This romantic thriller read like a film noir of old. Declan Rhodes masterfully placed us in the heat of New Orleans, mesmerizing us with the food and drink in Luca's kitchen. A mystery-thriller that kept me there not by angst, but by ambiance and a dive into a musical world only N.O can offer. The romance was a subtle bystander, delicately unraveling as Luca and Thiago try to solve the mystery in time to save the life of a beloved maestro.

This publication is part of a series featuring a security firm specializing in discreet protection for high-profile individuals. In this installment, noted New Orleans conductor Dominic St. Clair becomes the target of threats prior to an anniversary performance honoring the city's resilience following Hurricane Katrina, which left the city battered and besieged.

The threat, delivered through a handwritten funeral march secretly placed within his residence while he was there, and reinforced by a bullet shattered through a window of his imposing St. Charles mansion. Conductor Dominic suspects the perpetrator to be another conductor who believes that Dominic appropriated credit for a performance held after Katrina several decades ago, seeking retribution.

The gunshot prompts him to seek assistance and protective services from “The Guardians,” an organization providing specialized security for distinguished persons.

Author Declan Rhodes offers an immersive perspective on the concert preparations, capturing the rhythm of the city and the tension of an imminent threat against Conductor Dominic. Rhodes vividly depicts the auditory and sensory environment of New Orleans—its culinary traditions, musical culture, and contextual details of history and ballistics—complemented by a compelling narrative that explores relationships and an unfolding romance within the framework of his thriller.

Luca Moreau, Dominic's dependable and devoted personal assistant, is perceptive to the subtle cues developing around his employer, expressing concern for their safety and that of those nearby. Luca, a character of considerable depth, is portrayed with meticulous care, embodying the anxiety of being close to a target, and remains cautious of Thiago Reyers, a former Army Ranger known for meticulous client protection. Luca’s ability to interpret behaviors as warning signs of danger is a key element in unraveling the mystery.

This intricately layered story vividly immerses the reader in the lively yet tense atmosphere of New Orleans. It explores the growing romance between Thiago and Luca as they try to protect Dominic. The suspense centers on the true motives behind the threats, woven with musical allegories and expansive networks of friends and family. The romantic relationship develops on a foundation of trust and shared concern.

Although there is a prevailing belief about the origin of the threat, questions remain regarding the timing and method of attack, with the annual event seen as a potentially vengeful act fueled by longstanding grudges. As revelations emerge, love blossoms among Dominic’s protectors. Tragically, lives are impacted, but hope prevails for a future happiness shared by Dominic’s two guardians.

This engaging novel functions simultaneously as a travelogue of New Orleans, a tribute to the resilience in the wake of Katrina, and a celebration of the city's unique music and cuisine. The richly detailed narrative covers the threat, its resolution, and the growing bonds between Thiago and Luca.

I greatly appreciate Declan Rhodes's writing. He often helps reinforce character development through descriptive actions or expressions by minor characters, providing hints that keep the reader engaged and connected to the story without needing to search for the first mention of that character. Likewise, Mr. Rhodes does not reveal the entire mystery at once. Instead, it unfolds alongside characters who deeply develop one another. These relationships strengthen those connections as the book approaches its climax and resolution.

Please note that several characters from the initial Guardian’s book appear in this volume. While that prior work provides context for the Guardians' methods—marked by keen observation and personal bravery - it is not essential to read it beforehand; however, reading it beforehand will significantly enhance the reading experience.

Dominic St. Clair is a music conductor in the last part of his life. He knows he's made mistakes in his past, but when someone sends a warning shot through the window of his salon while he's in the middle of practicing, he knows they mean business, and he knows why they did it.

Thiago Reyes thinks his new assignment will be just like all his other protection assignments. Move in, protect the target and go back to New York until his next assignment. He never gets too emotionally involved with his charges or the people around him. However, he doesn't factor in a strong attraction to his target's personal assistant, or an old man set in his ways who refuses to follow orders and do what's necessary to keep him safe.

Luca Moreau loves his job as Dominic St. Clair's personal assistant. He loves his boss like family too, but he knows something is missing. So when the bodyguard sent from the The Guardians security company is dark and gorgeous, if a little uptight, he has to decide if he wants to pursue the man or ignore the attraction all together. After all, he doesn't even know if the man is gay.

When the sniper shot is fired through the window of Dominic's salon during practice, he knows it's the beginning of something dangerous. Someone has him in his sights, so he does what's necessary to protect himself and those in his household, even if he has no intention of changing anything about his life in the process. Thiago figures out pretty quickly that Dominic does what he wants, when he wants and doesn't take orders well. It takes both himself and the man's personal assistant who can read a room like a book to begin to truly understand what is going on and who has it out for Dominic. While they work together, Thiago and Luca discover an attraction neither of them can ignore, but each knows their focus must be on Dominic and keeping him safe, so until the danger is past, only stolen moments can happen. Will they be able to keep Dominic safe, or will the killer get to him first?

I absolutely LOVED this second book in The Guardians series! The found family aspect was one of my favorite parts, as was the slow burn romance between Thiago and Luca. The secondary characters are all well developed, and really add to the story. The suspense kept me on the edge of my seat from page one. If you love romantic suspense novels and mm romance, you do not want to miss the second installment of this series.Oh, and each book is a story in and of itself so you don't have to read them in order which means you can pick and choose as you like. I love that, and I know I'll be picking up book 3 as soon as it arrives!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

A powerful New Orleans conductor receives a handwritten funeral march warning that someone from his past wants him dead. Dominic St. Clair hires protection, bringing former Army Ranger Thiago into his music‑filled home — and into constant friction with Luca, Dominic’s fiercely loyal assistant. As threats escalate into break‑ins and near‑attacks, Thiago and Luca are forced into close proximity, uncovering a decades‑old grudge while fighting an inconvenient attraction. Everything builds toward Dominic’s final concert, where the attacker plans a public reckoning, and Thiago and Luca must trust each other if they hope to save him — and risk choosing a future together.

I loved this story. The pull between Luca and Thiago is undeniable from the moment they’re forced into each other’s orbit, and that simmering tension threads beautifully through the entire story. Their connection feels raw and real, shaped by two very different lives but drawn together by the same fierce need to protect Dominic as danger closes in. The suspense is wonderfully handled, each new threat tightening the atmosphere and guiding me toward the truth behind the plot without ever giving too much away. The emotional stakes are just as high as the physical ones — grief, loyalty, fear, longing, and hope all collide in ways that feel deeply human and skillfully written. What stood out most was how their growing bond is woven into the unfolding mystery rather than overshadowing it. The tenderness between them, the guarded vulnerability, and the slow shift from distrust to something much deeper made their relationship feel fully earned. I loved how eccentric Dominic was and yet he was very capable of love and affection for those important to him. A gripping blend of tension, emotion, and connection that kept me invested in both the danger and the love story at its heart. This was an MM story with mature content.

'Counterpoint' (The Guardians, book 2) written by Declan Rhodes (Kindle)

This storyline has everything I appreciate in a book:
1. Convoluted, well-written mysterious plot.

2. Intriguing characters: some likable, some...not so much.

3. Fascinating situation with no clear motive, at least at the beginning. It's fun to try to figure out the villian, (is there more than one?) and when you do, try to figure out who is abetting them and when and how these obviously meticulously planned attacks will happen again!

4. Slow, steamy sexual attraction and tension between two of the main characters, both of whom are gay and both are being cautious for various reasons.

5. An elder character, a vetted musician and conductor-maestro, who has been "targeted", but no one has figured out why or how...yet.

I loved the way the storyline unwinds in increments, like a savory stew, biding it's time on the back burner, waiting for additional spices, added one at a time, until it's time has come to shine in a pop of color and taste and action. Excellent cooking!

Oh yeah, and reading all this delicious-sounding food was making my mouth water! I've spent a few times in New Orleans and the atmosphere, the mix of people, the music, and the food are something unique to that city and not found anywhere else (to my knowledge). It's genuinely amazing!

Declan Rhodes is one of my favorite authors because of his attention to detail, meticulously building the plot, with the side attraction of a steamy gay romance.
He does this without the need, like some authors, to fling countless, meaningless repetitive sex scenes at the reader to distract from lack of an interesting plot.

I have enjoyed this book and this series so much and am (not so patiently) waiting for more!

Two thumbs up! 👍👍

Declan Rhodes is one of my go-to authors, you can never go wrong with one of his books. This second book in his new Guardians series features Thiago, a member of the Guardians Protection Service, in New Orleans in response to a possible threat to the life of Dominic, a well-known symphony conductor. Dominic will be leading a concert to celebrate an event from 2006 after Katrina, and it is thought there is a connection between a gunshot through a window and the concert. Luca runs Dominic’s household and is an extremely observant man, aside from having a vast knowledge of most areas of Dominic’s life. As threats escalate, it becomes more obvious that the threat is probably from one or more people close to Dominic in his professional capacity. As Thiago and Luca work together, with input from Dominic, two other members of Thiago’s team, and peripheral characters, they close in with a plan to thwart whatever may be coming—at least they hope that is how it will work.

As an unexpected “complication(?)”, Thiago and Luca are attracted to each other, but Thiago’s go-bag is always packed, ready to go at the end of the assignment, so whether there will be much beyond a casual relationship between them remains to be seen. Very mild spicy scenes for them.

This book has intrigue, a mystery to solve, festering old resentments, betrayals by trusted members of Dominic’s circle, interesting and engaging characters, and great world-building for culture of New Orleans and behind the scenes at events like the concert. Lots of action and chances for the reader to make predictions and watch for clues. It definitely kept me engaged, read it in one sitting. As with Declan’s other books, I can definitely recommend this one as a great read.

I received an ARC from the author and this is my voluntary review.

COUNTERPOINT - DECLAN RHODES

This is book 2 in The Guardian’s series, and takes place in New Orleans. Romantic suspense written in true Declan Rhodes fashion.

Luca has worked for Dominic St Clair for years, and is always a quiet observer of everything that goes on. He is shocked the night someone sends a warning shot into the house, and when he meets Thiago he is intrigued by the way he silently takes every situation in.

Thiago isn’t sure what to make of Dominic or Luca, but finds the way they are handling the home invasion interesting. Dominic doesn’t believe someone could want him dead, and Luca wants to figure out who would want to kill the man who gave him a job and a purpose.

Thiago starts out with understanding the small clues left behind by the invader, and learning to adjust to a slower pace in this new environment while finding a way to keep everyone in the house safe until he can figure out what the plot really is.

Luca has his own way of dealing with the changes in their daily life by trying to keep things as normal as usual while watching for anything out of the ordinary and sharing those moments with Thiago. Once they build a timeline, and figure out the probability of when things will happen, they start narrowing down the list of potential candidates.

There are wonderful and quirky side characters brought in, including Thiago’s boss Eamon who we have seen in several previous stories. A lot of suspense with the drama and a slow burn romance that is exactly what our MC’s need in their lives but were not expecting. It is everything you expect from Declan Rhodes and so much more. Definitely a must read author every time.

I really enjoyed this story. It was written a bit differently than the rest of the series and the one before. This one focused less on the romance, and more on the plot.

The story revolves around Dominic, an aging musician who finds himself in the crosshairs of a sophisticated revenge plot. We are first introduced to Luca and his lemon trees, head of the household for Dominic, and a man who is intrinsically intertwined with Dominic, his associates and New Orleans. When a gunshot disrupts their calm evening, the Guardians Protection Service is called in to investigate and protect, which is where we are introduced to Thiago. Thiago is a quiet, introspective man, who looks to see everything in a room, and usually sees more. There was no insta love scene, just small steps toward each other. Not really with any direction, just a measure that the two characters belonged together, so that is what happened. Throughout the story we get pulled into the nuances of New Orleans, we get immersed in "When the Saints Go Marching In" a funeral march, and we fall in love with each character as they come. Declan is amazing at immersing the reader in the story with his incredibly written details. It's almost like you are there in the story. The mystery and intrigue unwrap as Luca and Thiago work together to not only protect Dominic, but also to solve the interworking's of the threat all the while falling in love.

Although I felt this story line focused a little less on the love story, I still really enjoyed it. Declan has landed a spot on the top of my must read no matter what list and I look forward to the next adventure!

I have read a number of Declan books on hockey in Thunder Bay and a small east coast town where the arena is the centre of attention. There was also a first responders series and at least one of the Guardians comes from the series. Counterpoint is written as I would expect a procedural would be written - almost staccato as pieces are put together. That is a tribute to this author's versatility.

The story starts early with a bullet being lodged in the ceiling of the orchestra conductor's home. Celeste, one of the main characters quickly arranges for the Guardian's to come in and they take some unusual clues to discover there is a plot to at least interrupt a performance of the Saints on the anniversary of the return to New Orleans of musicians following Katrina. Thiago is the first to arrive. Luca is the Conductor's live in personal assistant and the two of them truly coordinate while Eammon arrives later and brings New Orleans police into the final stages of protection.

The M/M Romance starts early on between Luca and Thiago, so much so that the conductor, Luca's parents, and others see it but it is not dealt with so as to take over the protection. That happens after Thiago is in the Hospital and everyone is safe.

I started reading M/M Romance because I got to reading mystery where the main characters were gay. This book took me back to procedurals where the principal participants were gay.

I had an ARC copy of the book from BookSirens and always try to give my honest opinion as that assists readers and the author.

THRILLING, MYSTERIOUS AND BEAUTIFUL!💕

🎶👑📿🥥

Counterpoint
“is a musical technique combining two or more independent melodic lines simultaneously to create harmony,

It also refers to a contrasting or complementing element, theme, or item in literature or art, serving as a "foil" to another”
~Google

⚜️🎉🎭🎺🍾🎷

The second book of The Guardians series showcases a new character that was introduced in the prologue book-Plainclothes- Santiago Reyes- aka Thiago , an ex army ranger who is in New Orleans on holiday when Eamon Price asks his assistance to protect a music conductor - Dominick St Clair who’s life was threatened and this is where he meets his counterpoint in his lonely nomadic life- Straightforward, sassy Luca Moreau who runs the St Clair household with sharp eyes and an iron fist!

Luca is more observant than Thiago and sees things from a totally different angle by reading people and situations and when they flow together like two different Melodie’s on the same line at the same time, they become each other’s counterpoint to create a beautiful harmony!

Thiago always has his go- bag packed and ready to go after an assignment, will this one be different?…

Who wants to end Dominick’s life and why, will they succeed?…

An engaging, powerful read with wonderful, enthralling main characters with charming side characters in The Creole City That Care Forgot with excellent creole cuisine, scenic places of historical significance and a plot twist that will keep the pages turning!

I voluntarily received an ARC from the author for an honest non biased review.

A 72 year old beloved conductor is rehearsing for his final concert when something disturbs his rituals. No one sent him a note with cut out letters but the threat is just as real, and he is afraid. So is his housemate, PA and major domo Luca Moreau. After seven years looking after Dominic St Claire, he knows his house as well as he knows his boss and there is something sinister happening.
A phone call to Guardians in Seattle sends former Army Ranger Thiago Reyes to St Clair to deal with the threats and whoever is sending them. Working closely with Luca, Thiago soon realises that he brings insight to the investigation that Thiago would never gain on his own, a counterpoint.
Counterpoint is book 2 of the Guardians series of Romantic Suspense. The writing is superb as always but the magnificence of New Orleans breathes a significantly different life to the story. You can taste the pralines in the air and see the splendid courtyards. HI drama without a lot of debilitating angst. But it is especially the people of that city that decorate the romance with a happy ending. Guardians is also a spinoff of his First In Line series. Although Counterpoint of all of the releases has less crossover characters than the other books, I would recommend starting with Book 1, First Watch. Bravo Declan, this one is many, many stars.

This was a gripping blend of romantic suspense and character-driven storytelling that kept me hooked from start to finish. The premise alone is intriguing, but it’s the slow unravelling of Dominic’s past and the way it collides with the present, that really gives the story its edge.

Thiago and Luca make for a compelling pair. Thiago’s calm, controlled nature contrasts nicely with Luca’s sharp instincts and emotional investment in Dominic’s life. Their dynamic has a natural tension to it, especially as they’re forced to work closely together under pressure. The chemistry is there from the start, but it never overshadows the central mystery, which I really appreciated.

The pacing works well, with the threats escalating in a way that feels deliberate and layered rather than rushed. Each new development adds another piece to the puzzle, and it was genuinely satisfying trying to connect the dots alongside the characters.

I also loved the setting, there’s a strong sense of place throughout, with the musical backdrop and the atmosphere of New Orleans adding richness to the story. It all builds towards a tense and fitting conclusion. HIghly recommend

Counterpoint is the second book in the Guardians series by Declan Rhodes. In this book Rhodes takes us away from the west coast and brings us to New Orleans. The location of the book is essential to the story and the vivid imagery Declan Rhodes uses in his writing makes you feel as if you were standing in the middle of The Big Easy.
When an attempt is made on the life of famous conductor, Dominic St. Clair, the Guardians send Thiago Reyes in to provide the protection Dominic does not want but he needs. While Thiago is an expert at reading a scene, he finds Dominic’s personal assistant, Luca Moreau, is the expert at reading people. While Luca and Thiago work together to keep Dominic safe, they see something in each other they were missing.
This is an enjoyable read. I loved how the mystery moved along in the story with the developing relationship. It was smooth and unfolded in a step-by-step rhythm; much like the ever-present music in the story.
Declan Rhodes always provides an amazing eye for detail and description in his books but this was by far the best. The music and cultural identity of New Orleans are as much of a character as any of the humans written in the story. I am very much looking forward to the next book the series.

This is the second book in The Guardians series. Each book is a standalone read that features a different couple. This is the story of Luca Moreau and Thiago Reyes. Luca is the personal assistant to seventy-two-year-old conductor Dominic St. Clair. Luca is sharp-witted, loyal and considered family. He is highly observant and intelligent. Thiago is a former army ranger who is in New Orleans on vacation. When death threats are made against Dominic, Thiago is taken off vacation and put to work. He is also very intelligent and smart enough to utilize Luca to help him protect Dominic. He also believes in physically verifying something before he fully accepts it. Luca and Thiago form together to help determine who wants to hurt Dominic. This is their story. The book is very well written and easy to read. I enjoyed watching the mystery grow. The book is very well written and easy to read. I really enjoyed this book.

I love Declan Rhodes, I absolutely adore all the books I’ve read by him, and this one isn’t an exception. It’s terrifying though, not due to scary or gory scenes, but the psychological fear is so much there. Luca’s stalker is so attuned to everything he does, to who he is, he knows him intimately, and that’s terrifying, because the things the stalker knows, are also known by others, so who can Luca trust? Thiago is there to help him, protect him, it how can they trust each other when their time together is limited and trusting the wrong person is what brought a stalker into Luca’s life. It’s a beautiful portrayal of life, people coming together, and how to continue living and thriving after trauma. Yes, the stalker is taken care of in the end, but the damage that they caused still lingers, and now, everyone has to learn to live with it. And it’s beautiful to see. I highly recommend this and pretty much any book by Declan Rhodes.

I reallly enjoy the author's suspense stories. You are pulled into a mystery which throws twists and turns to keep you on your toes as neither suspects nor motives are very clear. It is a slowly evolving what is the reason behind the events.

The story is intervened with the 20th anniversary of hurricane Katrina and shows a vivid picture of a New Orleans that is still battling with memories. I love how Declan Rhodes descibes the town, not just the sights but the feelings, the nuances of what it means to its residents.

You have again one main character with baggage, Thiago is still coming to terms with events in his army days and a housekeeper/PA of his principal who sees so much wasn't in the plan.

Luka is protective to his employer but also fascinated by Thiago, attraction soon moves into feelings.

I found the amount of characters andd potential suspects a bit much, especially when some just appeared on paper and not as part of the story in person.

Stepping into New Orleans, you are drawn into a mystery and a race against time to save the life of Dominic St Clair, a famous conductor who is about to do his final concert. Needing protection, a close friend hires The Guardians security and Thiago Reyers is tasked to keep him safe.
Thiago and Luca Moreau, Dominic's PA work close together, each seeing things from a different point of view, but both are important to try and save a life.
With every scene, you are subjected to the sights and sounds of New Orleans, the descriptive writing had me feeling as if I was there, hearing the music, coming out of every bar, smelling the spices in the dishes served and by the end of the book I was hungry as the food sounded amazing.
Following Thiago and Luca put the pieces together, seeing their attraction grow. Learning about their backgrounds.
I am really enjoying this series and cannot wait to continue

With each book, I continue to be so impressed how this author makes me believe each new book is the best one. I love this series, the Guardians, and book two is simply perfection. It is like reading an old Southern gothic novel of romance and mystery. Dominic is a well know conductor who life is being threatened and as such his personal assistant, Luca, and Thiago, one of the guardians, are on it to protect him. Both are suspicious of the other despite massive attraction between the two. As they are forced to work together to protect Dom, feeling develop dispute their trust issues. Expect tons of intrigue, roller coaster moments, and professional lines being challenged, but you get a wonderful HEA. I am so excited for book three for like all of this authors books I read them in one sitting then reread them over and over. Once is never enough.

Providing protection for someone who really doesn't want it while falling for the one already protecting the client in his own way. Dominic unwittingly stepped into a situation twenty years ago that was engineered by someone else. Now he is remembered for the event and will be conducting a concert to commemorate the event, provided he survives. Thiago from Guardians Security is called in after a warning shot is fired at Dominic's house. Luca, Dominic's household manager, meets him as he arrives. These two soon find themselves working together to protect Dominic from whoever and whatever is to come even if Dominic doesn't want them to. Along the way Dominic's protectors become more than colleagues. There's a lot of intrigue as they find the threat is not just external but internal as well.

A subtle story, well written, set in New Orleans, with much care taken to develop the characters and their problems stemming from Katrina.
The city is not daunted and memories are treasured. Music and summer heat forms the centrepiece of a threat aimed at Dominic, the conductor leading the orchestra at the Orpheum on the 20th anniversary of the storm.
A quiet agent, Thiago, is sent from New York by the Guardians to deal with a threat at Dominic’s home. The attraction between him and Dominic’s household assistant Lucas is handled with restraint, giving “slow burn” a nuance I appreciated. Mostly.
Rhodes gives everyhing such detailed texture, whether it’s feelings, building designs, clothing or cooking. I like his style and thoroughly enjoyed this story.

I will start out that I have read all of Rhodes’s novel and this is my very favorite. It has everything one would expect in a Rhodes MM novel: spiciness, intrigue, opposites attracting, psychology, philosophy, & a HEA. However, this novel adds intrigue, suspense, and mystery. There is a puzzle to be solved by the Guardians and specifically by one of them. It contains characters with very strong and at times opposing opinions. For one, bitterness overcomes logic; and for another, logic reigns. NOLA comes to life in a special way and you will remember why as it is revealed here. I can’t omit a famous bar. And what about Saints? Enjoy!

Counterpoint takes us to New Orleans, where Thiago Reyes is taking some time away from his job with the Guardians. He is hired to provide security and protection to the conductor. Thiago realizes that Luca Moreau, Dominic's assistant is a valuable asset to have around while trying to figure out who wants to kill Dominic and how. Romance brews between Thiago and Luca as they work together to protect Dominic. Reading the book makes me want to go back to New Orleans to capture the spirit and the food of the city again.

Book two in The Guardians series is an engaging read. Rhodes attention to details as well as a good mystery always intrigues me. This one kept me on the edge of my seat from the start. I love that it's not always obvious who the willain might be and there are always some surprises waiting to be discovered. A very interesting read that I enjoyed. I love the slow burn romance between Luca and Thiago. Both are complex and careful people who guards their hearts.
This story is intriguing and absolutely worth your time.

Thank you for the book; here is my honest opinion:
4.5⭐️This was excellent! The New Orleans setting was wonderfully brought to like and the plot has plenty of interesting and suspicious characters. The author created a setting filled with charm, suspense, and loads of atmosphere. I really liked how well matched Luca and Thiago were, both very measured and purposeful in the actions. It was pretty cute how they both loved the other’s competence. The mystery as to who is threatening Luca’s employer, Dominic was very well executed, it definitely kept me turning the page.

A strong addition to a very good series. The setting in New Orleans was very well portrayed, as were the musical elements. Dominic was a particularly interesting character, eccentric but sometimes surprisingly caring. Luca works for him and is key to trying to help Thiago figure out in time who is threatening Dominic, and while they are working together, the tension between them grows stronger. I found the mystery part easy to figure out beforehand, but the suspense was still very enjoyable.

This is an interesting mystery! First, if you appreciate the culture of New Orleans, you’ll love this. The city is almost like another character in the book. There is a lot of straightforward writing in this…which I appreciate. But sometimes feels clipped. Luca and Thiago develop their romance as the mystery unfolds, but it doesn’t dominate the story. I didn’t read the first installment of The Guardian’s , but never felt lost. My first Declan Rhodes book and it’s a good read.ARC via booksprout.

Intensely hot! Dominic, a 72 year old conductor, is being threatened by his past. He hires The Guardians to keep him safe as he continues his final concert tour. Luca, is Dominic's protective personal assistant. He considers Dom as family. Thiago, is the body guard who has seen some things during his career and is intrigued by Luca. Together, they stand guard, protect Dom, put themselves and look at each other as more than just business. Totally hot story that you'll want to read over and over. Nicely done! I received an ARC and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Another great book by Declan Rhodes.
The same security and protection company, a new agent and a new client .
Former Army Ranger Thiago Reyes knows all about danger and thinks he's ready for anything but Luca, personal assistant of Dominic, the new client. Luca is everything Thiago has been avoiding since ever.
Their chemistry is immediate—and inconvenient because Dominic's live is in danger and threats escalates.
Love this book

Thiago is a security professional hired to prevent Luca's boss from being hurt. Along the way they get pretty cozy but don't let it interfere with the job. It's a complex plot that's a mystery with two men who excel at observation, deduction and knowledge of people. These two men also care about each other leading to several steamy moments. It's an excellent ending to a puzzling mystery. I received a copy of this and this is my voluntary opinion.
