MAKING A DIFFERENCE
The story is part of the Red Ridge Chronicles series, set in the Red Ridge, Oregon, area. This is a clean, historical Western tale that explores the good, the bad, and the evil in people.
“The gunslingers had worked separately and together over the last ten or so years. They kept in touch, always ready at a moment’s notice to join in a job or help a friend.”
Nora Madison has returned to Red Ridge to spend time with her younger brother, Billy, and his wife, Mirabella. Since early in her life, she has devoted herself to her family and worked with her father in his business. At twenty-nine, she finds herself facing new crossroads since her father is planning to sell the business. It’s a good time to travel, and going back to Red Ridge is exactly her destination.
New to Red Ridge is Dr. Aiden Rycroft, who accepted the position for the next three years. He went into medicine to help people and make a difference. It seems his family, especially his mother, dotes on his brother, Phillip, also a doctor, but also a thief, who has taken research work that Aiden had compiled and presented it as his own. Now, Phillip has been accepted into a research program and is boasting about it.
The story takes place in the 1880s in Red Ridge. As Nora’s stage comes to town and is picked up by her brother Billy, a rider comes racing into town to get the doctor. While Nora is noticing the doctor, Billy isn’t happy and is warning her to stay away from him. Like that would work. When Nora makes a trip to town to investigate possible employment, two boys playing break a store window, and Nora is cut by the glass and tended to by Aiden. Once again, Billy isn’t happy. Nora sees a newspaper headline, ‘Fever and Ague Spreading’, from several towns away that has her concerned, but it is when the town starts seeing signs of illness, fever, aches, and pains, that it becomes a crisis, and Nora’s previous help with a doctor back home will have her assisting Aiden. The gunslingers, along with the town doctor, must go after the lifesaving medicine that has been stolen. Will Billy accept that Aiden is good enough for his sister?
I’m enjoying this series and seeing cameo appearances from people from the previous books. The story is a page-turning tale of good versus evil, along with a sweet, clean love story, and the coveted happily ever after ending. It was another wonderful addition to the series, and this reader is happy to know that there will be at least one more book in the series.

Nora Madison, the sister of Billy from book 2 in this series, has returned to Red Ridge to visit Billy and his wife, Mirabelle. She catches a glimpse of the town doctor and is intrigued. Aiden Rycroft has been the town doctor in Red Ridge for many months now. It's not been a real busy job and he's questioning if he made a mistake coming there. He sees Nora in town the day after she arrives and gets caught by Billy watching her out of curiosity. Billy warns the doctor to stay away from Nora. Nora ends up getting injured when she's in town a day or so later and Aiden ends up treating her. Nora sees something she really likes in the doctor. There's a point in the story where Nora explains Billy and Mirabelle's story to Aiden that helps him understand why Billy is so protective. There is a mysterious illness that helps both Billy and the town realize they can trust the doctor. This is a wonderful, clean, romance with a HEA ending. I love the brother/sister interaction between Billy and Nora. It reminds me a lot of how my siblings and I are together. I highly recommend this book as well as the previous 3 books in this series.

What a pleasure to return with Nora Madison to the growing 1880s western town of Red Ridge, Oregon! Like Nora, meeting Doctor Aiden Rycroft sparked my interest right away! It was gripping and heartwarming to watch their romantic relationship blossom gradually through adversity shaped by a shared yearning for belonging. Along with the slow burn romance comes drama, fueled by family dynamics and an epidemic! I appreciate the Christian values woven into the narrative. Most of the wonderful, well-crafted characters in this fourth addition to the Red Ridge Chronicles series are carryovers from previous books in the series; however, the book can easily be read as a standalone. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and highly recommend it as a quick, satisfying Western Romance read.

The Doctor
This is a short but sweet story of trials in the west. Nora Madison is the sister of the famous gunslinger Billy Madison. She is returning to Red Ridge for a second visit with her brother and his new wife. Her travels will be soon behind her with her father retiring. Dr. Aiden Rycroft is new to Red Ridge. He came seeking refuge from troubles of his own. His plans are to work the duration of his contract and move on. Everything changes when an outbreak of fever and ague, or what is known by some as malaria hits the town and there is no medicine to be found. He and Nora work diligently to aid those they can. Then the unthinkable happens. Nora is struck by the illness as well. I highly recommend this book for a wonderful afternoon story.

This is a wonderful story about doing the right thing, always. Aiden starts out not being accepted by the community, but that doesn’t deter him from doing the best he can for everyone. When he falls for Nora, he tries to keep her out of harm’s way at the cost of his own well being, but she feels just as strongly about helping him. A battle of wills ensues because of their dedication and compassion, not only for each other, but for each person’s safety in the town.
This is book 4 and I can’t wait to start book 5. The author writes vivid scenes and memorable characters that draw you in, leaving you wanting more.

Good story line. There is plenty of action, an epidemic and romance.
The doctor of a small town, who is wishes he had more challenging work, meets a stubborn young woman visiting her brother. They are attracted to one another, but Nora's brother tries to prevent a serious relationship from starting. Then there is a medical epidemic and the story really takes off.
My personal opinion is you'll definitely enjoy reading this book!

It was very entertaining from beginning to end! You can’t help but fall in love with all the characters; they feel like old friends. This series is so good, and each book just gets better. I found myself on the edge of my seat one minute and cheering the next. It's a sweet romance filled with a storm to surpass that only makes it sweeter. Looking forward to the next book!

It was great reading another story set in Red Ridge! Although you can read this book as a stand alone, it is nice seeing the characters from previous books be around in this one. A new doctor to Red Ridge and a visiting relative are the main people in this sweet novella.

The doctor
I really enjoyed Aiden and Nora. Aiden really cared for his patients, a great doctor. Nora is visiting her brother, she helps out Aiden. Her brother disapproved of Aiden but will he change his mind? A really great short story.

I enjoyed the book! Nora came to Red Ridge to visit her brother. She met the town doctor and the attraction was mutual but her brother objected. Part of the story deals with how difficult it was to get medicine in the west. This book is part of a series but can be read as standalone. I highly recommend reading this book!

The Doctor
This is the first book I have read in the Red Ridge Chronicles. I enjoyed the story, liked how the characters developed in the story. It made me compare the setting like “Gunsmoke,” a show that was very popular when I was young. A good & entertaining read.

I’m thankful to be on this author’s, Sarah Lamb’s, arc team, as I have loved these Red Ridge Chronicles books! This one has the sister of a character from a previous book, coming to town to be near her brothers, but she doesn’t want them to know she’s there until she finds a job and a place to live. Otherwise, they will whisk her out to their big old ranch and tell her what she can and cannot do! While in the mercantile, Nora looks across the street and sees a Doctor’s shingle hanging from a building. Underneath it stands one of the most fetchingly handsome men she’s ever seen, and their eyes connect, and he thinks the very exact thing about Nora! Naturally, one of her family members eventually catches a glance of Nora her and tells her brother and, just as she suspected, they want to take her to their ranch so they can watch after their little sister. She refuses to go! One of Nora’s brothers is a deputy and he hears that there is a deadly disease outbreak in the next town over. He tells the Doctor, who takes a quick inventory and tells them that he doesn’t have enough medications for the town and without them, many residents will die. The search begins, and Nora takes on the role of the Doctor’s assistant. By the end of the day, the first infectious people show up and Doc immediately gets them their medication and sends them home. I’m not going to spoil the story by telling you how this book ends, but I promise, you will love this book!! 📕♥️📕♥️

We are back in Red Ridge for the book, The Doctor. Aiden is not sure he has made the right choice in coming to Red Ridge to be the town's doctor. It's not a big town and business is slow. Nora is back in town visiting her brother Billy and new wife Mirabelle. Will she find what she is looking for in town. Aiden doesn't think he will get what he wants, until the epidemic hits. All he can think of saving the town and making sure Nora is fine. Strong storyline and characters. We have our gunslingers back to help save the day with Aiden.
