An innovative treatise on judging dressage competitions, with relevance to both the judge and the competitor. For the judge, it gives concrete thoughts and perspectives on the process of scoring a dressage test. For the competitor, it provides a new level of understanding and insight into the thoughts that go into the scores of their tests.
I won this book while attending a show some time ago and hadn't bothered to read it, yet. My horse is a youngster and we are currently focused on advancing his training, rather than on competing. I'm glad that I finally read it, though. As a competitor, I felt that it gave me a better understanding of how and why judges give certain scores and what they are looking for. As an amateur competitor, this isn't something that I've ever had much exposure to, before. While it will not make any large changes in my training program, it was very insightful and gave me some things to think about as I look towards the possibility of introducing my horse to the show circuit in the next year or two.
