I truly love this world that Shanon Grey created.
The Ornament Maker has something for everyone. It has good guys, bad guys, intrigue, abduction, a well-written chase scene, and of course, romance. The dialogue is believable and even when it gets technical it is easy to follow. The descriptions of all of the places in Ruthorford and Merlyn's Roost make them seem like actual places the reader wants to visit. The characters are fully developed enough to be real people.
This paperback also contains Pennyroyal Christmas. This is one of the early stories Shanon Grey wrote about Ruthorford and it holds up well even before my research found it was published almost 13 years ago. That is not only a testament to the writing of the author, but also to her ability to create a consistent and evolving world. The main characters in this story are still active participants in her current books even as they've grown and now have different roles in their community.
