He was my best friend’s older brother. A firefighter who kept his heart behind locked doors.
I went to Hocking Hills for quiet and found Aiden Sloan instead, all uniformed control and eyes that said don’t. The warnings were loud. I stayed anyway.
Twelve-year age gap, family lines, and bad timing.
But my body stepped over them like they were ash. His hands left proof, his mouth wrote promises he refused to speak, and I let the heat take what it wanted.
By morning, he was steel again, shutting doors like he hadn’t just undone me.
I gave him one night, and he gave me a scar I still feel in the dark.
So I built a life that didn’t include him. A ring, a baby, and a divorce that taught me how to breathe through pain.
Then my bar went up in smoke, and the captain on the hose was the only man who ever made me burn. His gaze caught on my son like a match finding paper.
When he offered his penthouse, the walls turned to tinder.
The fire wasn’t finished with me, and neither was Aiden.

This is a beautiful second chance romance. Aiden (MMC) and Harper (MFC) had one night together six years previously to their reconnecting. He is Harpers best friends much older brother. Aiden had gone on to make a life for herself. Now as a newly divorced single mom, to her son Mason, Aiden comes to their rescue when there is a bar fire. Neither had forgotten about the other, and there is pain and regret for the years that had separated them. They not only are dealing with their unfinished feelings, and all of the emotions that they bring up, anger, hurt, fear, frustration, pain, and love. But dealing with the threat of arson and Harpers battle with her ex-husband over Mason. The plot is well paced, with relatable characters, with plenty of drama, suspense and hope for a HEA for Harper and Aiden. Aiden and Harper were fire. They reconnect after one unforgettable night together. And there’s still sparks between them. Harper’s dealing with Ava ex that just went go away though and Aiden isn’t about to just stand by. Both of them know there’s more lingering between them than being friends. Ex out of the way and let the fireworks begin. This book was a real page turner, almost lit me on fire. Enjoyed every fiery moment.

I started reading this romance book by Leah and found myself engrossed by the characters and romance. This is a ★★★★★ romance book and I enjoyed Harper and Aiden and their hot chemistry. They are addicting and their connection is palpable to read.
Loved the characters, the setting and the story. The writing was superb. Sometimes you gets book that the writing is stilted and the story doesn’t flow very well. The writing was beautiful, felt like I was in this group of people, great job, Leah.
