Satellizer has beaten every upperclassman Pandora who’s fought her, but the opponents keep coming. The Third Years of Genetics Academy won’t let a slight by a mere Second Year go unpunished. It doesn’t matter to them that the world is in danger―taking Satellizer down is more important.
But there’s one rival that Satellizer isn’t prepared for. Rana Linchen, a new, ambitious Pandora from Tibet, is convinced that Kazuya is her soul mate, and won’t rest until Kazuya leaves Satellizer and becomes her Limiter!
This volume was significantly better than the one containing the first two parts of the manga series, and I think that it's because less of it was focused on pin-up style art, and more of it was about developing the characters. This improvement was far from perfect, but it went deeply into the background of "the untouchable queen" character, and why she is so desperate to never lose a battle. It also went into some of the reasons why she is hesitant to have any physical contact with most people, other than in battle, and now her personality makes a lot more sense. If the series continues to develop the other central characters in the same way, that will make the story more interesting for me, at least. The Tibetan character that was added to the cast in this segment has one of those personalities that is mildly annoying, but that turns up in a lot of manga. She has a perfectly good reason to be totally obsessed with the main male character, but even so it's annoying already. Once again, though, the lack of authority figures at the Academy is pretty weird, because the feuds between the students get completely out of hand in this part of the story, and the only ones who step in are other students. If this and similar schools are what stand between humanity and oblivion, I find that difficult to believe or understand. You don't want the potential saviors of the Earth killing each other off before fighting the enemy, after all. Still, I plan to continue for at least another volume or two, and see how I feel then.
Is it possible to have too many girl-fights in a story? After this two volume set, my answer is yes! The good guys are the pandoras and the bad guys are the novas, but so far there are no novas and all the fights are between the pandoras. Worse, the fights are about silly matters, mostly pride.
Since I have 4 more double volumes, I hope this changes!
