This is a great beginner’s guide to prepress that all graphic designers should essentially learn. The author is very knowledgeable and irons out all the details, though this is one of those text books that will someday become dated since it consistently refers to certain software … Which is essential for the topic, so it makes it a little difficult to work around. I doubt the features will change too drastically, but it’s one of those books that collect dust on my shelf. Once you know the content, you know it (assuming you maintain the skills). There is little need to revisit it.

An excellent book! Reid has great insight into the prepress and printing process. Humorous and witty with useful tips and short cuts. Good resource for designers and production artists alike. Sadly, the book is going out of print soon.
