Public servants need an independent commitment to serve the public and do so by balancing virtue, principle and beneficial consequences. Public administrators challenge political leaders to help them govern wisely. We can’t become tools of political masters.

I must give a disclaimer that Dr. Svara was on my dissertation committee. And, I have not read the book cover-to-cover. However, I used part of it to supplement my class on public administration class tonight as we discussed ethics. The book provided a nice framework. I am going to hang on to my library copy a little longer so I can take more of it in.
