Stacy Butcher is the only woman on the sales team, and she’s damn good at her job. She knows her tractors, knows her customers, and prefers the yard over the office.
Emma Booth runs the business with precision—organised, disciplined, and firmly in control. Especially when it comes to Stacy's half-cooked paperwork.
After an awards night ends with them tangled in the sheets, Emma pulls back. One night. One mistake.
By morning, she’s adamant they return to being strictly professional. But the space between them is charged. Full of unfinished conversations and sizzling tension.
Day by day, the line between professionalism and desire grows thinner.
When a well-intentioned gesture reveals just how little they know about each other, everything they’ve been building threatens to unravel.
A sapphic romance set in New Zealand's agricultural industry, where two women can’t quite stay in their lane.
In 2016, Donna Jay published her first sapphic romance. Since then, she has published eighteen more books, three of which made the number one spot in lesbian fiction.
Her stories feature resilient women, thought-provoking storylines, have plenty of heat, and are all set against the stunning backdrop of her home country, New Zealand.

When she’s not writing, Donna can be found with her nose stuck in a book, or her backside glued to the sofa, binge-watching post-apocalyptic movies.

What do you get when two strong women co-workers who aggravate, yet are attracted to each other? A brilliant story filled with humour and spice. Let me just say, I love how thoroughly Donna Jay develops characters. They have layers and depth that make them feel so relatable; I can imagine myself sitting next to them in a room—well, maybe not in every room. But it’s the balance between narrative and dialogue that brings them to life for me. And I would be remiss not to mention the doggos as important characters in the story. I loved the way Jay shows how the relationship Stacy and Emma each have with their dogs is reflective of their individual personalities. You’ll laugh. You’ll probably cry a bit. And you’ll fan yourself a lot too, just sayin’. This is a good time for a feel-good story. Honestly, this story made me feel happy. And as with every Donna Jay story I’ve read, I learned new things about New Zealand—and I didn’t even travel there.
The sizzle is turned up in this sapphic romance by Donna Jay. Spice level is 🔥 🔥 🔥 which is higher than her previous books and that's just fine with me. I really enjoyed the story and the sass. I especially like that her characters are relatable. I had not read 44 Hours, which stars characters with a cameo in this book and I look forward to reading about them.
This is one of DJ's best. The plot is fairly straight-forward, but the details are wonderful. The major challenge is both intense and honest, and doesn't diminish either character. The secondary characters were well developed and useful to the story. Lots of timely topics are discussed, keeping focused on the reality of living life today, without any preaching. New Zealand plays an important role, with several new settings to explore.
This is probably the spiciest DJ story so far. Quality, creativity, intensity, and lots of it!
I look forward to more stories like this one from this author.
I absolutely loved this office romance. Not too heavy, plenty spice, lots of humour, and so much connection. The lightness of this book makes it feel realistic and you can relate to the characters. The dogs are just adorable, and integral to the plot! Another absolute cracker from Donna Jay. She’s become a go to author for a reliably enjoyable book. This story is set in the same workplace as her previous book 44 Hours and features the main characters from that book briefly!
This is a delightful, lighthearted, sexy sapphic romance set in New Zealand. The mains, Stacy Butcher and Emma Booth, both worked for Pasture Farming. Emma was the sales manager and Stacy worked in sales.
These two ladies provided loads of smiles for my reading pleasure because of the incredible chemistry and hotness between them. Emma was meticulous in her work ethic and seemed to be constantly frazzled by Stacy’s frequent mistakes. Stacy grew up on a farm and, as the only female in sales, she was an excellent sales person but careless in other important ways, causing constant anxiety to Emma.
Things began to shift when they both went on an all-expense paid weekend to Waihehe Island for the annual company awards presentation. A wine-induced evening ended with them in bed together.
Having to now walk a fine line in the office, their vow and mantra became to remain strictly professional. Well, at least their intentions were good, and with the loads of one-liners, innuendos and double entendres that lingered between them, this relationship gifted me with so many smiles. I found the two of them just so much fun to read.
The book also had an interesting, additional side-story involving their pet dogs. Stacy’s dog, Fritz, was a miniature schnauzer who ran free on the farm, friends with everyone. Emma’s dog, Trixie, was a rescue greyhound, sweet but very guarded. Their personalities being different, it was a challenge as they tried different ways to get the dogs to be friends, too.
I really enjoyed this book. Donna Jay is a great storyteller and I thank her for the advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review.
I received this book as an ARC read and this is my honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. The banter between the MCs had me laughing aloud a few times. There was a good bit of spice in this book as well, there is tension over who’s in control during the scenes. As both MCs are strong, confident woman who are used to taking the lead, this plays back into the banter between them. I really enjoyed how big of a part the two dogs played in this story. As a foster home for my own local rescue, I really appreciate that Donna Jay wrote about the treatment of racing greyhounds, many are not treated well. Through fostering I have met a good few, they are lovely, gentle dogs and deserve better. I was happy to read New Zealand is stopping the racing industry. Now if only other countries would fallow suit. I was also delighted for the cameo from the MCs of 44 Hours - one of my favourite books by Donna Jay. It was nice to get a glimpse into how their lives had progressed. There is also a bonus story available, through Donna Jay’s newsletter that was a nice little update on how Emma and Stacy (the MCs) lives had progressed over the fallowing couple years. I like it when the end doesn’t leave me guessing.
I really enjoyed this workplace romance between Stacey Butcher and Emma Booth. Mainly, because of their flirty banter and the initial, subtle animosity, which wasn't really animosity at all. This quickly escalates into flirtatious banter when they both go on a company tour to potentially accept awards, and there they get closer than they ever thought possible. They're nominated for their outstanding work, and on this trip, they discover new sides to each other. Emma is strict in the office, always professional, and always in control. Stacey is a sales genius, a whirlwind in the office, and a thorn in Emma's side because she's disastrous with paperwork. So, each has her role at the office, and both are rather dominant in their private lives. This can only lead to one thing—hot nights, hotter chemistry, and even much more. Meeting the two main characters from one of my favorite books by Donna Jay was a nice bonus! This was a more lighthearted book, with hot main characters and their adorable pets. There's a little bit of drama involved, so all in all, a well-rounded work. Thanks so much for the ARC! This is my honest review.
Donna Jay has written a book that is both humorous, serious heat, and even contained some problems encountered in everyday life!
Stacy and Emma, the main characters have a tenacious relationship at work. Emma is the office person and Stacy is a sales person of farming equipment. One of few women in that field.
Both women have been nominated for awards and spend a weekend at the company awards banquet with Emma drinking a little too much wine but Stacy sees a side of her that she has never seen before!
Both women come home with awards and something more. While at the banquet Stacy is subjected to disparaging remarks from a sales person within the company who was also nominated for the same award Stacy was.
The book was very well written and flowed very well between the characters. I enjoyed this book and look forward to more from this author!
“Strictly Professional” by Donna Jay is one of those books that starts fast and keeps the momentum going throughout. Stacy sells farm equipment and is very good at selling. Emma is the office manager who has to make sure all the company’s paperwork requirements are met and completed. Stacy is not very good at her paperwork; Stacy drives Emma up the wall because of her paperwork. Stacy teases Emma; Emma bickers at Stacy. Their repartee is ongoing and quite funny. And you know it hides secret attractions by both parties. The company sends them to an awards ceremony, wine is added, gloves come off, then the rest of their clothes. Their office conflicts become an intense workplace romance that just won’t go away. There are a few setbacks along the way just like in real relationships, but humor and magnetic attraction combine for an extreme chemistry that can’t be denied. Overall this is a fun, sexy book with two strong sexy women. I enjoyed it immensely.
This is an office romance like l've never read before. Funny, flirty, a little angsty and because it's Donna Jay...hot! Emma Booth: the strict, professional and in control office manager. Stacey Butcher: always bursting into Emma's office, never finishes her paperwork and the only woman on the sales team for their tractor supply company. Their flirty office banter becomes more when they are sent on a company trip for an awards weekend where they are nominated for top awards. That night they find out a lot about each other. They find out that they are both dominant in their personal lives. This is where the heat begins. Their chemistry is scorching. Then the drama, of course drama, joins the mix. Can they get past this drama and find their HEA? Donna Jay has brought us some excellent stories, but in my opinion, this is the best one she's written and is definitely my favorite.
This is a highly entertaining book that makes you smile, laugh and occasionally growl (due to Joel) and also get hot under the collar because Donna Jay always writes sizzling scenes!! Emma and Stacey’s personalities, albeit chalk and cheese on the surface, draw you in so you are rooting for them from the start. Then for dog lovers you have Fritz and Trixie both with their own unique, cute personalities. And also an Easter egg for 44 Hours which was lovely. Thanks to Donna Jay for the ARC. I’m happy to leave this honest review.
Cute, fast paced work romance. Wouldn’t categorize this as enemies to lovers they didn’t have any real conflict they both just liked to annoy each other. I didn’t like how Emma treated Stacy for that first date scene but overall they were pretty cute together. You will get a good laugh with this read. This is borderline with the insta love trope so if that’s not your jam maybe pick up another Donna Jay option! She has got plenty of awesome choices!
Thank you for the ARC copy in exchange for an honest review!
Another great read by Donna Jay! Thoroughly enjoyed this book. It had a bit of everything. Who doesn't love an enemies to lovers kinda theme but this one had equal parts of that along with added humour. As well as that the addition of a tale of two tails (doggy dramas), and the interesting opposing perspectives of greyhound racing completed an intricate story. Set in rural New Zealand, as a Kiwi this was cool to read but I believe it would be incredibly interesting to those not from New Zealand. I definitely recommend this book. Well done Donna!
Such an enjoying and engaging read. I really liked Emma and Stacy’s relationship! Their dynamic was so entertaining and their chemistry is hot!! I loved how the dogs play a big role in this story. I’m a dog mom and it made the characters even more lovable. I was not excepting it to have as many spicy scenes as it did but that is always a great bonus and one I’m not mad at. Love when you get a great story with some spice in it. Will definitely be checking out other books from this author!
This story combines sexy and sweet in easy reading romance. No big deceptions or angst, just 2 women getting to know each other. It is funny, warm hearted and sexy. The conflicts that arise are real world couple issues with realistic and caring resolutions. Even sexual conflicts, which happen, are addressed in honest, open and patient ways. I was glad to relax into this book and just enjoy it.
I read this as an ARC and this is my honest review. I really enjoyed this sweet, but also at times not, story. Reading the two of them warring for dominance was fun. HEA, and nothing bad happens to the dogs.
I really enjoyed this book and didn’t want it to end. Enjoyed all the back and forth banter, and playful side of Stacy and Emma. Loved the dogs, and the spice. I wasn’t ready for it to end.
There is just so much to like about this book from the chemistry between the MC's and the two adorable dogs, with their own individual personalities, to the cameo appearance of Ellaine and Jennifer from Donna Jay's book 44 Hours. The whole thing comes together under the backdrop of the authors beloved country of New Zealand which she always describes so vividly. It is a sexy, fun, low angst read about two very dominant women and how they navigate the fact that neither one wants to submit. This is handled so well and it really feels like it works for them. There is also so much great banter between Emma and Stacy and I enjoyed how they managed to flip so many everyday sayings on their head and got you wondering about how some of them ever came into existence. I love the fact that I always come away from Donna's books having learnt something new and in that, this book is no different.
