The Algorithm Of Us

Rate this book
You don’t have to convince people who are committed to misunderstanding you.

When Addie Mason nearly dies from a neurological crash her body can’t warn her about, her husband Colt does what he’s always done best—he builds a solution. The result is H-Core, a revolutionary biotech implant capable of translating invisible hormonal data into life-saving insight. What begins as an act of devotion quickly becomes a cultural fault line.

Colt Mason is an apex alpha, a billionaire innovator, and a man accustomed to being feared as much as he is admired. Addie is his equal—an omega with sharp intelligence, deep emotional awareness, and an unshakable sense of autonomy. Together, they stand at the center of a storm as H-Core attracts public praise, political scrutiny, extremist backlash, and a relentless debate over consent, power, and control.

As their private medical choices become public spectacle, Addie is forced to defend her agency in a world determined to frame her as either a victim or a symbol. Colt, meanwhile, must confront the limits of protection—learning that loving fiercely doesn’t mean deciding for someone else.

This omegaverse romance is Book One in an ongoing series. Each novel can be read as a standalone, though reading in chronological order is recommended.

"The Algorithm of Us" was an incredibly intriguing and captivating read! It marked my first venture into sci-fi, introducing me to unique tropes like the billionaire/obsessed husband trope. Addie and Colt are truly endearing characters, and I was drawn to Colt's passionate and protective nature towards Addie. Addie's character resonated with me deeply because of the chronic illness awareness, which I found very relatable. I loved her character development, particularly her handling of misogynistic experiences within the healthcare system and the perceptions surrounding their relationship. I'm eagerly looking forward to diving into the second book, "The Algorithm of Them." If you're a fan of sci-fi with a fun amount of spice….🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️ you'll definitely enjoy The Algorithm of Us!!! 🤭🤭

This was a sweet, funny, spicy, relatable and culturally relevant read. I absolutely loved Colt and Addie's banter, the chronic illness representation, and the way the story flowed. I'm both a science/tech nerd and lover of the omegaverse genre, so this book was right up my alley. thank you so much to the author L. Beckett for sending me a copy. I can't wait to dive into book 2!

This was a different style of story than I'm used to reading. It's not a bad thing but it took me longer to get into the novel and to keep up with things sometimes.

The biggest thing is the two main characters, Colt and Addie, have been married for 13 years. Most, if not all, of the romances i read, start when the characters meet and we get to experience all of the first time moments. I like those first time moments to really understand who the characters are and how they overcome issues throughout that sensitive period.

Also the amount of science talk went over my head. I love that Colt is super science smart and can do great things with his company but anytime they got into that topic of conversation i lost interest.

It took me awhile to get over the third person POV, not gonna lie, but i experience got used to it. And, on a personal note, I couldn't put myself in their shoes when they talked about wanting a baby. Since I don't have or wasn't kids, I found those moments to be fine but repetitive.

Now, it sounds like I disliked this book, but i really didn't. I thought it was unique and I liked how determined the characters were to make a difference. They have so many obstacles to overcome but it didn't scare them to back down.

I'm glad i decided to read this and I'm going to get the novella just to see what happens, even though I'm sure it will be much of the same feelings I have for this book.

On a separate note i think Amber should get her own story. And Nash! Just not together lol

This book is a masterclass in emotional tension, ethical complexity, and unapologetic agency. What begins as a deeply intimate act of love one man trying to save his wife evolves into a razor-sharp exploration of consent, power, and autonomy under a public microscope. The H-Core technology feels chillingly plausible, and the way it fractures society mirrors real world debates in a way that’s smart, grounded, and never preachy.
Addie Mason is the heart of the story: brilliant, self-possessed, and unwavering in her right to define her own body and choices. Watching her refuse to be flattened into a narrative victim, symbol, cautionary tale is deeply satisfying. Colt, for all his alpha intensity and genius, is written with nuance; his journey is not about domination, but about unlearning the instinct to protect by control. Their romance is fierce, tender, and earned, crackling with chemistry while rooted in mutual respect.
Bold, emotionally intelligent, and thought-provoking, this omegaverse romance doesn’t just tell a love story it challenges the reader to sit with uncomfortable questions and trust the characters to find their own answers. A stunning start to a series that promises depth, heat, and heart.

I'm going to be extremely honest in this review, starting with the fact that I have never read an Omegaverse book and probably never would have if I hadn't seen this author at my local bookshop signing copies of her two books, The Algorithm of Us and The Algorithm of Them. I stopped to hear about the book and was really intrigued by the science portions the author was explaining to me - about the MC, Addie, who has a neurological condition and her hot, tall husband who invents the tech to save her.

I loved the author's passion, and even though steamy books aren't really my thing either, I have happened to enjoy many of them when the rest of the storyline is compelling - and this one did NOT disappoint! I loved Addie and Colt's story and the dynamics within the omegaverse and how that played out with bodily autonomy, misogyny, control, etc. I also learned a thing or two about other aspects of the Omegaverse. :) But the political ramifications of such tech was also a great storyline to ultimately tell Addie's story.

I really enjoyed this one and went straight into the 2nd book. I'd totally buy from this author again!

okay this book surprised the fck outta me!! Colt!!! he is quite the mannnnn omggggg I love a nerd😭especially a nerd that is obsessed w his woman and will be violent over her iykyk. I really enjoyed all of the science and tech talk, I’ve read a few omegaverse books and I feel like none of the other books I’ve read have really really went into depth like this one. I really enjoyed the main plot point of this book. This man built a whole product that would help him take care of his wife and it happened to help others like her in the process. The political implications were well written and frankly pretty realistic to our world today. Very well done!!

The Algorithm of Us by L. Beckett was a cute read, but there were a lot of issues I noticed while reading the book.

I enjoyed the story, it was a really cute story, don't get me wrong, but there were a lot of grammar issues that I noticed that were kind of a block to understand what was happening. All things considered, it's well written, just written weirdly.

I do greatly appreciate the story line and the representation of women's chronic illnesses, there're just a lot of issues.

I wish I could give this more than 5 stars!

This book perfectly captured what it's like to struggle with a chronic illness and have to fight to not only be taken seriously, but also fight for your bodily autonomy as a woman.
I hope someday I find my own Colt, he is the perfect book husband. He's sweet, caring, and the spice scenes??? I'm drooling.

"I was not sure it the omegaverse genre would be for me, but The Algorithm Of Us has completely changed my mind. The way L. Beckett has used the omegaverse world to further the plot is incredible, and I would 100% read another book like this in the future."

I finished this book today and I’m so glad I did!! The story was so good it kept me hooked and once I started I didn’t want to stop. The characters had depth and layers some of the topics were heavy but they were handled with the care they deserve. The banter was funny and witty. It was so much more than a romance and I loved addi and colt!! I can’t wait to start the second book

This was my first time reading an omegaverse romance, I will say I actually enjoyed it! I loved the relationship between Colt and Addie, and how protective Colt is over her but also respects her decisions on her own medical care. This book has the spice, some funny moments, as well as the seriousness of medical autonomy. I will definitely be reading more books from this series!

I absolutely adore Colt and Addie’s relationship in this! His protectiveness is wonderful, and doesn’t turn controlling at all. She isn’t afraid to go against his wishes and speak out. Love the way this highlights the difficulties women go through in getting good medical care sometimes. Excited to read the next!

This book was cute, I enjoyed it! The sarcasm and witty humor had me laughing out loud more than once. The struggle of fighting for bodily autonomy and frustration of having to prove ones value as a human was SO real, probably the part of this book that spoke to me more than anything else.

The Algorithm of Us is great for anyone who wants a cute, quick, billionaire romance read.

Colt & Addie are a fun couple, reading about their dynamic reminded me of my husband & I! TAoU also deals with mental & physical health struggles, a supportive husband, a headstrong woman, & all the banter. A good romance read with real life sprinkled in.

The cozy, spicey, political sci-fi omegaverse story we all need. Addie and Colt are such a sweet and realistic couple. Their banter made me smile. The science and politics that drive the plot forward are realistic and fascinating to read about. The story is hopeful but not ooshy-gushy. A really unique and fun read overall.
