What if isolating yourself was the only way to survive?
And what if the one person who could break through your silence didn’t believe in love at all―except her own version of it?
Vivaan follows five strict rules―not for discipline, not for success―but to survive. Diabetic, withdrawn, and haunted by a shadow he refuses to become, Vivaan hides behind a carefully constructed mask of normalcy. His plan is simple: blend in, let no one in, and feel absolutely nothing.
Andrea isn’t gentle, isn’t soft. She’s rugged, sharp, and terrifyingly fearless. The girl everyone fears to touch but secretly longs for. She doesn’t fall for sweet words or fragile promises. To her, love isn’t the stuff of fairy tales―it’s a belief so rare she thinks only true lovers would understand it. She waits for that kind of love. Demands it. But she doesn't realize―Vivaan might already understand it more than anyone else ever could.
Together, they are two storms circling each other. One hiding fear behind silence, the other hiding pain behind fire. Vivaan doesn't want to be known. Andrea doesn't believe anyone deserves to know her. But when their lives tangle, the question changes.
Can two people who’ve locked their hearts away be the key to each other’s salvation? Or will they destroy each other trying to find what they’re too afraid to ask for?
Turn the first page―because their story isn’t about falling in love.
The story follows Vivaan and Andrea, two very different people carrying their own fears and pain, and how unexpectedly a connection builds between them, even though they never planned to let anyone in.
Vivaan is quiet, withdrawn, and emotionally guarded, trying his best to survive by following rules. Andrea, on the other hand, is bold, fearless, and unapologetically herself. She doesn’t believe in fairy-tale love and waits only for something real. Their personalities contrast beautifully, making their interactions interesting and intense. Their romance is slow and subtle. I liked how author focuses on internal struggles ,healing and understanding.I did feel that certain actions by side characters lacked proper closure.
Overall, if you enjoy slow-burn romance with emotional depth and flawed characters then this book is for you.
A Fate Unwritten is a thoughtful and emotionally rich novel that explores destiny, choice, and the quiet battles we fight within ourselves. Ibunu Suhudhu crafts a story that feels both intimate and universal, guiding the reader through a character’s journey of self-discovery, resilience, and the courage to rewrite one’s path—even when the world insists it’s already been decided.
The heart of this novel lies in its protagonist, whose life is shaped by hardship and expectation. Suhudhu’s writing captures the struggles of someone torn between societal pressures and personal dreams with sensitivity and depth. The internal conflicts are compelling, creating a character who feels genuine, flawed, and deeply human. Readers who enjoy character-driven stories will find themselves quickly invested.
The author’s prose is clear and immersive, balancing reflective passages with vivid, emotional moments. Themes of identity, destiny, and personal agency are woven naturally into the narrative, offering both tension and philosophical insight without feeling heavy-handed. There is a sense of quiet poetry in the way Suhudhu describes the world—simple scenes become symbolic, and small choices carry enormous meaning.
What truly stands out is the book’s message: that fate is not a fixed script. We each hold the pen to our own story, even when life tries to take it from us. It’s an empowering idea delivered through a narrative that feels authentic and heartfelt.
A Fate Unwritten is perfect for readers who enjoy reflective fiction, coming-of-age journeys, or stories that challenge the boundaries between destiny and self-determination. It lingers in the mind long after the final page, inviting readers to reflect on their own unwritten possibilities.
I finished A Fate Unwritten, and honestly, I didn’t expect it to hit me the way it did. It’s not a loud or dramatic book, it’s more of a slow-build kind of story that sneaks up on you without you even noticing.
The characters felt real in that imperfect, slightly chaotic way people actually are. They’re confused, they’re stubborn, they’re trying… and that made their journey feel believable. Some parts made me stop for a second just to sit with what was happening, which I didn’t see coming at all.
It’s one of those books that doesn’t tell you what to feel but somehow leaves you thinking anyway.
A Fate Unwritten is an emotionally intense, character-driven story that leans heavily into inner battles and personal healing. It’s the kind of book that doesn’t rush to entertain, it asks you to sit with the characters, understand them, and feel what they feel.
Vivaan is a deeply layered character. His struggle with high diabetes, anger issues, and emotional regulation is portrayed with a lot of realism. The mental checklists he creates, the rules he lives by, and the way he talks to himself reveal how desperately he’s trying to stay in control of his life. His diary entries, especially, add depth and vulnerability, making his pain feel honest rather than dramatic.
Andrea brings a much-needed balance to the narrative. She’s sassy, confident, and undeniably strong, a true badass with her own dark past. What I loved most about her was how grounded she felt. She doesn’t let her past define her entirely, and her presence adds strength, warmth, and sharpness to the story. Whenever she appeared, the emotional tone shifted in a refreshing way.
Yes, the book takes its time. The focus on inner turmoil and emotional processing can make the story feel stretched in places, but it also allows the characters to be fully explored rather than skimmed over. The author clearly prioritizes emotional depth over fast pacing, and for readers who enjoy psychological exploration, that works in the book’s favor.
Overall, A Fate Unwritten is a meaningful read, dark at times, but sincere and thoughtfully written. It’s about flawed people, survival, and learning how to live with one’s own mind. If you enjoy emotionally rich stories that focus on healing, complexity, and character growth, this book is worth your time.
Imagine you find out you were being lied to by the ones you believed all your life? And, how it feels like to break all the rules you’ve built your past five years under. And all that comes out because of the girl who altered your entire personality. You find reverse Grumpy X Sunshine , where the MMC completely surrenders himself to the FMC (has to be my favourite part of the book) Towards the end of the book, you feel as if you hadn’t even understood the character right. And that, is the highlight. The book makes you feel confused and oddly uncomfortable but when you actually think about the life choices of people in the book, you understand so much better.
I removed a star because, the chapters seemed quite difficult to understand and interpret. But I’d definitely suggest to give it a go.
This book book focuses on the tension between two people who could not be more opposite than each other, the story of how they try to fool their hearts , yet somewhere along the lines how they eventually end up back with each other is fascinating.
Pain , acceptance, yearning, denial, this author's book leaves an impression on the mind of those who read this book, the journey that the characters , Andrea and Vivaan face is nothing short of emotional.
