POOR GEORGIE An Animal Shelter Novel

Rate this book
When the call came, Lucy Hickey-Rios and her staff rushed to rescue a dog that had been horribly injured. The police had found him hiding in an apartment where his owner, a young woman, had been stabbed to death. While the police investigated the crime, Lucy, the Executive Director of a private, non-profit animal shelter, and her staff, went about their business caring for the homeless and abused animals in their community. Unbeknownst to them, the killer plotted and planned. He had some unfinished business. He still had a dog to kill. Can Lucy stop him, or will she become his next victim?

5 Star Review

This is the 4th book I have read and thoroughly enjoyed by Larraine LeBron. I never tire of the lessons being taught to spay and neuter your pets, to volunteer your time to a worthy cause and to adopt an animal for life. This story reinforces those lessons while holding the reader's attention with suspense. Throw in a little romance and the result is a PERFECT READ!

Georgie

I really liked this book. I fell asleep but woke up and had to finish the story before I could do anything else . This subject is such a horrific and sad one that just makes me want to scream and shout. What a great thing to open the housing for the women and their pets !!!!

This book ,while a good read ,might be more suitable for teens.

As I said earlier the book may be more for teens ,I did like the stories about the different dogs and the information on animal shelters.

Poor georgie...no longer alone

Great read especially if you love dogs and cats. Rescue is a wonderful thing. The people who give their time are true heros. I rescued my cat or did he rescue me.

Engaging characters. These books are a cross between animal welfare stories and cozy mysteries, but I REALLY enjoy them. You will learn things you definitely should know about animal companions, animal rights, and animal shelters. Lebron knows her stuff.

What a great read

I loved this book, I didn't want it to end. I had a hard time putting it down. It made me think of our local Humane Society and how dedicated they are to saving these little lives.

Great Reading

Once I started this book I could not put it down. It was full of suspense and exciting. It also told true friendship among the different rescue groups and the help they gave one another. Which I didn't know existed. So glad that Georgia found his forever home.

I enjoyed this novel, a bit of heart and mystery to be solved. It gave a good look at the many aspects of having a pet rescue. Luckily there were good support people for the novel's manager, but that is not always the case in real life.

I enjoyed this story, but some of the paragraphs were just a jumble of characters and happenings, which were difficult to follow. I think it would have been better as part of a memoir.

This is a happy tale (tail?). Every problem has a positive solution. A dog is injured defending its owner. The dog recovers, the owner, not so much. There are women from a battered woman shelter that need help, this works out. There's a person that is a stalker, that works out without any drama.
This is more a story about the intake and adoption of pets at a shelter. Without this, the book would be one or two chapters long. The editing in this book is above average. This was a quick read.

A quick, easy read for people who LOVE dogs, cats and just about any other animal. Georgie, a sweet mixed breed dog, has had more than his share of tough breaks. This time he is grievously injured by the madman who killed his mistress, and for some perverse reason this killer is now coming after Georgie. The story evolves into a mystery which is ultimately solved by the director of the animal shelter.

Georgie Boy

This was a rather interesting novel.
Having worked as a Social worker in the field of Domestic Abuses, I know, what people are capable of. I know that people will use we your pet against you, and they will harm it to hurt you. I recommend this book as a good read but I cannot give five stars, only because it was too easily solved. Otherwise a good, easy read

AWESOME!!!!

I absolutely love animals. It's nice reading about animals. They do some of the craziest things & it's heartbreaking what some people do to an innocent creature. Especially those who can't defend themselves.
