Dr. Adrian Cole is the last man I should be anywhere near.
He’s my boss. My enemy. My daily dose of infuriating arrogance wrapped in a thousand-dollar suit.
And thanks to one viral photo—he’s now my fiancé.
The hospital calls it damage control. I call it a disaster.
Until his hand brushes mine in front of the cameras. Until his voice drops when no one’s around. Until pretending to love him stops feeling like pretend at all.
He drives me crazy. He makes me blush. He looks at me like he’s breaking every rule he lives by.
And one reckless night, he does.
Now I’m hiding a secret that could blow everything apart.
Because if Adrian finds out I’m pregnant, this tiny town will turn our fake engagement into a scandal big enough to burn us both to the ground.
Lyla Harte writes steamy, emotional contemporary romance with addictive chemistry, small-town tension, and heart-pounding twists. Her books blend swoony billionaires, fierce heroines, and high-stakes love stories readers devour in one sitting.
I feel like I didn't read the same book as everyone else on here. This book needs some serious editing. It didn't transition and half the time I didn't know if they were home, at the hospital, or at a photo shoot? I say that because at one point she was holding the babies hand and then the next moment/sentence she was in the middle of a phone call that was in the middle of a conversation. Either this needs editing or I received a botched edition.
However, even before the lack of edits/overall stuttered flow of the book, I didn't understand Sophie's uppity attitude toward Adrien. Because she went out of her way to be nasty to him from the beginning. Why did she walk into signing an NDA contract in a red dress trying to make him "squirm"? He wasn't the one that initiated this whole contract... so I didn't understand and I could not stand her attitude and then her pissy attitude towards him for not putting the moves on her.
All it took was one viral photo to send Adrian's controlled world sideways and to rectify it a fake relationship that changed everything. Sophie had every reason to keep her distance but when a mishap and a well-timed photo circulates, they have no choice but to comply. What starts out as a fake relationship turns quickly and one night will have lasting repercussions. will Adrian's and Sophie's relationship turn into the real deal as a result of their relapse.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
OMG Let’s face it you all NEED to read this PHENOMENAL romance book right here. Holy cow it’s an addictive romance book with page turning characters that has you reading chapter after chapter loving every single word Lyla has written. Medical romance is one of my favorite tropes to read and this book right here is a perfect 10. You just scored if you have Adrian and Sophie in your kindle already.
This book started out as a 4⭐️ and quickly became a 2. The editing is horrendous. It’s super confusing as to what is happening from one sentence to the next. I stuck it out but the story could have ended at 80%. In the last 20% we went through the whole pregnancy with one chapter having her go into labor at 6 months and the next chapter she had a giving birth at full term. 🙄🙄🙄🙄
