Imagine a world without computers, cars, telephones, or airplanes. Have you ever wondered how these things were invented? From steam trains to underground trains, and from parachutes to space shuttles, this exciting book is bursting with intriguing facts and figures about the inventions that have made the world what it is today.
Over six-and-a-half feet tall, with a bushy beard, Philip Ardagh is not only very big but also very hairy. He is the author of the Eddie Dickens Trilogy and when not writing silly books, Mr. Ardagh is quite serious and frowns a great deal. He lives in a seaside town somewhere in England with his wife and their son, Fred.
This book is really meant for kids (found it in my son's library!), but I enjoyed reading it nonetheless. Philip has told the story of all these inventions in a very engaging manner, and there were several things that either I didn't know, or had forgotten! Overall, an enjoyable read
