Another Amazing story…

Karmen you’ve done it again and i can’t wait for more stories from the other characters.

The Way He Left Us was about healing, family, building, forgiveness and most of all love. I love Mya and Mila with their partners even more in this book. Karmen handles everything with such care, compassion and kindness. When moments got thick she wasn’t afraid to go there while also showing what having support looks and feels like. The mental health and therapy moments were done so well that you actually connect more with these characters. It’s almost like they’re apart of your family too. I love how God is still alive in their hearts and home. Let’s not forget how tasteful the spice was between these husbands and their wives. A perfect example of having it all even through a storm.

I really enjoyed Mila and Mya’s relationship and the closeness they share, not just with each other but with their family and friends as well. The quiet family moments stood out and made the story feel warm and grounded. I also appreciated the inclusion of mental health, therapy, and faith as consistent themes throughout the book.

At times, some emotional transitions felt quicker than I personally expected, but the heart of the story is clear. This is ultimately a book about forgiveness, rebuilding family, and leaning on faith through painful seasons.

Overall, while there were elements I questioned, I still found it to be a heartfelt and meaningful read. I’m looking forward to seeing how the Choi family’s story continues in Book 4.

Ja’Mya and Ja’Mila Choi’s story continues in The Way He Left Us, the third book in Karmen Scott’s The Way series.

If you’ve read the first two books (and I absolutely recommend that you do), you already know how inseparable these sisters are. Their bond is tight. Their Men are just as close. I love the way the men in this series pour into their wives, pray over them, and protect their hearts.
.
They hold their faith in high regard so it is woven throughout the book but not in an over the top way just showing how much they cherish and respect it.
And it’s a good thing, because when the sisters meet someone they never knew existed, their entire world shifts.
Secrets surface and betrayals unravel. The kind of truths that test loyalty, forces forgiveness and make you question everything you thought you knew.

Both sisters struggle to process the truth while trying to protect their bond
Their hearts are torn between loyalty, pain, and the fear of losing the closeness they’ve always cherished. On top of that, they’re forced to confront their mother someone they deeply love about secrets she kept from them.
This book had me fully in my feelings. I cried more than once.
I also appreciated how mental health and therapy were included and I love seeing that stigma continue to be broken down.
And yes, chapter 28 in the Sacred Lovers’ space?
Whew.
This is officially my favorite book in the series so far.

ARC Review ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Way He Left Us – Karmen Scott

Yeah… this was my favorite in the series. Period.

This one leans into sisterhood, secrets, and the ripple effects of a father who left. When new truths surface almost 30 years later, Ja’Mya and Ja’Mila’s unshakable bond gets tested in ways they never saw coming.

And whew… I felt all the emotions. Joy. Frustration. Heartache. Hope. I’m not even going to lie, I shed a few thug tears reading this.

I loved how faith was woven in naturally, not preachy, just honest. It’s emotional, layered, and hits in places you didn’t realize were still tender.

If you’ve ever had to unpack family wounds while trying to protect the people you love most? This one will speak to you.
