Laurie is a woman with a penchant for displaying impatience and judgment. She does not like to be bothered, particularly when she is in a hurry, which is a most unfortunate thing. One morning on her way to an important appointment, Laurie is confronted by a homeless woman who wants a small amount of money and respect.
Instead of respect, Laurie tells the woman that she is a lost soul, feeding off the back of humanity.
What Laurie doesn't know is that this particular homeless woman is not simply an unfortunate, down on her luck member of society.
She is a powerful, ancient God, as old as time itself. A God who has been escorting mankind to the Land of the Dead for an eternity. Soon, Laurie finds herself lost in this timeless, corrupt land.

Four friends against the world. Even though it's out of this world. Although this is a horror novel, I really like the character development throughout the book. As each character grows and matures, they develop a more solid, trusting, loving, and positive relationship with the other characters. They develop a united strength. Boone is a very special person. For most of his life, he was bullied by others for being different. Until he realizes that he has a very keen talent for finding lost things, even those lost in the most obscure of places. It is this talent that leads Boone and his friends to a strange world where the dead walk and have no rest. Boone and his friends have some scarey adventures in this world, in their quest to find one of their lost friends. I really enjoyed reading this book, and look forward to reading more about Boone and his friends' adventures.
Charles Welch has officially clenched a favorite author spot on my list. This book is creative, interesting and inventive. Laurie, starts is on an adventure when her heart is closed to a beggar woman. She ends up walking into another place where she meets the absolutely cool Dandie. Meanwhile, Boone, a most endearing character, finds he had a new skill..he finds things. Sly, Boone’s best friend, and Piper, Laurie’s you get sister, set out to find the missing Laurie. This adventure was a page turning great book. Boone and Dandie are 2 of my favorite characters that have stolen my heart. There are ups and downs, weird and weirder, and most of all a solid foundation for more adventures. I received an advanced copy of this book for my honest review. You won’t regret picking up this gem!
