This was surprisingly an emotional book. Yeah, it did have the typical tropes thrown in, but I felt it had some depth to it. (Possible spoilers ahead)
Let’s get the tropes out of the way. h’s man cheats on her. She goes to a bar and meets H. They have an amazing ONS. 3 days later, she walks into her new job and H is her boss. 🤪 1 week later, h finds out H is also her brother’s BFF. H has a crazy ex (OW) who is bashing him in the media. To keep his board members happy, he “fake” dates h after offering her money. They develop feelings, and weeks into their relationship- h finds out she’s pregnant. She goes to tell him, but before she can- he rips her heart out by ending their relationship with 💩 words said to her. He fires her and ruins her reputation. A few days later, he finds out she’s pregnant. Then he “grovels” to win her back. 🤷♀️
See….its nothing you probably haven’t read before. The emotional parts come in when you get H’s backstory. You could definitely understand why he was the way he was.
H was not a playboy. He was in a previous relationship and that OW does stir up drama. Mostly, H’s biggest issue is he has commitment issues and he’s very closed-off. The spice was mild, to me. It was open door and I’d probably rate it 1.5 out of 5 (I read a lot of dark romance so my spice meter is damaged 🤪)
⛔️Major spoiler⛔️ H’s dad was abusive. It sounds like H’s dad killed mom, then committed suicide after he set their house on fire. H went out a window. He felt a lot of guilt for not trying to save his mom.
Another part that was emotional- H’s therapy. H does the right thing after the 3rd act breakup and seeks therapy. The author didn’t just brush it off, we get some details of his therapy visits and the stuff he has to work on. The therapist has him write in his journal and we do get to see what he says. I also liked how he really wanted h back but he understood that she may never forgive him….but he still knew he had to keep working on himself to be better for his baby.
Usually, I’d get annoyed if there was no grovel, but it didn’t annoy me this time. I liked how they reunited. It felt genuine. He didn’t get all caveman and just push his way back into her life. He KNEW to give her space. I also thought the epilogue was perfect and I was glad to see that he was still working on himself.
The reason I only rated this a 3 is because of all the different tropes thrown into this book. It was a LOT.

I liked the premise of the book...they had great chemistry...Daniel being self-destructive was understandable but, it did get annoying after a while...Bailey I genuinely liked as a character and I hated their 3rd act breakup...but I get where it may have seemed necessary for the plot. An MMC who genuinely does the self-work is a nice touch and I appreciated his therapy journey...there were a few plotholes that annoyed me though. If you like the pregnancy trope, fake dating, and 3rd act breakups this is a book for you. I personally felt on the fence about it because it wasn't something I would pick up again by choice but, I still liked it enough to give it a shot.

Lots of tropes, boss, brother’s best friend, one night stand in a bar, he’s broken all thrown into a story. The lack of sticking to a storyline pulled me out of the story several times.
During her pregnancy, the timelines are completely trashed. She’s 8 weeks than 12 weeks within a day, suddenly she’s 20 weeks but can cover her belly and still button jeans, she’s living with a friend in their couch, but still have her own apartment and bedroom? Despite not being able to afford maternity clothes?
Honestly, real work would have been filing a lawsuit against Cassidy for defamation, but “doing the work” here is so shallow here, it’s a joke.
If you haven't read Broken Baby Daddy yet, it is an absolute must read 10/10-star romance story. This book by Laila has Bailey and Daniel's one-night of hot passion ignite a few surprises and a secret revealed. Loved how this book was not only engaging to read, but a page turner as well. So, sit back and sip your coffee slowly because this romance book will have you forgetting everything else except this book until the very end.
This book was a great quick read. Loved the buildup between the main characters and the happy ending. Loved the use of therapy by the main male character and how it helped him become better. Didn't like how rushed it seemed at points. There were also some inconsistencies with the plot, like what day of the week it was, names of characters, and other things like that throughout the book. Overall though I did like it.
Broken Baby Daddy by Laila King Bailey and Daniel's story is a great off limits, enemies to lovers romance. Once I started reading I couldn't put it down. The two of them had my heart from the start. They are two people drawn to each other, yet knowing it’s a forbidden relationship if they get involved.

Struggled with the repetition, so much so that the word almost seemed copied and pasted in parts. I also got annoyed how much he pushed her away, but he did do the work in the end, she didn't just run back to him, although excepting a proposal after not talking for almost 4 months was a bit quick
Lacked editing and consistency. In London going to bed for an early flight- but then the next morning they are off to meetings again. Then suddenly end up back stateside. Twice MMC was referred to as Graves, his name was Daniel Williams. Maybe Graves was a knickname but it never explained that.
Cute story, but the plot felt jumpy. It moved too fast and didn’t have time to build and create the angst, it just dumped it in your lap and the wrapped it up quickly.
I liked this book for most of it, and then idk. It kinda fell off. And there were two times that the mmc was called “Graves” when his last name was Williams so I don’t know how that typo got through editing but whatever lol
What an emotional journey this book took me on, it's raw and realistic and hard to read in places . Made me cry in parts but beautifully written. Captured my heart. Worthwhile reading.
