The Wanderlust Tides: Wanderlust Book I

Rate this book
Isabella, the Captain of the Wanderlust Tides longs for adventure in the seas. During her journey of embarking on a cruise with her friends, she makes a decision that changes her life forever.

After stopping in Nassau, she comes across the poster of a wanted pirate, the ruthless Dominic Spade. Unbeknownst to her, he and his crew hijack Isabella’s yacht and forces them all to join him on a treasure hunt to claim the signet ring that would win him back his megayacht, the Ruthless Marauder.

Isabella fights her growing feelings for Dominic, but the more she gets to know him the more she finds he isn’t what he seems. She didn’t expect her past to come to light when she runs into an old flame, the King of Spear Grove, who has been hunting Dominic for his devious crimes.

Isabella doesn’t know which is deadlier––confronting the demons of her nightmares, falling in love with a wanted pirate, or the Leviathan that waits for them to claim the treasure at the Sea Chapel of Brazil.

I so badly wanted to love this since the synopsis was so enticing but I’m at the 37% mark and I just don’t think I can continue. I don’t think this is for me. It started out promising but as I kept going I couldn’t understand why adults in their late 20s were interacting like they were younger. I also honestly thought pirates bombarding the ship would be scarier. I was thinking it was going to be like Captain Phillips scary. I loved that movie and this was giving similar vibes but unfortunately I wasn’t feeling the characters. I’m so sad because this sounded like the perfect book for me. I just can’t connect with any of them and the plot kind of dropped off for me. I hope others enjoy it though.

“I’d fucking break you,”

“You haven’t allowed me to sleep in peace,”

“You’re the only woman I’d ever bow before, Isabella,” he whispered. With each sentence, he kissed my pussy through my thong. “I’ll protect you. I’ll cherish you. I’ll love you. I’ll respect you. I’ll please you. I’ll do anything you ask of me.”

Review✨ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ @wanderlustelena
I really enjoyed The Wanderlust Tides. It’s the kind of book that quietly pulls you in rather than rushing you, and as someone who loves a good slow burn with solid banter, this worked for me. The chemistry builds at a steady pace, and while there’s only a little spice, it fits the story well and never felt forced.

The storyline itself was good. I’ll admit I was a little confused at times but it felt intentional — there are small clues throughout the book that kept my mind turning, trying to piece everything together. Instead of taking away from the experience, it actually made me wanting to continue.

One of my favorite aspects was the setting and tone. I loved that it gave the feel of being in this century while still weaving in old folklore. It feels like it’s right on the edge of fantasy that I’m thinking will come into play in the next books.

I’m genuinely excited to read the second book. If you like slow burns, clever banter, subtle world-building, and folklore elements, this one is definitely worth picking up.

So firstly I just want to give thanks for the opportunity to read this arc 🫶🏼
Okay so I really enjoyed this book!!! The pirate story is so wonderful and I really enjoyed it, I feel like there aren’t enough stories with handsome pirates and I want more 😂 it definitely was a cosy fantasy, that had me smiling throughout.
I found the writing style a little…ropey and young, however the story still sucked me in and I genuinely found it really sweet. I loved the sea mythology aspects and I really enjoyed the ‘treasure hunt’ (oh and the 🌶️ was pretty good too 😮‍💨)
There were some good plot twists I didn’t expect and the friendships between two unlikely groups was heartwarming.
I really think the author NAILED the toxic male POV (Mason) - it gave the typical man throwing the dummy out the pram because he didn’t get his way and doesn’t want to listen, it gave me a good giggle because it was relatable to how some men can be 😂

All in all I have got to rate this book 4 stars as it was such a nice easy read, thoroughly enjoyable, and made me smile throughout.

I really enjoyed the book! Such a lovely world and the characters — beautiful. Well besides like a few of them. Fuck you Mason.
Dom on the other hand I would let manhandle me in all his pirate glory.
