I have three Stay in control. Keep my distance. Never need anyone. Luca Wolf breaks all of them.
He walks into my hotel with that smile, the one he gives everyone, like they're the only person in the room. He acts like my rules are suggestions. He's chaos wrapped in charm, and I've hated him since day one. So why can't I stop watching him?
I learned early that people leave. My father taught me that at five years old. So I built walls. I kept everyone out. It was safer that way. But Luca doesn't care about my walls. He pushes, he teases, he gets under my skin until I can't tell if I want to fight him or kiss him. What I don't know is that Luca has his own rules. He never stays. New city, new hotel, fresh start. Always moving before anyone gets too close.
Until the late nights blur into stolen kisses. Until the fighting turns into something that terrifies us both. Then I find out he's been hiding something. A transfer notice he's known about for months.
One man who pushes people away to avoid being left. One man who never stays to avoid getting attached.
Some enemies are easier to hate from a distance.
The Midnight Truce is Book 2 in The Grandview Series but can be read as a standalone. This MM romance features enemies to lovers, workplace romance, grumpy/sunshine, forced proximity, slow burn, and a guaranteed HEA.
Taylor Knox writes emotionally rich MM romance about the men who risk everything—on the job and in love. Set in the world of firefighters, EMTs, and those who love them, her stories blend high-stakes action with slow-burning chemistry, deep vulnerability, and the kind of found family that heals old wounds.
She’s fascinated by the contrast between strength and softness, tradition and transformation—and her characters always face more than just fire. Whether it’s a rookie trying to prove himself or a battle-hardened captain learning to open his heart again, Taylor’s romances deliver intensity, tenderness, and hard-earned happy endings.
When she’s not writing about men falling in love against the odds, she’s drinking too much coffee, falling for fictional crushes, and pretending her search history is all for “research.”
This is the second tale in a 'Hotel' series, I had read the first and enjoyed it, this one even more so. We meet two men, one world traveled and openly gay, the other a mid 30's virgin, hiding his true self. This is a wonderful story, it has it's dramas, it's mixture of characters and it's sweet moments that make it such a lovely read. Mind you, it does leave a couple of thing unfinished so it seems another book is coming.
