Chapter 8: The Complete Series

Grace Street
Return to Grace Street

Revised Edition.

Possession. Obsession. Resilience. Insanity.

A need for absolute control and a past filled with lies and neglect have led FBI profiler Victor Laurenzo down a ruthless path. On a quest to satiate his sadistic desires, he submits unknowing victims to cold, calculated scenarios meant to push limits while testing the confines of immorality—all under the guise of studying his chapters for the betterment of law enforcement.

On the mend from a bad break-up and longing for attention, Elsa consents to an odd proposition. Initially unaware of Victor’s plans, she quickly realizes that the casual encounter she agreed to is, in fact, a cruel psychological game with no ending in sight. She may be one in a long line of test subjects for Victor; however, she can't be broken so easily. What he puts her through only fuels the fire burning within her—a flame that begins to blaze out of control as she becomes obsessed with everything about Victor and peeling back his cruel layers in search of the real man hiding beneath his heartless facade. Stronger and far more resilient than any of Victor's previous chapters, she is determined to make her own rules and flip the table on his selfish game to show him that beyond his darkness, there lies light.

Playing an erotic and twisted psychological game in which there are no winners and only chapters in a depraved case file, these two headstrong characters are no match for an unexpected bond that rises above the darkness, bends the rules of conventional romance, compromises principles, and forgives the unforgivable.

Though Victor and Elsa's story may not contain hearts and flowers, it is still one of soul-searching passion and reckless love.

Warning: this is neither a conventional romance nor a traditional love story. This is not a fairy tale love story nor is it a BDSM romance. There are no hearts and flowers on the pages of this book. The heroine doesn't always make wise choices and though I've tried to make her strong, she's often times weak in the face of the fierce hero. The hero is not a knight in shining armor. He's broken and frequently cruel, and what every woman in the real world should avoid. This is a story about facing the darkness within. The man written within the pages of this book is obsessive, possessive and broken, and he gets off on mind fucking his lovers. He's an anti-hero with an abusive past who often times pushes too hard in his quest to win his own sick game.

What's contained within this book is fiction—dark, depraved and decadent make-believe. Contains erotic elements, uncomfortable situations, and descriptions that may trigger past memories of abuse. Intended for readers 18+

Contains bonus material including deleted scenes, alternate ending, and epilogue.

4 very damaged stars!

Yet again, Ella Dominguez has created a broken, twisted, yet beautiful story filled with mystery, BDSM and love that isn't easy.

Victor & Elsa are both very disturbed/broken and together they agree to a 'game' that will leave them questioning themselves, one another and everything they thought they knew or wanted.

Victor is dark and living in a past filled with abuse, neglect and lies. he has convinced himself he is a bad man undeserving of love or affection.
The 'game' he presents Elsa is dark yet erotic, troubled yet eye opening. He brings out her darkness and she shows him her light. He teaches her pleasure from pain- shows her courage through humiliation and along the way she learns who she truly is.

description

In the end, this was a mentally frustrating story. I felt turned upside down at times. I couldn't decide if I wanted more of Mr Black or Victor. I felt guilty for needing more of the painful lessons of Mr Black yet wanting the softer side of Victor to win out.
I was HOT for the punishments by Mr Black, feeding my BDSM sadistic side with Elsa's humiliation!
description

Victor is the self righteous, dominating, alpha male personified...He was stunningly dark yet beautiful, even at his worst.
In the end, I was pleading with my Kindle that Victor found the good in himself and accepted that his painful past did not make him a bad man.

Author kindly gave me a copy of this book for BDSM group R2R!

I did enjoy this read, and so wanted to give this 5 stars. To be honest it's more a 4.5 rather than a 4, just not quite 5. The first half..Grace street is a definite 5 stars. I loved it. I loved the chemistry, the mind fuck, the mystery, I loved it all, and was so glad I bought the complete collection and didn't have to wait.
I loved how they met...he victor, spots Elsa being chatted up in a bar, and chooses her as his next Chapter..Chapter 8. There's no ambiguity, he says it straight up, he wants her for sex and nothing else, no romance, dates etc, just straight sex. She's just got out of a bad relationship with Patrick, so agrees to victors proposal thinking its just what she needed at that time in her life.
At first it's all a game to both. Both are independent and very intelligent. He does count on her independence and strong will. She nosey, inquisitive, and tenacious. He's done background checks on her and has her monitored...he's an FBI crime profiler, she soon works out his tactics. I loved the cat and mouse game that went on with these two characters.
It was a definate roller coaster of emotions, but I just found it a bit tedious towards the end, I just found myself thinking, oh come on, when are they ever going to get something worked out long term.
I did think the ending was fitting, and I'm glad the author gave us the opportunity of seeing the alternative ending, but I like the one that she eventually chose. Yes it's a hfn, but it's better than the alternative. The other would have been too harsh, and I'm a dark reader. I think victor deserved a bit of a break and so did Elsa after all that they had gone through, we had to have a little bit if hope, or what was the purpose of it all?. Off me it dropped half a star, just because I found myself at theat point of when , oh when is it going to end...not for any other reason, and maybe I was impatient and un just in dropping half a star...not sure. But I would read it again, and I loved it.
Great plot, lovely story line. Not too dark and twisted and it was fun

WOW! Mix Dr. Jekyl/Mr. Hyde, Silence of the Lambs, and a sadistic twist of an alpha male FBI agent trying to "help" others help themselves....and you've got an awesome read by Ella Dominguez!

This was a very well written duet of novels that drew me in from page 1 with the sadistic ways of Victor Lorenzo (Mr. Black); so damaged by his bloodline, his upbringing, and by entrusting his heart to the wrong person that he's set out on a mission to seduce others into "fixing" themselves...all the while feeding his own cruel cravings. He doesn't believe in love and happy endings...life has proven him right so far.

Through his work on a current case, Victor develops a twisted relationship with a convicted serial killer to get into the psyche of a copycat killer emulating the same morbid methods. (I was totally channeling Hannibal Lecter for this character.)

Victor studies each of his volunteers(?) to determine what triggers their behaviors and justifies his diabolical actions as being for the greater good of them individually and for his case. He documents the subjects in his journals...each person a "chapter" (not a name). Each chapter is a disappointment in the resolve of the human spirit ... until he meets Chapter 8.

Elsa is a sultry red headed breath of fresh air, who flees Boston to Richmond, VA in search of rebirth far away from the scene of her failed relationships. She begins to thrive in the smaller town and it gives her hope that she can be fulfilled.

A chance (or maybe not so chance) meeting leads the tortured twosome down a path of no return...each trying to save the other from their own pasts, but can they save themselves from each other?

This story has so many great elements of hot sex, suspense, hot sex, sadism, hot sex, and psycho-killers, redemption....and more hot sex! You should probably read it right away. :)

It's been a while since I've read something dark and hot and BDSMy. Chapter 8 was exactly what I needed! Loved the internal conflict and the sexy stuff and the game. Loved the strength of the heroine, even the strength of her weakness, if that makes any sense at all. Some parts made me cringe, some parts made me teary-eyed, some parts made me all hot and needy, some parts made me want to curl up in Victor's arms and feel worshiped. Loved everything about this story!

I have been thoroughly mindf*cked by Ella Dominguez. I finally got around to reading the Chapter 8 series last week and even after a couple of days post-read, my mind is in limbo land. My emotions are still a wreck. I want more Grace Street!

When I first “met” Elsa, she was suffering from depression. The effects of a poor break-up lingered, keeping her detached from men. I thought Elsa was mousy and too compliant but she quickly proved me wrong with her smart mouth, honesty, and sass. She is cunning. She is kind. Her strength surpassed any other heroine I’ve read about. Through her past and pain, I see her light; her generous heart, her patience, her acceptance, and her unselfish love…for one man.

Who is Mr. Black? Who is Victor Laurenzo? He is the most complicated man I have ever read, so TWISTED and so beautifully flawed. Dominating, Meticulous. Calculating. Mysterious. Infuriating. A dangerous predator with a haunted past.

As soon as their game begins in Grace Street, Victor debases Elsa. Like a pet project for his pastime, he studies her. He confuses her. He uses her. He makes love to her, he cares for her. He binds himself to her. Their “physical association” lit my kindle on fire. H.O.T.

When we Return to Grace Street, their pasts are disclosed and I couldn’t read fast enough. My initial thoughts of “How can these two characters maintain the pretense of a masochistic game and keep me engaged?” quickly escalated to “Holy W.T.F., what happens next?!!!” Their heartbreaking, yet beautiful story consumed my heart and soul.
I am on the verge of another re-read. And the playlist! I’ve never paid so much attention to an author’s playlist before in my life! Every song, every single verse, every beat is for my Victor and Elsa.

There'll be no rest for the wicked
There's no song for the choir
There's no hope for the weary
If you let them win without a fight
If one heart can mend another
Only then can we begin
So won't you hold on a little longer
Don't let them get away
Lykke Li - No Rest For The Wicked

Thank you, Ms. Ella Dominguez, for writing such a brilliantly, beautiful series!

In my opinion, this is how a dark erotic novel should be written. Where there is darkness, there is also light. Elsa has entered into a sexual agreement with the sexy, yet mysterious, and possibly dangerous, Mr. Black. Even with his extreme moments of domination, Elsa is a woman who sees the good in the man. Granted, it's buried way down deep, but the spark of something good is there. And yet, Mr. Black is convinced he's a bad seed, dark to his core, based on his past and bloodlines and that there's no escaping it. You could slowly see the changes Elsa brought out in Mr. Black and you can see the break down of Mr. Black into Vincent. I loved the subtle nuances of his personality growth. I thought the characters were multi-faceted and extremely well written. I loved this book. There were moments where I felt like I was right in the room with the characters. I was thoroughly absorbed in the story and the relationship between Elsa and Victor.

It is hard to write one dark erotic romance extremely well, but then to follow it up with another that is as outstanding as the first? Very difficult. To be able to bring to life two characters who are fundamentally "broken" and watch as the pieces mold and meld back together takes true talent. I fell in love with Victor and Elsa from book 1. I became so engaged and attached to these characters I couldn't stop turning the pages of Return to Grace Street to see where the road took them. This was such an emotional book, not only for the characters, but for me as a reader. Anger. Disgust. Rage, even. Frustration. Love. But most of all, hope. Hope that Elsa and Victor could overcome all the bad sh*t and come to some type of HEA. Or at least a satisfying resolution that two people as screwed up as these two could have. And I was not disappointed. As with Grace Street, I've added RTGS to my list of favorites of 2014 and to my top 25 favorite books ever read. I highly recommend it!

This was a novel I became so invested in that I found myself talking to the heroine, telling her"Don't do it Elsa, you'll be punished". It messed with my head and my heart. Talk about two sides of a coin....whew....that was Victor/Mr. Black. Let's just say I had a love / loathe relationship with him. He would do something so horrendous (that I would NEVER put up with in real life) to make me detest him but in the the next moment make me want Elsa to forgive him. And of course all the tension lead to some explosive sex. Public sex, rough sex, no holes barred sex (literally & figuratively) and maybe some tender sex here and there. He wanted to dominate Elsa in every way. In his mind he was helping her to become strong and not to believe in love. Her "punishments" for disobedience were varied from cruel to outrageous. Of course Elsa wants to know what made him this way but she's not allowed to ask him questions; she pushes the issue anyway no matter what the punishment may be. She believes there is hope for Victor while he believes the cruelties of life and his DNA have created his Mr. Black persona. In the end my heart was breaking for the both of them.
There are so many layers to these characters, especially Victor/Mr. Black and it kept me invested in the story. It was one of those "I can't believe I'm reading this" moments for me but I couldn't look away!

This is one of the most powerful love stories I have ever read. This is not easy love, this is not wrapped in ribbons and bows, this is a story of hard won love. Elsa and Victor put each other through hell and back, and at time you will feel there is no hope for these two. I have to admit that Victor aka Mr. Black is one of my all time favorite characters, he is dark, sexy and compelling, he stole my heart. And Elsa is one of the strongest heroines I have ever read about. I was not bored one minute through out both of these books, they are well written and paced to perfection.

A page-turning read that I couldn't put down. Engrossing, if in places harrowing, as the 'game' that Victor and Elsa 'play' follows a dark and destructive path. The author captures the intensity of their struggle with each other, and with their own responses and inner turmoil, to provide a story that deals well with difficult subject matter.

This is a difficult book to rate..it's a complex story that is dark, twisted and at times riveting. A story full of secrets, lies, betrayal and a "game" that is totally bizarre. All in all a decent read.

So... yeah wow... I’m reading this book and find myself reading parts to my Bf and hey was like “ummm...ok.” It probably sounded so messed up the parts I read to him too. But it was so completely f*up that it was AMAZING! Especially book two. Talk about loving conquering all. SWOON! I know Ella you probably didn’t mean this to be a romance book but maybe that is where great(messed up) minds think alike. It is definitely DEFINITELY DEFINITELY a DARK EROTICA, but it is HEA romance too!!! This books make u hope that there is truly a sole mate for everyone out there no matter what.
Oh, let’s not forget HOLY TWISTED HOTNESS!!
This book is not for faint of heart or for everyone but if give it a chance I promise you will LOVE IT!!!
Thanks Ella for another amazing boom series truly a fan of your work!

Book 1 Grace Street

Elsa is a lonely, needy woman who has been hurt by men in the past. She's just changed location with her job, her ex is in her old office. She just hasn't found someone who loves & cares about her. She has some dark sexual secrets that she is afraid to share with anyone. In many ways she's broken.

Victor is a sad & wounded man. Mr. Black is a very sick F&$K!! He's come up with a "Game" that puts him in control of each Chapter, what he calls the person he's chosen to "help". He is a nosey, self righteous, controlling, arrogant, narcissist. I'm still not sure just what it is he thinks that his Chapters need from him. I mean we all have a little something that needs to be changed, delved into & looked at. Why he thinks he has anything to offer someone else is beyond me. Just when I think I care, he does something else that pisses me off. I'm almost at the end of Book 1, it may be difficult to continue reading on to Book 2. Wow Ella Dominguez has really got me feeling, I love it! :-)

Book 2 Return to Grace Street

This is a Dark/Twisted Love Story. It says in the blurb this isn't about romance. Isn't that the basis of all love affairs? I mean come on, true love & happily ever after, & throw in obsession, all come from a lot of freaking work. And don't forget this is a Dark Story. The fact that he couldn't let her go is different for him. She let him back in pretty easily also. He just never expects her to "play his game" quite as well as he does!! LOL Tenacious women kick butt & take names!! For me? Bottom line is they have a form of D/s relationship. It's dark, twisted, full of games & mind f&$cks, oh & great sex.

It went back & forth whether i liked this story or not. In the end I did. I'm glad I kept reading, there were times when I didn't want to. Isn't that what a great story is supposed to do?? Kept me on my toes. Thank you Ms. Dominguez!! :-)

Enjoy!!

The Journey that was Victor and Elsa left me drained, but hopeful for their future. When I first began the journey with these two, I was angry, anxious and mostly out of breath. In the second part of their journey, my emotions ran the gamut. From jaw-dropping, to anger, to sadness, to hopeful, back to anger, then tears and more tears, and then MORE breath-holding.

My feelings were all over the place with these two. I will say one though, if you called Elsa weak, I'd have to say you're wrong on all counts. I think took the strength of an elephant to have put up with the shit Victor doled out. I mean a weaker person would not have given two f**ks about Victor's success or failure in life. I think that that's is the purest form of unconditional love there is. Or maybe...

At any rate, Grace Street and Return to Grace Street are going in my best read books collection. I would do you well to read them, too. Ella's covers are always a treat and this one is up there. And she can make you fall in love with characters, even though logic dictates you should hate them. Great job once again. Ms. Ella Dominguez. A MUST READ!!!

I really liked this book.
Finally I find a dark romance where the heroine FREELY agrees (instead of being kidnapped and/or forced) to submit to a dominant antihero. The love story is very complex, particularly because the male character it is completely broken and messes up several times. However, it was very interesting to follow the dichotomy of Victor/Mr. Black and the psychological, twisted minds games involved between him and his "Chapters" (specially Elsa = Chapter 8).

I recommend buying this particular version, because it includes both books, but especially because it contains an epilogue and an alternate ending. Also, my heartfelt congratulations to the writer, because she create a female character who agrees to be a submissive without becoming a doormat of the male character. Bravo!

I'm just so in awed with this story. A journey to the dark side is a book I won't forget. The story of Victor aka Mr. Black and Elsa to be known as Ms White. Shows that the heart is strong and when you truly love someone it can conquer all. I was so invested in the story that it had to end in the light. My heart went out to Victor and I was glad Elsa was the type of person she was. Throughout the book I experience so many emotions by the end I had tears in my eyes. Must read both books. My mind is still going through the scenes.

This must be my ultimate book! I am truly at loss for words to even explain this story. I really don't know what to do from now on. This book must of been so challenging to write, Ella? Your mind is truly an amazing thing. To even come up with these characters and this story? I think I'm going to not start another book for a couple of days to let this story sink in and to come to terms with finishing these books. You're truly an amazing writer. Wow is all I can say about this. I've never felt such intense goose bumps as I've felt with these books. Wow!

This book is a dark love story. Though I have not personally had such a physically tormented relationship I did feel a bond with Elsa. I have had relationships that I knew were so wrong and wanted to be strong, walk away and never look back. But like a moth to a flame it was never that simple. This story is one of my favorites! I love the depth of the characters. All the emotion. This story draws you in from the very beginning. I long for more if their story.

This dark and twisted series is a roller coaster ride of emotions. Victor and Elsa are two broken souls brought together by a mutual attraction and desire to play a twisted and sexual deviant mind game. The game is heightened by Victor's alter ego, Mr. Black. These three different personalities make these books a hot, steamy, roller coaster ride of love gone wrong. A must read for any fan of erotic psychological dark read!

This books has such highs and lows for the characters and how they deal with their pasts. You will go on a roller coaster ride trying to figure out what is next and if you love them or hate them.
