Across centuries, three women are bound by an invisible thread, one that dares them to question everything and follow what whispers in their souls. Because it turns out, we are far more magical than we ever imagined.

1307 Miryam, a weaver’s daughter, longs for more than her impending arranged marriage. When she meets a handsome monk and begins practicing magic in a secret mystery school, she believes she has found her true path—until the earl begins hunting heretics, and her new powers may cost her life.

2017 California: Leah, an atheist fortune teller and boxed-wine connoisseur, just wants peace during a brutal custody battle and debilitating migraines. But when a strange journal from the 1300s arrives addressed to her, she is drawn into a mystery that challenges everything she believes.

2307 New Soteria: Karaia, a rising marketing analyst, witnesses an impossible murder in a world where crime was supposedly eradicated. Thrust into the dark underbelly of society, she learns of disturbing government cover-ups, repressed childhood memories, and her own connection to a thousand-year-old prophecy.

As fate and free will collide, Miryam, Leah, and Karaia must unravel their pasts, face their deepest fears, and embrace their power. Ultimately, they must decide—will they accept the lives written for them, or risk it all and step into the unknown?

For readers who love interwoven timelines, secret societies, ancient prophecies, and character-driven fantasy, Woven in Time is the first book in a sweeping, genre-bending work of adult speculative fiction that fuses alternate history, dystopian intrigue, and a powerful message of personal transformation into one unforgettable journey across the ages.

I've been having a lot of luck with new authors I've come across. Woven in time is a beautiful tale following 3 women from 3 different time periods. How could these 3 women have anything in commom? Well they do and it works. Each character has their own struggles based in their lives that all combines later on in the story. Im not sure which woman is my favorite. I love Mirayem for her discovery of magic and her dream to be someone outside of her circumstances. Leah I connect with as a mom whose child means everything. Her depression and struggles as a single mom is something I can sympathize with. Then theres Kaira. I dont really connect with her at all but she is fascinating. I love how the author combined these 3 storylines across time and space! The writing perfection! I look forward to what else this author comes up with in this world and new worlds.

This story had me hooked from the first few chapters on! I loved the changes in writing style that the author gave each timeline. She made each time period stand out and gave you the feeling you were right there with the characters. I also loved how the 3 main characters came alive on page and from early on you understand what makes each character unique and special. Like any true fantasy/dystopian book the last 150 pages are action packed and the epilogue will have you begging for answers! I am looking forward to book 2 in the series!

An unforgettable, soul-stirring masterpiece! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I just finished this book, and I am completely speechless. This wasn't just a story; it was an experience. The way the author weaves together three different timelines and three distinct characters is pure genius, building a narrative that feels both vast and incredibly intimate.
The character development is exceptional—I felt so deeply connected to them that I could easily see myself in their shoes, facing their struggles and joys. The emotional weight of this story is heavy in the best way possible; I felt every heartbreak and every moment of joy 100%. The writing is so sensory and immersive that I could practically feel the grass beneath my feet in the scenes described. This is a story that lingers with you long after the final page. I cannot recommend this enough. Please, take the time to read this—you won't regret it.

Woven in Time is a perfect “just one more chapter!” novel. I had just finished reading Game of Thrones when I started this book which was a jarring change of pace (in a good way!) because there is ALWAYS time for another chapter of Woven in Time. Jessica Ann’s debut novel is shamelessly about girl power and finding and growing love in our relationships. I really loved her world building to explain how everyday magic and the whole Time thing work in her story. My favorite of the three stories is Karaia’s, set in 2307 where the U.S. once stood. Her nerdy and surprisingly (probably even to himself) brave best friend, Arjun, is my favorite character, so I hope we see him again in the series.

Unbelievably hard to put down

Wow, this piece of fiction was hard to put down! Just under 500 pages of fantasy interwoven in time. Three characters with their own stories somehow are connected throughout centuries never having met. I could say more but I fear I will say too much. If you are intrigued by mysticism and religion Jessica Ann lays it all out as she surely done her research. One of the best books I have read in the last year—I have read many.

I loved this book, with its multiple timeliness and inter-woven elements! We follow the stories of three very different women in 3 different times and places. The structure of the book, with its constantly rotating chapters dedicated to each character kept me wanting to read "just one more part" repeatedly! Each character is very much her own person and we learn more about them, their challenges, strengths and weaknesses. The stories pull us along, drawing close to a revelation about how and why they're intertwined, but left me with a new thread at the end, that I can't wait to follow in the next book!

Woven in Time is the rare novel that feels both expansive and intimate, high-concept and deeply human.

It follows three women across three centuries: Miryam in 1307 England, Leah in 2017 California, and Karaia in 2307 New Soteria. Each timeline is rigorously grounded in its era, and each woman is shaped by the constraints of her world. And yet the book keeps circling the same question: what do you do when the life handed to you isn’t the life you want?

Leah, an atheist fortune teller in the middle of a brutal custody battle, anchors the metaphysical elements of the story with sharp skepticism. Her cynicism keeps the supernatural grounded and prevents the novel from drifting into mystical fluff. The irony is that when something truly impossible happens, it’s her more “spiritual” friends who dismiss her. The book suggests reality is wider than our five senses without trying to sell you a belief system.

None of the characters are clean or simple. Leah is self-sabotaging but deeply loves her daughter. Miryam is charismatic but reckless, wielding magic she doesn’t fully understand. Even the antagonists refuse to stay one-dimensional.

The novel begins like literary fiction and then mutates into something more: part mystery, part speculative thriller, part emotional gut-punch. It doesn’t respect genre conventions, which means it doesn’t respect your expectations either. The twists keep coming, and the stakes keep rising.

At its core, Woven in Time is about loyalty, sacrifice, and the cost of choosing yourself. It asks hard questions without offering easy answers. And it’s also highly entertaining.

Once it gets its hooks into you, it doesn’t let go.

Wow, I just finished this last night and I ATE IT UP! The entire book was well paced, well thought out and planned, and felt cozy while also keeping major interest. I stayed up too late multiple nights reading! I love a time travel piece and though this isn't 'travel' I enjoy the aspects of different time periods all in one novel and seeing how the 3 women are interconnected. I can't wait for book 2!!!! This is such an impressive start to a writing career and a series as a whole, I was very impressed by the planning and execution of the book. I felt really connected to all 3 characters from the first chapters. This is a fairly sizeable book but equally not difficult to get through. I think I read it in less than a week, but it was sizeable enough to really take the time to develop the characters and stories.
I find I often struggle to connect with a story and characters when written in third person (which this book is) but I really felt connected and Jess has written it in a way where I actually forgot that it was in third person and I really connected to the thoughts and actions of the characters.
Can I just say how much I loved the island scene!!!!!
When reading, Karaia is pronounced kah-RYE-ah (via confirmation from the author!) as I found this helped smoothen my own reading.
Well done Jess and get cracking on book 2!!!

4.5 ⭐️

Woven in Time follows three characters living in three different periods, and I was immediately hooked on all of their stories. The chapters rotate sequentially between the past (Miryam), the present (Leah), and the future (Karaia), which made the pacing feel fresh and engaging.

Each chapter often ended on a cliffhanger, and more than once I caught myself saying, “just one more chapter,” only to stay up far later than planned because I had to know what happened next for that character.

This was such a strong debut novel from Jessica Ann. The storytelling was immersive, and the structure worked beautifully to keep the tension high across timelines.

Thank you to the author for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I absolutely loved it. I really enjoyed moving between the different timelines and how seamlessly they were woven together. Each time period felt meaningful, and the connections across time were beautifully done.

I especially loved the underlying feeling that we are all connected through time—our choices, emotions, and lives echoing beyond a single moment. The story was emotional, thoughtful, and incredibly engaging from start to finish.

This is a book I would love to own in paperback, and I would happily read any future books or series connected to this world. A truly special read and I am grateful to Jessica for giving me a chance to read it as ARC.

I really enjoyed reading this book and glad that I was given the opportunity to do so. This book will grab you and keep you reading and turning pages until the end and then you are craving more. It moves along at a pace that makes for a comfortable read, not to fast nor to slow. It has characters that you want to know and overcome any obstacle that they encounter. You cannot help but love them. This book does not disappoint. It is a must read that needs to be on your TBR list.

A beautifully written book spanning centuries of magic and mystery, and love. I was hooked from the start and left desperate to continue this trilogy. Myriams medieval story was probably my favorite, Leah's modern day story is so relatable, and Karaia futuristic black mirror was riveting. I LOVE a good story of stories. Can't wait to see what Jessica writes next!

When i first started reading this book, I wasn't sure if I could get into it but I fell in love with it. I love the three characters and how they are all connected but in different years. It makes you wonder if things happen for a reason beyond what we know. Can't wait for book Two to see what else happens with these three characters.
