Frosty the Snowman had a heart of ash and coal, with a jagged smile carved ear to ear, and two eyes that missed no soul. Children whispered tales of him in winter’s biting cold, of the night, he rose from silent snow, to murmur,
I freaking love a Jack Frost retelling! Add to that a thick FMC, a stalking situation, and the fact that it’s a novella, AND I’M SOLD!!
I absolutely adored Viviane and related to her on so many levels. She often was thinking self-deprecating things about herself that I have also thought about myself, and it made it totally relatable; however, I wanted to hug her and tell her “no honey, you are misguided”. Funny how that works for your view of others but not yourself 🤣
And boy how I loved Jack! I loved how he could manipulate his form and even enter her dreams for a bit of somno fun 😉 I also loved how he recognized Viviane’s insecurities and did away with them completely by showing how much he worshipped her and her body. Finally, I loved how he made it completely up to her how far their “relationship” progressed.
Lastly, I loved the mythological background behind different guardians in the world. I’m looking forward to seeing if Night and Gia will create more novellas of different guardians for us.
Thank you to Nina Gia and Katie Night for the opportunity to read this book. The thoughts and opinions expressed above are honest and my own.
A dark romantacy retelling of Jack Frost: Marked by frost rating: 5⭐️
Viviane, our FMC, is a girl like us here, no literally, a girl who listens to audiobooks and reads her physical ones. An everyday modern girl who dreams of spicy and full of adrenaline adventures. A girl who feels the need to be accepted and desired for who she is. And of course, as all of us in this world, we are all unique and important, a work of art ❤️ (Never forget it). As she reads her favorite genre, she receives a text from her parents that the storm is blocking them from reaching their cabin and so our girl is alone. But something is lingering in those woods. She feels she's been watched and maybe it's not because of her overactive imagination.
Jack Frost, our MMC, the embodiment of winter has been practically watching her since the moment she arrived in the deserted family cabin. Something pulls him to her and he can't take his eyes off her. He will do everything in his power, and more so she will be his. But his existence is tricky so he will have to find a way for Viviane to believe in him.
The novella is amazing. You can feel the chilly cold that surrounds the cabin. You can see in the eyes of your mind the landscapes and the whole aesthetic. Those 2 women wrote something fantastic and I really can't fathom it could be different. Both their pens together drew magic. You should read this one. It's quick, steamy, and with HEA. Before you read, you should be careful with the trigger Warnings (as always). Also the authors are giving us a Playlist with this!

Marked by Frost is a short, dark paranormal romance novella with a genuinely creative concept—one I honestly haven’t come across before.
Viviane is stranded alone in her parents’ cabin when she starts sensing a presence… one that’s ancient, powerful, and tied to winter itself. Enter Jack Frost—cold, dangerous, and quietly intoxicating. The atmosphere is icy, isolated, and eerie in the best way, and the yearning between them? That part worked really well for me. The slow pull, the desire to touch, to feel, to exist in each other’s space—it was done right.
Where the book slightly lost me was the spice. On paper, the elements are hot (yes, ice play, yes, creative ideas), but for me, it didn’t fully hit. Not because it was bad—just because I expected it to go harder than it did. The tension and build-up were stronger than the payoff, and I found myself wanting a little more intensity to match the concept.
That said, for a novella, this was still an engaging and quick read. The plot was interesting, the idea was fresh, and the yearning absolutely carried the story. It’s one of those books where the vibes and effort are very much there, even if it didn’t completely wreck me the way I hoped.
Overall, a solid 4 stars for the originality, atmosphere, and emotional pull—just don’t go in expecting maximum spice chaos.
Who knew I needed a dark and spicy Jack Frost retelling??? But let me tell you, I did.
Viviane is a curvy FMC, who loves her books just like all of us. But she also wants to be accepted for who she is. And Jack Frost, he is winter, and has been in this role for hundreds of years. But Viviane has caught his attention like no other. He can’t help but watch her and wants to claim her, but he first has to get her to believe in him.
This book was like no other. He invades her dreams, and let me tell you they get steamy. The longing and yearning for one another, even when she isn’t sure exactly who she is desiring.
This is a quick, delicious, and spicy little novella. Trust me, you will never look at the cold the same way again.
While snowed in alone at her family's cabin, Vivian decides to settle in with a spicy audiobook. Suddenly, she sees a shadow outside. The shadow of a man. Curious, Vivian steps out only to discover novody is there...
He stalks her. He will claim her.
I devoured this novella! The yearning, the tension, the build-up... 🥵🔥 Both characters are described well enough to clearly be pictured in the reader's head (even without the character art). The chemistry was sizzling enough to melt the ice caps! My fellow spice lovers: Marked by Frost is not to be missed!

This was a nice short quick read. Dark romance, slash stalker. the thick curvy fmc alone in a cabin lives out her most wanted needed fantasy all while being her bratty self. The mmc was a good take on the character Jack Frost. dark and edgy with a little playful side to him as well. Love the creative process to see what fun snow and ice can be lol. Not a heavy plot line, very quick read. the spice was good. would recommend.
Don’t let the cover fool you, there are some very fun things inside this book…and I’m not just talking about the artwork because that is amazing . While Marked by Frost has some dark elements majority of it was light. I did not want to put down. If you can read it in one sitting I highly recommend it. My only complaint, I didn’t want it to end. As always I love anything that Katie writes and will be looking for more books written by Nina Gia.
Vivian and Jack Frost 😈 I didn't know I needed this retelling and I frickin loved it!! This was deliciously dark, sexily twisted, playful, chillingly spicy and oh so angsty 🧎♀️ Even though it is a novella, there is so much to explore between these characters and everything they have to offer!
The writing is incredible and gripping! I finished this in one sitting because I couldn't stop flipping the pages 😈🤭 The ending was so frickin steamy and cute 😏🤭❤️ I am in love with them! Thank you so much, Katie and Nina, for this ARC 🥹❤️
This was cute! Cute idea, cute characters. What's love and passion without a little frostbite?
I feel represented living in a cold climate. There is love out there for me. I just have to develop a snow and ice kink and I'll be set (maybe even build myself a snow Daddy).
Thank you Katie Night and Nina Gia for this ARC Novella of Marked By Frost!
This was delicious🩵 The build up and the teasing and the torturous darkly Swoony vibes that were Jack Frost was ultimate perfection! Viviane was meant to be his, from the moment he saw her coming up the mountain to watching her read her book and invade her dreams!!
These two were made for each other, true soulmates, the when everything came together left me wanting more but also completely satisfied!

Short, sweet & spicy, oh my! This was a wonderful retelling of Jack Frost. He found her, he wants her, he needs to convince her the dream he helped her have could be real. Will Vivienne run away? Or run for him?
SHORT,SEXY WITH THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF SPICE . LOVED THE CHARACTERS (JACK FROST HAS MY HEART) .FOR ME THE ENDING WAS A BIT RUSHED BUT IT IS DO BE EXPECTED FROM A NOVELLA,YOU CANT HAVE EVERYTHING NOW , CAN YOU ? (JUST SO YOU KNOW JACK HAS A REALLY DIRTY MOUTH AND KNOWS HOW TO USE IT)
⭐⭐⭐⭐ Spicy, frosty, and impossible to put down. Vivian is claimed by Jack Frost, and their chemistry turns primal fast. Short, scorching, and perfect for a quick, steamy escape.
Every year, Vivian and her family come to stay in their family cabin in the winter, and much to her disappointment, discovers she'll be spending the weekend alone. Snowed in, without her parents, just until the storm relents. Until then, they'll be staying in a hotel. Deciding to listen to a spicy audiobook, her eyes catch a suspicious shadow outside. A man's silhouette. Heart pounding, mind wild with fantasies, she ventures out only to find it gone. What about the alluring man in her dreams? Is he a figment of her mind? The delicious sensation of constantly being watched... Is it all her imagination?
AHEM. When I tell you I devoured this plate of scrumptiousness in one sitting, I'm not joking. It's hella steamy, thrilling, and captivating despite being less than 100 pages. I certainly found myself giggling, especially at the snowman scenes. Rather cute, actually. And the spice is done so well: *chef's kiss!* ... UGHH, SUBLIME. Both MMC and FMC compliment each other so well, I love them, and their chemistry is off th charts. A few times, my eyes went 👀. Particularly, ahem-ahem, when he "modifies" something on her. Excuse me, Sir. That is hot in a WTF kinda a way. What a way to wake up, huh, Miss FMC? And the icicle scene. So many f*cking scenes. A CONCOCTION OF PERFECTION.
This an amazingly inspired/retelling of Jack Frost. Quite refreshing, no pun intended. The yearning and tension are so well written. I can feel it in my bones! OH MY LORDT. You sense the eeriness of the building atmosphere of the FMC being watched, and at the same time, the POV of Jack's desperate need to claim her and make her his is portrayed so good. I like seeing both perspectives. Efficient world building, good character growth, and the plot line does not drag for me. If you like a paranormal romance with a splash of dark romance in a Jack Frost retelling novella, which also has suspense and yearning, atmospheric scenes that are immersive and wonderfully written, captivating characters and a sweet HEA, then this one is for you.
A Jack Frost retelling?! Count me in! I loved this paranormal romance. This was my first introduction to the author's work, and I can say that I truly enjoyed it.
Viviane travels to the cabin her parent are supposed to meet her at only to find she will be staying there along...yay snowstorms. She takes advantage of her personal time and plays a spicy audiobook but mid-pleasure only to feel a chill in the air that is not only terrifying but tantalizing.
Jack finds Viviane alone and after seeing her, knows what he wants more than anything; to break her, to mold her, to make her his.
This was a very quick novella and boy was it spicy! I will never look at an icicle the same way. If you are looking for plot, this is not the book for you. The author is very upfront and clear about that from the beginning. This is a smut read for those who want a quick dose of spice in their lives.
I truly loved this story and hope the author chooses to write more retellings in this fashion.
Honestly this retelling was all I needed the past days! It's fun, easy going, with a lot of teasing and spicy scenes that could melt an iceberg 😜🤭 Although it's a novella doesn't lack the plot (okay it's small but it's there) we have a bit description of the scenery where Viviane was snowed in and a stalker who will do anything to keep her there. I loved that the fmc is a curvy girl, we don't see it much and how fierce, intuitive and braty she was. Jack Frost was the man, well that's one way to say it, who could turn her world upside down and gave her what she always craved for. Plus in this novella you learn new ways to use the ice 😜 and how eventually everyone got their happy ending. Wanted a few more pages in the end, felt a bit rushed but can't complain 😊
I loved reading every page and I highly recommend it!
Going into this book I didn't know what to expect because I have not seen "The Rise of the Guardians". But as I read the book I was hooked by the first few pages! With how the world was described, and how you could clearly see through both characters eyes as they told you what they were seeing. Now when you get to Chapter 8.....Oh My Gods! That was just absolutely wonderful!!! I would honestly love to see a follow up book with either continuing with these characters or by seeing others introduced. Over all one of the best Novellas I've read!
