Witty short stanzas that children and adults can both enjoy. The colourful and detailed illustrations support and enhance the text, and encourage re-reading. Quirky in the best sort of way, with a newborn being described as a squid and then an asteroid. Humour and a message are gently combined. If you’re an uncle, a must-have gift to read to your new niece or nephew, and absolute first-rate fun to be had as an ‘uncle-nanny’ and do the fun things Unk does with young baby Reese. Oh yeah, there’s still the “drool and diapers!” I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

In a market saturated with information on parenting, this unique and jovial picture book shares the inaugural adventure of one man, in his newfound, and incredibly important, role of becoming an uncle. The vivid illustrations coupled with heartfelt humor will surely ease the stress of any new uncle duties despite an inevitable learning curve. This book is an absolute must-have for the FUNCLE in your life! The clever word choice and rhyme flow so naturally that it’s a joy to read aloud. This book had both kids and adults laughing along the way. Uncle Unk perfectly captures the excitement, nerves, and playful chaos that come with becoming an uncle for the first time. It’s sweet, funny, and heartfelt all at once. If you’re looking for a gift for a soon-to-be or brand-new uncle, this book absolutely nails it! I can't wait for future Uncle Unk books to hit the shelves!
