Homework Algebra emphasizes the role that arithmetic plays in the development of algebra and covers all of the topics in a typical Algebra I class, • Solving linear equalities and inequalities • Solving systems of linear equations • Factoring polynomials • Graphing functions • Working with rational functions • Solving quadratic equations • Understanding word problems Homework Algebra will help build a solid mathematical foundation and enable students to gain the confidence they need to study Algebra II. This book also contains a summary of important formulas for easy reference. This new title in the Homework Helpers series will help build a solid mathematical foundation and enable students to gain the confidence they need to continue their education in mathematics. Particular attention is placed on topics that students traditionally struggle with the most. The final chapter in the book covers word problems in detail, and several problem-solving strategies are discussed. While these books could be used to supplement standard algebra textbooks, they could also be used to refresh your arithmetic and problem-solving skills. The topics are explained in everyday language before the examples are worked. The problems are solved clearly and systematically, with step-by-step instructions provided. Problem-solving skills and good habits, such as checking your answers after every problem, are emphasized. There are practice problems throughout each book, and the answers to all of the practice problems are provided.
A good book on Algebra that covers the foundations. I like the way that it gradually builds up a concept and it gives you a lot of examples and practice problems to solve along the way.
I absolutely love the simplicity, ease, fun, and straight-forwardness of the Homework Helper series, and the Algebra edition by Denise Szecsei is no exception. If you're having any problem at all with learning algebra, or any other basic course subject, such as English language & composition, essay writing, biology, and chemistry, physics, these are the books you should turn to first. They are a great supplement to any over-complicated textbook normally provided with the course. They are perfect for college-bound students, as well as young kids too. Children can easily grasp the simple concepts in the well-organized way they are laid out in all the chapters. It has helped me a great deal in my algebra studies, and essay writing, and so I just cannot give it enough praise! In those courses I made great grades!! Many thanks and accolades to the authors!
This book is a good review of basic algebra. It horrifies me to think that someone might use this to actually learn algebra. It was a concise, which was nice for me, since I just wanted a quick review. The examples and practice problems were all very simplistic and had little variation, so it would be hard to use this book as a tool to master algebra (or even as a tool to survive algebra). All the problems were really the easiest possible senarios. There were even a couple of typos on the practice problem answers, which could lead to some very confused algebra students. The negative sign really matters, people!
