"Insights on Acts" explores the expansion of the early church throughout the Roman world in the continuing 15-volume Swindoll's Living Insights New Testament Commentary series. This never-before-released volume draws on Gold Medallion Award-winner Chuck Swindoll's 50 years of experience with studying and preaching God's Word. His deep insight, signature easygoing style, and humor bring a warmth and practical accessibility not often found in commentaries. Each volume combines verse-by-verse commentary, charts, maps, photos, key terms, and background articles with practical application. The newly updated volumes now include parallel presentations of the NLT and NASB before each section. This series is a must-have for pastors, teachers, and anyone else who is seeking a deeply practical resource for exploring God's Word.
Charles Swindoll has devoted over four decades to two passions: an unwavering commitment to the practical communication and application of God's Word, and an untiring devotion to seeing lives transformed by God's grace. Chuck graduated magna cum laude from Dallas Theological Seminary and has since been honored with four doctorates. For his teaching on Insight for Living, he has received the Program of the Year award and the Hall of Fame award from the National Religious Broadcasters as well as multiple book awards.
Putting this review out because of how helpful these commentaries have been for me. If you want deep historical and linguistic context, but in a more modern and easy to read way, Swindoll’s commentaries are great.
Swindoll provides historical context for the events in the book of Acts as well as providing an application section, giving readers "how to" guidance for turning what they've learned into actions and behavior changes. Those unfamiliar with the customs and history of the time will find this especially helpful.
Absolutely recommend this commentary. It gives so much historical background that you can’t help but insert yourself into the story. It makes you realize the importance of evangelism in the life of the believer.
Chuck Swindoll’s commentaries are the best around. I have read all the gospels and just finished Acts. I am about to begin Romans. Each one is so helpful in understanding the scriptures and applying it to your life. Love them all!
