach, it would look something like this addictive novella and its accompanying short, which hails from the same intriguing near-future realm. The plot moves quickly and there are marvels and horrors in equal measure around every corner. A compulsively readable fantasy adventure.
Count your fingers and check your reflection, it's all about set and setting in Tatratea.
