Summer Smith never wanted much. A nice home and family was all she ever really needed. Her husband, Hart, thinks otherwise. And he has plans. Bored with his job and in love with another woman, he sees only one way out: kill Summer and collect the life insurance.
But a few things stand in his way. Number one on the list is himself. Fixated with the idea of doing everything with “dramatic flair,” Hart is not content with keeping his scheme simple. This may unnecessarily complicate things or it could very well lead to an ingenious murder plan that will free him forever.
Does Summer have what it takes to stop her own husband? Whether she wants to or not, she’s about to find out.
This book was very good. It was short and a fast read. I couldn't put it down. I loved the ending and the epilogue. It was well written with great dialog. I was very impressed and honored to read it

"Keep Calm and Kill Your Wife" by Luck Stevens
Book Description...
"What if you just found out that the man you've been sleeping next to all these years is going to kill you? Or even worse. What if you didn't find out...until it was too late? Summer Smith's romantic vacation for two is about to go terribly wrong. Not only does her husband, Hart, have a mistress, but it's someone she knows--her first cousin, Brandy, who is conspiring to kill her on this little "trip for two." With her back against the wall, can Summer keep it together while she figures out what to do about her would-be killer and husband of ten years, before it's too late? And will she even get the chance? In an odd twist of fate her problems may be solved by a freak occurrence. But at what price? One part Double Indemnity, two parts "The Postman Always Rings Twice," and multiple parts twists, turns and surprises, "KEEP CALM AND KILL YOUR WIFE" is Stevens' latest high-tension Hitchcockian suspense thriller that will keep you guessing until its very last nail-biting page."
What I liked from this novel...
This novel was exactly what the title implies. What a thriller read! This author gives the reader a intriguing story that was well written and once you start reading you will find it hard to put down. The characters...Summer, Hart and Brady along with some secondary characters were really helped give the reader a script that were richly developed in that they seemed to come alive on the pages. Along with being well developed, well defined, well portrayed, believable in the end and you have simply one good story. I must say the title did cause me to wonder what? After picking up this read you will see how it will call come out and wow does things change for Summer in the end. Who would have thought that Summer's taking paralegal courses, taking karate and flying lessons would I don't want to spoil it other than say you must pick up "Keep Calm and Kill Your Wife" and see for yourself as you read through a smooth sailing suspenseful read.
What I also liked from the read....
I liked how the story kept you on the edge of your seat...being full of suspense. This author does a good job plotting this suspenseful thriller novel.
Certainly not the recommended procedure! But KEEP CALM AND KILL YOUR WIFE is a fast-paced suspenseful mystery with a surprising amount of character evolution (and devolution). Hart Smith, a trucker, is a feckless character, but no hero. Selfish, Narcissistic, greedy: think of the self-centeredness of a three-month old infant. Hart wants his cake and everybody else's cake too. He's determined, and he will accomplish his goals with (as he views it) his customary "dramatic flair"....or die trying. The author must have had tongue plugged in cheek throughout. Quite an enjoyable read.
I read the book without reading the excerpt, and I'm glad I did, because the excerpt kind of gives away the story and would be a whole lot less exciting.
I thought this book was an entertaining little number. It was a quick read--about ninety minutes, and though unlikely, suspension of disbelief was easy to attain.
The dialogue is snappy, and at times funny.
I did feel like Summer, the title's namesake wife, was a little underdeveloped as a character, and sometimes found myself actually rooting for her demise. I'm not really sure how to feel about that.
Overall, I was entertained, and that's really what I expected from the book. There's only so much character development you can do in such a short space, and I found the epilogue satisfying without being cloying.
I would recommend this as a great beach read, or even just a distraction after a busy day, neither of which take away from Stevens' great writing. I look forward to reading more in the future.
I received this book for free from the author, but the opinions are honest and mine.
I found it really hard to get into this book. The majority of it, in my opinion, was just slow. I could pretty much tell how things were going to go from what I read in the synopsis. All in all, it was an ok book and it had enough plot twists to keep it entertaining and earn it a 4 star rating. And the ending, while in the general direction of how I thought it would go was a definite twist. It's not something I would read again, but others might enjoy it. Worth a read if you enjoy these types of books.
I liked it. I think Hart was a great character and kept me laughing. He is such a three dimensional character who felt like someone I knew. I thought Summer was not as developed as Hart. I felt like I knew less about her and until the latter part of the book, she didn't seem as real as her husband. The story is engaging and I found it hard to put down. I was waiting to see how the plan was executed and what Summer would do when she found out. I would recommend this. The writing is good and many of the conversations feel like everyday life.
I got the Kindle edition free via a link from the author. This was a decent “easy” read. By that I mean it was interesting enough for me to finish, but it didn’t draw me in to the point where I felt anything close to emotion for any of the characters-except maybe a little sympathy for the wife once in a while. There were a few interesting twists in the story, but I really need more depth in the characters to feel any attachment to a book.
This was great, I really wasn't expecting the ending at all and I loved it. My rating would actually be more of a 4.5. The book is short is short and sweet, sometimes that's exactly what you need. The last half of the book really makes you just never want to put it down. Is Hart really going to kill his wife Summer and leave w/her cousin Brandy? It's an intresting plot w/that bit of "dramatic flair" at the end, you won't regret this quick read.
I didn't really care for this book. I felt like the characters were underdeveloped and the story just didn't flow well. It did have some suspense and maybe if it would have been a longer book the plot and characters could have been more developed. It also got pretty annoying the way it kept referring to 'dramatic flair' I felt like it was important to the story but it was way over used.
I got this book from the Author, in exchange for a review, and I have to say I really liked it. It was a pretty fast read, that made me stay up way passed my bedtime again, with great characters and a good plot line. It had me at the edge of my seat until the end and I was disappointed when it was over, I wanted a little bit more. Lucky Stevens will be an Author to watch, very entertaining.
I received this as an author good reads giveaway. Excellent book! Captivating story holding you throughout and not letting you put it down. I recommend this book to any one that would enjoy a fun enjoyable murder mystery.
I received this book from a GoodReads giveaway. It was a quick, easy read, albeit very predictable in plot and ending. It was quite a diversion from my typical genre, so I had some trouble delving into it.
This was good but not great. It's a short story, so a lot is jammed in quickly. It took me a long time to finish this because I was never pulled in. The last 25% was the best.
This was a fun read. It did not go as I thought it would and I liked that. It did drag a bit at the beginning, but then I got into it as there was more and more action and twists.
