What Do You Dream?

Rate this book
A child dreams of flowers, flowers dream of butterflies, and butterflies dream as well in a serene, rhythmic bedtime story that circles back to a satisfying ending.

Child, tell me, of what do you dream?
I dream of a flower in a sweet green meadow.
Flower, tell me, of what do you dream?
I dream of a butterfly with petal-soft wings. . . .

Do you ever dream of a billowing cloud? Golden sun on a meadow? A tree that hugs the sky? In this simple, circular story, a little girl and her dog revisit their day outdoors as they dream their way back to a morning full of bright possibility. Vibrant paintings complement a soothing celebration of the natural world - and our natural place within it.

Just a smidgen on the dreamy side -- I know, I know -- that's what it's about. And I love it, but I have to work harder than I'd like to keep the 4 and 5 year olds in. Nevertheless, I love how it lets us ask everything around us what it dreams: "Black Panther, of what do you dream? I dream about slicing villains."

there wasn't anything exceptional standing out in this book. and when i read it the first time i was kind of scratching my head on what the book was trying to get at because it didn't seem to have any plot or direction in which it wanted to go. then i read it a second time and on the second time i was realizing that every page there was a new character added to the story and how they dreamed of another character. this book was showing how everything in the world is dependent on something else because it creates the world around us and if we are not aware of it then we are not likely to recognize it or "dream of it" i like this book and i would definitely add it to my collection for my classroom.

A young girl daydreams on a summer afternoon, which leads to a chain of plants, animals, and objects all dreaming of things themselves, eventually leading back to the girl. My favorite line is when the butterfly is asked what it dreams of, and it says, "I dream of a tree hugging sky in its branches." Nice image. The illustrations are panoramic and colorfully soft. This would make a good bedtime story.

Nice pictures (The Cover isn't that impressive... I know don't judge a book by its cover but sometimes...I just have to! The story is nice enough! Not a wonderful book but not too bad either!
