Clara Sutton is the kind of woman who keeps powerful men from falling apart—while slowly unraveling herself.
For three years she’s been overworked, underpaid, and entirely indispensable to her billionaire boss, Spencer Ashwood. Managing his calendar, his deals, and his moods has become her full-time life. So when he sends her to a small town called Redmond Valley to convince a local builder to take on his latest high-end development, Clara sees her chance to finally prove she’s more than a glorified assistant.
Bennett Reed is not what she expected. He’s gruff, broad-shouldered, and infuriatingly silent—the kind of man who measures twice, cuts once, and has zero interest in helping a flashy city developer ruin his hometown charm. A man who’s sworn off love, content with sawdust, solitude, and the quiet certainty of a life built by his own hands. But Clara has orders, and Bennett has a way of making even “no” sound like a dare.
Every meeting becomes a standoff, every argument burns hotter than it should. And the more time Clara spends in Redmond Valley, the harder it becomes to tell herself she’s only there for work.
Because beneath Bennett’s rough exterior is a man who makes her feel seen for the first time in years—and a town that feels more like home than the life she left behind.
But loyalty runs deep, and so do secrets. When the truth finally surfaces, Clara will have to choose between the career that defines her and the man who might just break her heart.

Ashwood Legacy Three Brothers. Three Stories. One Legacy
Hi, I’m Kacey Thorne! I write contemporary romance filled with heartfelt moments, sizzling chemistry, and happily-ever-afters. My stories are all about love, passion, and the journey to finding happiness. I’m a mom, a proud Glam-ma to my grandson, and a creative soul who loves living life outside the box. I call New Zealand home, where I share my days with my husband, my family, and my Siberian husky, Arlo—my loyal companion on beach walks and sunny adventures. The beach is my happy place, where I feel most inspired—whether I’m strolling along the shore with Arlo or soaking up the sun with a good book in hand. I’m a summer lover who thrives in the warmth and a winter hibernator who enjoys cozying up with a blanket, coffee, and a story. When I’m not writing or reading, you’ll often find me painting, gardening, or diving into a new craft project. Writing contemporary romance is my passion, and it’s my way of living a life of freedom—beyond the traditional limits that don’t suit a creative like me. My dream is to write full-time and travel the world, embracing all the beauty and inspiration life has to offer.
Absolutely loved this book. Clara is a very relatable and likeable character as is Bennet — It’s easy to fall in love with Redmond Valley and all the people in it, lots of smiles, laughs and watery eyes while reading this book. I absolutely can’t wait to read the rest of the trilogy. Highly recommend if you’re after refreshing romance read 🩷
A beautifully written slow-burn romance about burnout, self-worth, and choosing a life that truly feels like home. Clara and Bennett’s tension-filled connection is emotional, heartfelt, and deeply satisfying. A small-town romance that lingers long after the last page.
