Connect is the only integrated learning system that empowers students by continuously adapting to deliver precisely what they need, when they need it, how they need it, so that your class time is more engaging and effective. Perfect for the non-major/allied health student (and also appropriate for mixed majors courses), this text provides a rock solid foundation in microbiology. By carefully and clearly explaining the fundamental concepts and offering vivid and appealing instructional art, "Microbiology: A Human Perspective" draws students back to their book again and again! The text has a concise and readable style, covers the most current concepts, and gives students the knowledge and mastery necessary to understand advances of the future. A body systems approach is used in the coverage of diseases.
Somebody tell me why this book isn't assigned in Jr High or High School. This is a great book. If I had kids I'd read it to them myself. Maybe then we could get them to wash their hands (who knew it took so very little E.coli to cause disease and so quickly!) The insights into WHY you "should" do this or that would resonate so much clearer than "Do what I tell ya". The things in this book are things EVERYONE should know about their own bodies and how to protect them. The pacing was great, as was the vocabulary within the sections and the extras in the back and it only took me 28 days to read it cover to cover with most chapters being only around 20 pages.
I learned that I my best subject is *not* Micro, after taking this class 2X, I surrender. Maybe it was the instructors, maybe it was my stubborn frustration w/their outdated, blurry handouts/exams... but again, I say: this is not for me. Interesting & important, yes. Makes me feel dumb.
