Every victory has a cost, and destiny demands payment in full.

After making a pivotal decision, Viviana Drakul embarks on a mission that could decide the fate of kingdoms.

To combat the towering might of King Serventes and his army, she must travel to the desert kingdom of Samqara to forge a political alliance on ground more changeable than the sweeping golden dunes. Old enemies and new friends will challenge her wits and endurance, but the court’s secrets are nothing compared to those of her heart.

Torran Vaughn, her trusted ally, takes a similar journey to the wilds of Evonrise, a former penal colony bordering the mystical shadowlands. As danger closes in, he will make desperate choices in the hope of securing the coveted alliance for Viviana and their people.

Both must grapple with impossible odds and ugly truths that threaten to destroy everything they hold dear.

And in the deadly game of war and desire, the Darkveil Prince might be the most motivated player of all.

If Ruby Smoke left you hungry for more, return to Viviana’s journey in this continuing series of magic, longing, and impossible stakes.

A Haunting and Addictive Third Chapter in the Evermore Saga
Ruby Evermore, the third installment in Evie Finn’s Kingdom of Evermore series, is a masterclass in atmospheric storytelling. It carries a quiet melancholy beneath its surface, unfolding like a slow exhale after a long ache. Finn weaves a narrative steeped in introspection and the heavy weight of becoming someone new when the past refuses to let go.
The Atmosphere and Pacing
The pacing is deliberate and reflective, giving the story a dreamlike quality that allows the reader to sit with the shadows as much as the light. While the romance is subtle and restrained—simmering with unspoken emotion rather than flash—this restraint makes the softer moments feel all the more powerful and earned.
Character Development
What makes this book truly addictive is the incredible character growth. Watching the relationships deepen throughout this third volume was a highlight; I never expected to have such a total change of heart regarding Wrayth, and we are treated to wonderful new depths in Vivi and Rasmus.
The Verdict
Though the story is immersive and haunting, it builds to an absolutely epic conclusion that I never saw coming. It is a rare "slow-burn" that remains a complete page-turner from start to finish. I can’t recommend this series enough and am already anxious for the next installment.

Ruby Evermore carries a quiet melancholy beneath its surface, unfolding like a slow exhale after a long ache. Evie Finn weaves a story steeped in longing, self-reflection, and the weight of becoming someone new when the past still clings to you.

Ruby’s journey feels introspective and raw, marked by moments of isolation, yearning, and fragile hope. The emotional beats linger, allowing the reader to sit with the shadows as much as the light. The romance simmers rather than sparkles—subtle, restrained, and heavy with unspoken emotion—making the softer moments feel all the more powerful.

The pacing is deliberate, giving the story a reflective, almost dreamlike quality. While there were moments where I wanted certain emotions to be explored more deeply, the overall atmosphere remains immersive and haunting in the best way.

Ruby Evermore is a sharp, momentum-driven bridge to the series finale, tightening the stakes as Zyraxia and Wadalia hurtle toward an inevitable clash. What begins as a war of power, politics, and land steadily reveals deeper fault lines of loyalty, sacrifice, and desire which complicate every alliance. Finn balances escalating conflict with emotionally charged threads, keeping romantic endgames deliberately unsettled. The result is a purposeful, tension-heavy installment that raises questions faster than it answers them, leaving readers primed for the final reckoning.

Wow. Another totally addictive read! I couldn't put it down. I can't wait for the next one. The ending was absolutely epic… I loved watching the characters develop and the different relationships deepen. I never expected to change my mind on liking a character as much as I have with Wrayth. Then there's the new depths of Vivi and Rasmus of course. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. Loved it, can't recommend enough.
