Gregor Wyatt was the neighbour from hell – rude, inconsiderate and a bully to boot – and there’s no shortage of people glad to see the back of him. Perhaps as a result, nobody seems to recall seeing anyone enter or leave his home on the afternoon he died – not even the woman who takes the concept of ‘neighbourhood watch’ to the extreme.

Gregor’s family won’t be mourning his passing, either. His sister had all but cut contact with him after their mother died in suspicious circumstances, leaving Gregor the family home. A home she now stands to inherit.

A search of that home turns up thousands of pounds in cash, while the contents of Gregor’s phone reveal an unlikely connection – and evidence of a very different crime. Was Gregor killed because he demanded money to guarantee his silence?

Or did someone simply decide to put an end to his reign of intimidation once and for all?

This is the next book due to be released in this series. I thoroughly enjoyed it. We learn about the private lives of the police and background cast without it taking over the whole story. Rebecca who is a detective is engaged to Leighton who is a forensic pathologist. This book carried on where the last one finished. Rebecca had been attacked and Leighton was the prime suspect. Rebecca knew it couldn’t have been him but a few of their colleagues thought it could have been. Leighton decides to take a sabbatical and with just 24 hours notice he disappears to Sheffield to cover maternity leave. Almost simultaneously they have to deal with a similar death. A body in London and one in Sheffield. The story of both these deaths is told by flitting from one location to the other. Loved how the story flowed. I’m already waiting for the next instalment.

Following on from events from the previous book, Rebecca is back at work in London while Leighton has taken a job in Sheffield. Rebecca and Lawrence and the team investigate when the body of a man is discovered. There's no shortage of people who disliked the man but trying to find the killer is no easy matter.

I really enjoyed this. I loved the two different stories in London and Sheffield and enjoyed how both ended up resolved. There's a sense of finality in a personal relationship which did make me sad but also intrigued as to what will happen next. Roll on book twelve.

This is part of the London Series, book 11.

Rebecca and Leighton (Detective and Forensic Scientist) are engaged but are having problems since the previous book. Leighton has gone off to Sheffield where he was born, to work for a few months and Rebecca has stayed in London. A crime happens in each area and they are similar.

In particular, the death in London, the victim has many enemies, there are secrets and interesting nosy neighbours to keep you interested to the end.

Looking forward to the next book.

You do not have to have read her previous book to enjoy this on. Certain things are mentioned but it does not affect the joy of reading. Brings to light how humanity has good and bad points. A nice paced read.

As ever the pace is just right and keeps you wanting to turn the page. Lots of loose ends so waiting avidly for book 12
