This book guides the reader through perhaps the single most important philosophical work of the twentieth century - Wittgenstein's Philosophical Investigations . The author presents Wittgenstein's Investigations in a radically new light using short sections to clarify the main arguments, including the famous Private Language Argument. This is accomplished through the author's extremely clear and accessible writing style, bringing a new clarity to a reputedly difficult work. The author demonstrates the continuing importance of Wittgenstein's ideas to contemporary debates in cognitive linguistics and psychology.
I don't know. I have to read this a few more times to really feel good about it. I only feel solid on the private language argument, which was fascinating. But maybe this isn't the time in my life to read it...someone always needs a bath or a snack or a Kleenex and the bus is always at the stop and the PowerPoint files are waiting. I feel like that's backwards somehow--that I should have read this first. To think there were summers I spent bored; it's maddening.
