I have decided to stop reading this book a couple of chapters in. There were a few glaring theological issues. The most glaring was that one character, Joseph, was going to try and earn his way into heaven by being a martyr.
That stopped it for me. Add to that, the fact that this book is pre-millenial view point, which is one that I find to be scripturally inconsistent. Jesus comes back twice in this theory. Once to rapture christians and again to judge the world. Huh?
The entire point of the "rapture" is to remove those loyal to Jesus because he is judging the world. There is no salvation beyond that point. So, that also means that christians will be going through some difficult times until Christ's return. "Pre-trib" theology is escapism at best. It is just plain inconsistent with the rest of the bible and is more in line with Arminian theology, which is rooted more in humanism than solid theology.
Sorry. Couldn't deal with the book any more. Too bad considering that the author is a good writer. These issues just made it too difficult to enjoy the story anymore.
