I'm on a business trip to France and one of the first things I did was find a bookstore. I spent a lot of time there, picking out things that I thought our girls would like. And since I'm brushing up on my French, I figured some children's books would be good (and not too overwhelming.) I picked out some books to bring home and I really hope our girls like them...I sure did!
This is a French retelling of the Ukrainian/Russian folktale. I thought this was appropriate, since our next stops include Kiev and Moscow. Although I preferred The Mitten by Jim Aylesworth and Barbara McClintock, this is a sweet version with cute animals. The narrative is fairly short and even though our girls won't understand the words (yet), they are familiar with the story.
