Summary: Duncan and Bex are finally getting married. They've hired a wedding planner, called in family and BFFs, all while adjusting to their new titles as lairds. Duncan is looking for a new groundskeeper, Bex has started her own accountancy business, and Highland Hall gets prepped for the event of the season.
👩🏾 Heroine: Rebecca "Bex" Barker
👨🏾 Hero: Duncan MacDuffrey
🎭 Other Characters *Fergus-Duncan's grandfather he inherited his title from *Amanda-wedding planner *Roddy-Duncan's BFF and employee *Fiona "Fi"- studying to become Bex apprentice, dating Roddy *Daisy and Claire-Bex's BFFs *Ruby, Rosie, and Kenna-their pets
🤔 My Thoughts/Likes: This was a cute wedding setup where just about everything went wrong. I understood Duncan and Bex struggle to stay grounded as their lives were elevated. Amanda was an antagonistic planner who went against Bex's ideal wedding. The disagreement between Roddy, Duncan, and Bex along with Bex's father was the pinnacle that got them to their HEA.
Rating: 4.5/5 ✨ Spice level: 1/5🌶️
🙏🏾Thanks to NetGalley, Boldwood Books, and Hannah Lynn for this ARC! I voluntarily give my honest review, and all opinions are my own.
Bex and Duncan, the new Laird, are settling in to their new home at Highland Hall following his unexpected inheritance, however things aren't going smoothly. Duncan is busy with his new responsibilities with the estate whilst Bex is trying to combine working at her new successful accountancy firm with her new responsibilities as the Lady of the Manor. Add in a wedding planner trying to arrange a wedding suitable for a Laird and his new wife and there is plenty of stress going around. This is book 4 of the series, I read the first two but somehow managed to miss the third one. As usual it isn't essential to read the earlier books in the series, but you do miss some of the back stories. I really enjoy reading a series, especially one like this which is a spin-off from another series, in this case Wildflower Lock, where you have the joy of meeting characters from the previous books whilst keeping things fresh. It does give an idea of the struggle of becoming suddenly rich with all the associated responsibilities associated with a title, or at least if you take these responsibly as Duncan and Bex do. There are some lighter moments as well to lift the mood, plus the support of friends and locals in this small community. Definitely recommended. I received an advance copy of this book from the publisher through Netgalley, however this did not influence my review of the book.
Time to return to Highland Hall and hopefully a wedding to outdo all weddings, it feels like catching up with old friends, and Tartan and Tuxedos at Highland Hall might just be my favourite visit yet! From the first chapter, I was taken back to charming Loch Darroch, with its idyllic location and characters who feel like long lost family this story is a proper 'hug in a mug'. Bex and Duncan’s wedding should be the happiest time of their lives, but with family expectations, Highland traditions, a demanding wedding planner who feels the need to email multiple times a day and all the pressures that come with Duncan’s new role as laird, it’s clear that planning the perfect day is anything but simple. Trying to get a quiet moment together to discuss anything - even having a cup of tea together is near on impossible. I loved watching them navigate the chaos together, including the chaos of the furry kind. Bex is trying to build her accountancy business while juggling wedding plans, and remain a valued member of the village whilst getting used to the fact she will soon be the Lady of Highland Hall. Will she be able to plan a wedding to remember or will everything go disastrously wrong? An amazing ending to a great story.
This is a terrific book! The characters are wonderful and well-developed. The locale is spectacular, and the story is wonderful! I'm so sorry the series appears to be over, but I hope the author continues the series. I strongly recommend all four books in this series.
Amazon synopsis: All she wants is to invite the townsfolk of Loch Darroch to Highland Hall to celebrate - with plenty of drinks, dancing and merriment.
But Duncan isn’t just Duncan anymore – he’s the laird. And apparently that means hosting the ‘event of the season’, at a luxurious venue with a guestlist filled with people neither of them have ever met.
With a condescending (and frankly, scary) wedding planner to deal with, starting her new accountancy business and trying to train her wildly disobedient puppy, Bex can’t help wondering if she’s bitten off more than she can chew.
Will the chaos of the Highland life prove too much? Or will she make it down the aisle, and find her happy ever after?
It was a pleasure to return to Highland Hall and the lovely Bex and Duncan. Duncan is now the Laird and his time is taken up with all that is entailed in running the estate and making the necessary repairs to the castle. Bex has started her own business whilst trying to support Duncan as the Laird. Add planning a high society wedding into the mix, the local gala, assorted clubs and life has become stressful placing demands on their time. Will they ever get any time to themselves?
A warm and delightful tale of love in the Scottish highlands with a host of colourful characters in the picturesque setting of Loch Darroch. Definitely recommend this fun and light-hearted story but read the previous instalments as they're a treat. With thanks to Netgalley and Boldwood Books for a copy of this book in exchange for a review.
This is the first book I have read from the author and I soon realised it was part of a series. I was enjoying the book so much by then I didn't want to stop reading and go back and look for the others. The author has used a great mix of humour, every day life and romance and the setting sounds magical! I thoroughly enjoyed the story with the exception of the accusations made at the end as I could see who the guilty party was and it was disappointing to see so many innocent people accused. I will now go back and read the previous books in the series and others from this author. She has been added to my "must read" list and I'd highly recommend this book to others.
Thank you to NetGalley, the publishers and author for allowing me to read and review a preview copy.
I loved catching up with Bex and Duncan and the gang. This story leads on from Duncan becoming Laird of the village after the death of Fergus. They are trying to get to terms with living in the castle and having the village depend on them. This does not come naturally to either of them. They are wedding planning and the wedding planner is reminding them of their social standing and their place in the aristocracy and this is causing them nightmares. At the same time Bex is setting up her accountancy business and that is putting stress on them both. This book shows the strains of the job. This was a great book and it was full of friendships and togetherness. Thank you NetGalley for this arc in exchange of an honest review.
The finale at Highland Hall I’ve enjoyed every minute of this series and have loved that Bex and Duncan finally got their happily ever after. Mind you, there were a few bumps in the road getting them to that point but in true Highland Hall style everything ended beautifully. From a naughty little puppy who gets into everything, to so much work and not enough time in the day for themselves, accusations made, then apologies given made this a really lovely story to end off the series. Tying up loose ends and helping the villagers along the way. Add in a little bit of drama and some delightful characters and this story was extra special. Thank you Hannah Lynn, NetGalley and Boldwood Books for the opportunity to read this story.
Although book 4 in a series, it sucked my in with the humor. Bex and Duncan are set to get married but they can't seem to spend 2 seconds together as both seem to be running in 5 million different directions, between building repairs, starting a new business from the ground up, getting accustomed to new to them roles, and a wedding planner who has decided the wedding is going to be the event of the year. Will they get married, or will it all come crashing down around them? Of course, lots of hilarity ensues. Definitely an enjoyable read. Not my first Hannah Lynn book, but hopefully not my last. I received an ARC copy from NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions are my own.
Im exhausted after reading that book with the list that Bex had to go through as she adjusts to marrying Duncan but this book made my heart soar and I loved being back at Highland Hall.
As with all of this series things are never plain sailing for these characters and there were so many laugh out loud moments with the addition of the new puppy.
I hope there is another instalment from Highland Hall as im not ready to say goodbye yet. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Another absolutely brilliant read by Hannah Lynn. I love this series it just gets better each book.
I loved the next chapter of Bex and Duncans story. I love all the characters in this series and how each story builds on the last.
Bex and Duncan are trying to navigate their new life as Lord and Lady whilst organising a wedding and the many many expectations with thier new titles. So much love and community in this story.
This is my first Hannah lynn book and wow I love the writing style!!
It’s a warm, feel-good conclusion to the Highland Hall series that blends romance, humour and the charm of small-town Scottish life. Set against the backdrop of wedding preparations, the story follows Bex and Duncan as they try to plan the celebration they actually want while navigating the expectations that come with Duncan’s new role as laird.
Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for the opportunity to read an advance copy of this book.
3.5 stars I really, really disliked Bex in this one, and that brings down my rating. She was so self-involved, which was so unlike her in the previous books. I could always see what was coming next due to her actions, even if she couldn't. It didn't make sense to me that someone who is so organized and detail-oriented would let everything in her life go to pieces. And when she unfairly accuses someone of something that was so unfounded, I was done with her. I did like the ending though.
Another fabulous instalment in this series back in the beautiful village, with the familiar characters we have grown to love.
The romance and warmth are in abundance in this book but are also wrapped with the realities of the real world of balancing everything, dealing with stress and never seeming to have enough minutes in the day.
A lovely balanced romance, I love that we find out about what hidden treasures are laying undiscovered in parts of the castle that have lay untouched for years.
Still plenty of stories to be told within the village and this book has left me excited to read more.
Another fantastic trip to the Scottish Highlands which I really enjoyed. Make sure you’ve read the previous books in the series as they do follow directly on from one another. It’s a gentle bit of escapism with very relatable characters..
