When the joints creak and the eyes begin to squint Dare to Laugh. When your children are grown . . . really grown like, with children of their own and those with children too Dare to Laugh. In the midst of loss and pain, when your heart feels as though it will rupture from the sadness Dare to Laugh. When your life's experiences become well-refined wisdom Dare to Laugh.
Challenge yourself to chuckle at the everyday problems that ail you. Laughter is healing power and these sweet, heartfelt devotions prove the ache in one s heart may remain, but when the tears are given to God, the realization He is in control becomes apparent. Joy comes and laughter returns to your life.
Dare to Laugh Devotions for Those Full of Years is not a joke book, rather it s a balm for the soul, slathered across the hardships and cooling the sting of life. Lean back. Relax. Dig into the life lessons and then. . .dare to laugh.
A Devotional Book for older people, but young adults would enjoy it also. Get ready to turn your laughter volume up, but get a hankie just in case you may need one. It's written by an eighty six year old woman, When you are reading you would think this was written by a younger person, it is so clear, inspirational, and a blessing to read. The stories, scriptures and prayers are written by subjects making it easy to read and fast paced. I recommend this devotional to everyone, it is the best devotional I have read in a long time. I found it free on Amazon. Enjoy this wonderful spiritual book with beautiful small short stories, verses and more..
This is Van Liere's second book of devotionals for those of us who are past middle age (although in my mind I still think I am middle age). This wasn't as good as the first book but it was still a good daily reminder of what God has done for you and how He isn't done with you yet since you are still here. I read one a day.
Hope Van Liere can stick around to do another since God isn't done with her yet.
Elizabeth Van Liere tops off her last devotional for seniors with this one. Dare to Laugh pulls her 91-years of life experience into perspective, teaching us that the Apostle Paul was right...Rejoice in all things. This is a sweet look at the joys of growing through the hardships and how laughing at ourselves makes the bitter a bit tastier. Excellent read.
I read this book in preview format, and found it engaging, real, and hopeful. Elizabeth dares to look at life as an aging saint square in the eyes, and does so with a chuckle. I think she even topped her first book, Dare to Live. I would recommend this book to seniors, soon to be seniors, or those who want to understand life from that perspective.
